Fraser’s comment is racist and untrue. 61% hispanic is not the reason
there are so many charter schools, mediocrity is the reason there are
so many charter schools. Low academic gains when comparing
hispanic students in TUSD with similar hispanic students in other
schools and much lower academic gains than when comparing them
with statewide averages. 36 “D” rated districts serving thousands of
low income hispanic students.

The TUSD district explicitly stated that the Mexican American Studies
program had not changed and was the same going forward. That
enabled Huppenthal to evaluate the program based on thousands of
pages of actual delivered lesson plans.

Huppenthal didn’t ban those books and explicitly made it clear.
However, there is a problem with those books. It would be
completely acceptable to bring Hitler’s Mein Kampf into a classroom
but you would have to be very careful to make it clear that you aren’t
adopting it as a belief system. Pedagogy of the Oppressed and
Occupied America are hateful books and are being taught as belief
systems in Mexican American Studies. The books aren’t the problem,
the infected teachers are the problem.

There are people being oppressed. They are the small businessmen
making $50,000 per year in Tucson paying the $63 million in taxes to
support ethnic studies administrators making $120,000 per year
teaching less than 1% of TUSD’s student population. They are also all
of the low income hispanic students in TUSD getting a below average

TUSD has 32 schools with “D” ratings. All of these schools serve a
predominately low income hispanic population. That’s the real crime,
a radical hispanic fringe group has been able to get a grip on an
educational system and extort it for the their own benefit, not the
benefit of the students.

Senate President Russell Pearce was a very good man. Like the
sheriff in High Noon, he restored the rule of law. In short order,
murders collapsed from 240 to less than 100 in Phoenix, car thefts
plunged from 50,000 to 25,000, drunken driving fatalities collapsed
and uninsured motorist collisions dropped dramatically.

Not every country in the world is suffering as much as the United
States. China and Russia tax their smallbusinesses a fraction of the
United States and they both grew over 6% last year. If you care about
the poor, your total tax take from a dollar of smallbusiness revenue
should only be 25 percent. Obama’s plan: 63%. Obama’s plan for
teenage African-American unemployment: 63%.

have a forest of bureaucrats earning over $100,000 a year oppressing
us, eating out our substance. For every dollar of value they create for

Whether this was the correct action or not is perhaps debatable.
What is not debatable is that low income and minority children are
getting a bad shake in Tucson Unified. Their gain scores, same child,
full year, are below state-wide averages.
Also, what is not debatable is that Pedicone is as excellent an
education leader as Tucson, even Arizona will ever have. If he fails,
the next step is to tear Tucson Unified into three pieces.

students to undergo a toxic indoctrination.
The result is devastating to the school district. Their revenue base
has shrunk by over $20 million dollars per year in just the last 4
years as over 5,000 parents have abandoned the school district in
search of a better education for their children.
The result is even more devastating to the students left behind. Low
income hispanic gains in TUSD are lower than any other school
district in the state with the exception of a few Indian reservation
districts.
All the blather in the article above is just that, blather. Not just
blather but poisonous blather meant to entertain by inflaming

Chicanos are succeeding in an urban high school? Get real. The
Tucson Unified School district is grossly undereducating low-income
hispanics. The rejection of American values and embracement of the
values of Mexico in LaRaza classrooms is the rejection of success and
embracement of failure. That’s the real issue here. They are teaching
these kids to hate America and what it stands for.
Palo Friere was a Brazilian marxist who taught the poor to hate the
“oppressors.” In America, we have a dream that every kid can be the
next Steve Jobs, an adopted child who slept on the floor in college
who didn’t get college credit because he couldn’t affort tuition but
attended college classes to learn.
Steve Jobs is not an oppressor, he is a value creator who creates jobs
for the poor and elevates them to status. In America, a land where
the per capita gnp is $45,000 and the ratio of sharing gdp with the
poor is 7 to 1, the Steve Jobs are our heros. In Brazil, where Palo Frier
taught the students that the the Steve Jobs of the world are
oppressors, the per capita gdp is $8,000 and the ratio of rich to poor
sharing is 45 to 1.

Palo Frier’s book “Pedagogy of the Oppressed” is the bible of the “La
Raza” classroom. It is a poisonous religion.

Huppenthal doesn’t hate LaRaza studies but he does point out that
they are teaching hate even if they don’t admit it to themselves.
When indoctrinate students with hate by teaching that Benjamin
Franklin was a racist, that is a problem. Benjamin Franklin freed his
own slaves and gave them positions of responsibility in his company.
He was the president of the abolutionist society in Pennsylvania and
it was his influence that led to Pennsylvania being the first state to
stop the slave trade. Benjamin Franklin also paid out of his own
pocket to build the first schools for African-Americans in this nation
and perhaps the world.
If some white people gathered and called themselves “The Race” we
would know that to be hate. What is it when some hispanics gather
and call themselves “The Race” and say hateful and false things about
America?

Huppenthal has never criticized the Tucson Unified School District for
low test scores. Huppenthal has criticized them for have low gain
scores. There is a big, big difference.
When Pedicone was at Flowing Wells, his actual versus expected test
scores were more than two standard deviations above the statewide
average, indicating that he may have had the highest gain scores in
the state.
Tucson Unified’s gain scores are below the statewide average and
when you exclude their lily white schools, they have among the
lowest gain scores in the nation. Their low-income, minority students
are capable of much more than the school district is moving them.

Tucson Unified is indoctrinating these children. Posters of Che
Guvera on the wall, a man who helped direct death camps and firing
squads. They use the first amendment as a shield to teach these
children but not one of these kids can tell you who wrote the first
amendment or the declaration of independence.

Krugman is a fake nobel prize winner in economics, given for proving
that bad policies can produce good outcomes in theory- even though
those practices have never been observed to work in practice –
actually a dangerous nobel. I prefer a real Nobel prize winner- Ed
Prescott of ASU. He has created a productivity model which explains
the great depressions of the last 100 years and the current
depression, a model which is being ignored by both Obama and the
Republicans.

This is not an attack on public education, this is an attack on this
incompetent district which is hurting low income and minority
students by not educating them.
