Objectives of the project:
The main objective of the study is to identify the problems which are becoming hurdles and
area affecting the tourism business in the state. Beside this following are the sub objectives:
1. To overview the tourism industry of Indian in general and Maharashtra in particular.
2. To study the emerging trends and its impact in the tourism sector.
3. To assess the future prospects of tourism industry in Maharashtra.
4. To identify new destinations of tourist places in the study area and to assess whether they
can be marketable.
5. To assess whether medical tourism can be in cashed and motivated in the state.
6. To understand the problem of tourist and person working in tourism industry in the state.

The study will make use of primary data as well as secondary data.
To collect primary data from the respondents a well defined, pre tested structural
questionnaire will be prepared for the respondents. The respondents will be the tourist,
hotel and taxi owners from the state of Maharashtra. For this purpose three separate
questionnaires will be prepared tom get better understand.
To get insight of the subject matter secondary data is very important which built the
theoretical frame work of the researcher. For the present study secondary data will be
collected from books, journals, magazines newspapers, trade journals, industry portals,
government reports, tourist agencies, trade associations etc.
Sample selection and sample size:
To collect primary data from this research there search will visit the tourist destinations
such s hills stations, seashores, historical monuments, wild forests, pilgrimages,
adventure spots, Eco-tourism, Medical tourism etc.. The tourist visiti9ng this places are
infinite therefore in all 700 tourists visiting this place will be interviewed by purposive
sampling method. This sample size is sufficient to understand the trends, satisfaction
level and acceptations of the tourists. The other stake holders are the hotel owners will
be 15 per location and at least 10 taxi owners will be interviewed. For this purpose a list
of hotels and taxi owners will be prepared and the sample will be selected by random
sampling using lottery method.
Academic significance of the study:
The tourism industry of the country has shown is potential in terms of income generation
as foreign currency. This industry is having a great future, but still ignored by the
government. By undertaking this study it will bring in to light the problems and will also
project the prospect I this regards. Such a study will have impact on the branch of social
science such as Economics, Commerce, Management, Sociology etc. It is to be noted
that such type of study is not carried out in the state and will help in further to the
research interest in doing their research in the field of tourism. This study will also help
the government , Tourism industry in deciding their growth policies. The study will try
to bring new dimension in the field of tourism and in the academic area such as
marketing, hospitality management, management of human resources etc.

The tourism industry is at a apex worldwide and India is not exception to it. This
industry is having tremendous potentials in strengthening the economy of the country.
Such a study will give direction as how to overcome the problems, and will suggest how
and better management in the field of tourism is possible. By adopting proper and
effective management techniques it will help in boosting the tourism sector and will also
be able to add foreign remittance. Hence it is the need of the hour to study this aspect.
