The Club
The strength of Leven Links is in its succession of 'less easy' holes and the fact that one turns at the 13th into the prevailing west
wind with a lot of work still to be done. At the end is the Home Green, prior to 1893 being small and square, but now a large putting
surface fronted by demonic Scoonie burn. This wide natural water hazard described in the past as 'yellow as Pactolus or as black as
Styx, or again, with the colour of Ketchup, the density of pea soup and the smell of Gaol fever'. Not quite as bad today but it will still
take two superlatively struck shots to reach the putting surface in regulation. The 18th hole is reckoned to be one of the finest
finishing holes in golf. Improvements have been made in the early 2000's to counter act technology. New stratigically placed bunkers
and alterations mean that the "golfer" needs to manage their game.

Nine miles east of Kirkcaldy on the A955
1 - Table

Par 4 Par 4 - (Ladies & Juniors) Stroke Index 10

Championship - 416 Medal - 416 Regular - 401 C'ship Ladies - 383 Ladies & Juniors - 383

A tough start, better to be on the left, but watch for the craftily placed
bunkers.

2 - knowe

Par 4 Par 4 - (Ladies & Juniors) Stroke Index 8

Championship - 379 Medal - 379 Regular - 346 C'ship Ladies - 314 Ladies & Juniors - 314

Aim for the corner of the plateau and a straight shot could see you not
far from the green

3 - Bents

Par 4 Par 4 - (Ladies & Juniors) Stroke Index 16

Championship - 352 Medal - 352 Regular - 333 C'ship Ladies - 290 Ladies & Juniors - 290

A three wood is the club for the nervous. A caravan site on the right
makes slicers of us all. Aim for the left part of green, everything
breaks to the right.
4 - Sea

Par 4 Par 4 - (Ladies & Juniors) Stroke Index 2

Championship - 450 Medal - 450 Regular - 434 C'ship Ladies - 380 Ladies & Juniors - 380

With the out of bounds on the right a tough par 4 in an east wind.

5 - Valley

Par 3 Par 3 - (Ladies & Juniors) Stroke Index 18

Championship - 163 Medal - 163 Regular - 141 C'ship Ladies - 115 Ladies & Juniors - 115

The first par three and depending on which way the wind is blowing, a
3i or wedge.

6 - Silverburn - N

Par 5 Par 5 - (Ladies & Juniors) Stroke Index 4

Championship - 569 Medal - 569 Regular - 555 C'ship Ladies - 542 Ladies & Juniors - 542

The longest hole on the course. The main task is to stay in bounds,
silverburn park attracts the ball like a magnet !
7 - Corriemear

Par 3 Par 3 - (Ladies & Juniors) Stroke Index 14

Championship - 182 Medal - 182 Regular - 162 C'ship Ladies - 114 Ladies & Juniors - 114

This par three is a tough hole from the medal tee. Many a promising
round has gone to grief here

8 - Bing

Par 4 Par 4 - (Ladies & Juniors) Stroke Index 6

Championship - 350 Medal - 350 Regular - 352 C'ship Ladies - 345 Ladies & Juniors - 345

This hole is easier from the medal tee. A wall of gorse on the right has
claimed many an errant drive

9 - Pavillion

Par 3 Par 3 - (Ladies & Juniors) Stroke Index 12

Championship - 171 Medal - 171 Regular - 166 C'ship Ladies - 140 Ladies & Juniors - 140

Although arguably the easiest of the par threes, its amazing the
amount of sevens I reorded at this hole !
10 - Cattle Creep

Par 4 Par 4 - (Ladies & Juniors) Stroke Index 11

Championship - 333 Medal - 333 Regular - 319 C'ship Ladies - 295 Ladies & Juniors - 295

A blind tee shot more space to the right of marker pole but too far
either way can mean a lost ball.

11 - Boundary

Par 4 Par 4 - (Ladies & Juniors) Stroke Index 17

Championship - 368 Medal - 368 Regular - 350 C'ship Ladies - 301 Ladies & Juniors - 301

The green is guarded with three bunkers that are a devil to get out of.
Strangely a sliced drive is not a bad result as the bunkers don't come
in to play

12 - Silverburn - S

Par 4 Par 5 - (Ladies & Juniors) Stroke Index 1

Championship - 496 Medal - 496 Regular - 476 C'ship Ladies - 440 Ladies & Juniors - 440

An easy par five off the medal tee, its a long par four of the boxes. A
burn at the back of the green will catch the unwary
13 - Seg

Par 4 Par 5 - (Ladies & Juniors) Stroke Index 3

Championship - 482 Medal - 482 Regular - 471 C'ship Ladies - 439 Ladies & Juniors - 439

Another hole which is a par 5 off the medal but a par four of the
boxes. Bumpiest fairway and fairway awkward to hit.

14 - Dykeneuk

Par 4 Par 4 - (Ladies & Juniors) Stroke Index 15

Championship - 341 Medal - 341 Regular - 313 C'ship Ladies - 308 Ladies & Juniors - 308

This hole has the narrowest green to land on. Stay left and avoid the
bunkers for a better shot to the green

15 - Railway

Par 3 Par 3 - (Ladies & Juniors) Stroke Index 7

Championship - 189 Medal - 189 Regular - 182 C'ship Ladies - 157 Ladies & Juniors - 157

The last of the par threes and surprisingly awkward.

16 - Circus

Par 4 Par 4 - (Ladies & Juniors) Stroke Index 13

Championship - 393 Medal - 393 Regular - 383 C'ship Ladies - 368 Ladies & Juniors - 368

Aim left for the drive, the fairway breaks right to left. If you are long a
draw from the right of the fairway pays dividends

17 - Howe

Par 4 Par 5 - (Ladies & Juniors) Stroke Index 5

Championship - 416 Medal - 416 Regular - 409 C'ship Ladies - 399 Ladies & Juniors - 399

A perfectly hit drive with a wee bit of draw and the ball runs for miles.
A shot played down the right leaves a blind second.

18 - Scoonie

Par 4 Par 5 - (Ladies & Juniors) Stroke Index 9

Championship - 456 Medal - 456 Regular - 457 C'ship Ladies - 445 Ladies & Juniors - 444

Admiration from your playing partner is assured if you manage on the

green over scoonie burn it two.
