Oceanfront Re-Member Your Baptism Celebration Sunday – We are offering a unique opportunity to affirm and re-member your Baptism next Sunday at 4 pm in the ocean at Cocoa Beach. You may “re-member” in any way you’d like: splashing, diving, or dunking! You are asked to park in the outlying parking areas of the Doubletree Hotel. (2080 North Atlantic Avenue / A-1A / South of Ron Jon’s.) We will gather for the celebration on the beach, just south of the Doubletree. Afterwards we will adjourn to the community room of the Beumer’s condo to enjoy a potluck cookout! Hamburgers, Hot Dogs, and beverages will be provided for a $2 per person donation. Sign-up at the Welcome Center today to indicate how many burgers / dogs you want and what sort of side dish you will bring to share. We will carpool from SoJ at 2 pm. Everybody’s Welcome. No Roadblocks. No Jargon. No Experience Necessary! We will soon begin offering an adult study option during the 2nd service for people who have attended the early service. It doesn’t matter if this is your first or 101st Bible Study, No Experience Necessary is designed to be accessible for people new to Bible study, and full of fresh insights for others. Paid Nursery Attendant Wanted – To provide continuity in care and ease our nursery’s volunteer load, SoJ is hiring a part-time nursery attendant to work Sundays from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Applicants should be faithful Christians, love children, and have a background in early childhood education. SoJ Quilters Meet Monday – QUILTERS meet the first Monday of each month at 9:30 a.m. Please join us and plan to go to lunch together. We also need volunteers to cut squares and sew backs at home. School Supplies Needed By Next Sunday – Today is the last Sunday to pick a card for school supplies for neighborhood schools and next Sunday is the last day to return the items. Remember to include receipts so we can get matching funds from Thrivent Financial for Lutherans. August Outreach Team Project – SoJ's Outreach Team is collecting 120 cans of Chili for Harvest of Hope. To share a gift, place your donations in the wagon located next to the cafe by Sunday August 19. Monetary Donations are welcomed too. Interfaith Hospitality Network Volunteer Orientation – Prior to our next hosting, all volunteers, including cooks, servers and hosts, are required to attend an orientation session scheduled for September 12, 7-9 p.m. at First United Methodist Church in Winter Park. Joy Singers – Our adult choir, open to anyone from high school age and up, will resume rehearsals this Wednesday at 7pm. All are welcome!
