After completing our weather board and singing our good morning or hello song we will revise my body and colours. Although the children do know the majority of the words, its very useful to recap to make sure everyone remembers them all and focus on any difficulties. We will use flashcards, games and songs to reinforce the last couple of weeks work. What is it" What are you eating" # am eating... # like to eat... $ames and Activities %his week we will look at real pieces of fruit and talk about their names, the colour, the feel and te&ture and what they look like before and after we have cut them. We will also talk about the smell. As an interesting activity to further our discussions we will print with some of the fruits. %he fruit will be cut open, dipped in paint and pressed down on some paper to make a fruit print. We will play a game called 'ims game. Fruits will be placed on a plate and identified. %hey will then be covered and one item will be removed. %he children will then have to guess and say the item of fruit which is missing. We continue until all the fruit has vanished( arious games will be played with flashcards to test understanding. Songs # like to eat song Phonics #ew letters an$ s%un$s We will now move on to stage two of the )olly *honics programme. %he second set of letter sounds to be learnt are +c,'k, -e, .h, /r, 0m, and 1d. !e"iew %his week we will learn all the new actions and songs in order to learn the new letter sounds. %his will be an effective %*/ approach which will help the children to remember the sound and the letter images as they are singing and moving. We will also use the large, pictured jolly phonics flashcards to introduce the letter form. We will play games such as fly swat and pass the hat with the cards. Writing &ractice We have successfully begun our writing practice book for S,A,%,#,*,2. We will continue with our writing practice in order to improve de&terity and hand strength. %o further this we will continue using coloured pencils for colouring to get used to holding the pencil. &arent '%ll%w () / (se*ul Websites / +%ew%rk: .ello *arents( #f you wish to further your childrens interest and knowledge in this weeks topic of fruit, you could perhaps introduce them to a fruit they may not have eaten before and show them how it looks as you prepare it for them. 3ou could also pay special attention to the local fruit stalls where you live.
