1 Corinthians 9:24-27 "Do you not know that those who run in a race all run, but only one
receives the prize? Run in such a way that you may win. 25 Everyone who competes in the
games exercises self-control in all things. They then do it to receive a perishable wreath,
but we an imperishable. 26 Therefore I run in such a way, as not without aim; I box in such
a way, as not beating the air; 27 but I discipline my body and make it my slave, so that,
after I have preached to others, I myself will not be disqualified."
2 Corinthians 3:2-3 "You are our letter, written in our hearts, known and read by all men; 3
being manifested that you are a letter of Christ, cared for by us, written not with ink but with
the Spirit of the living God, not on tablets of stone but on tablets of human hearts."
Memory Verse
Ezekiel 11:19-20: "And I will give them one heart, and put a new spirit within them. And I
will take the heart of stone out of their f lesh and give them a heart of flesh, 20 that they may
walk in My statutes and keep My ordinances and do them. Then they wi ll be My people,
and I shall be their God.”

Reasons to Reflect on Baptism #9. Baptism is a Sign Proclaiming the Need for Cleansing
from Sin. Baptism provides an outer cleansing by the application of water, and it pictures an
inner cleansing from sin. This, in turn, indicates the filth and corruption that is in our hearts
and that must be cleansed away if we are to be saved. "Now why do you delay? Get up
and be baptized, and wash away your sins, calling on His name."

But sin goes in a disguise, and so is welcome; like Judas, it kisses and kills; like Joab, it
