Site Requirements
All CoolantLoop™ Systems are manufactured to industrial grade standards. Process tanks
are welded inside and out and have a painted exterior. On most systems, the tanks are
channel reinforced and tank bottoms have support beams. We use non stalling air operated
diaphragm pumps with poly body and viton wetted parts. (Electric pumps are also available
when required.) Standard filtration includes a Size #2 bag filter housing, however, a
number of optional polishing filtration devices are available based on the particular needs
of your shop. All CoolantLoop systems incorporate the SmartSkim world renown 304
stainless steel floating suction skimmers and Crossflow Separators. Systems are shipped
complete with all fittings, piping, hoses and valves to make a complete assembly.
Materials of Construction
Air: Systems needs 30 PSI of clean dry plant air. Entire system uses approximately 5-10
SCFM of air.
Electric: No electric typically required except when optional ozonator is used. Ozonator
supplied with standard 110V plug.
Piping: Only customer piping required is for the tramp oil discharge to the customer
supplied drum or tote.
Water: ¾" NPT water line at 40 PSI for coolant makeup proportioner.
Maintenance: System should be cleaned periodically as needed depend- ing on
contamination loading, type of coolant used, pre-filtration available and maintenance
practices of plant. Total system cleaning of once per year is recommended.

Dirty Coolant
from
Sump Sucker,

Process Description

A. Dirty coolant is delivered to the inlet side of the
CoolantLoop

System by sump sucker or drum vac, or
manually, passing through an optional large
strainer/filter at the inlet for capturing large debris
such as chips, ear plugs, etc.
B. The multi-patented SmartSkim® floating suction
skimmer continuously skims the top most layers by
suction.
P
u
m
p

C. The transfer pump moves the skimmed fluids through the CrossFlow Separator.
D. The SmartSkim® open channel coalescing CrossFlow Separator removes free & mechanically dispersed tramp oils and gross
solids by gravity only, without filters or plastic coalescing media.
E. Clean treated fluids gravity flow from the CrossFlow Separator onto a proprietary weir with thin film overflow and into the
clean tank which then allows the coolant to continuously overflow back into the inlet/dirty side for further processing. This
provides continuous aeration of the coolant as it cascades and also allows for multi pass filtration via the total recirculation of
the system. There is no stagnant coolant in the CoolantLoop.
F. Captured oil gravity drains automatically to a capture barrel or tote. Settled solids can be purged manually on demand through
the angled bottom discharge.
G. The FilterLoop

coolant recirculation keeps the clean side moving and filtered. Includes a polishing bag filter and optional sub
micron magnetic in-line separator which is available for steel and cast iron applications. When clean coolant is needed, use the
FilterLoop pump to supply your portable container for return to the coolant sumps or you can pump clean, treated coolant
make up directly back to the machines via a distribution piping system.
H. Water/coolant make up is done automatically in the inlet/dirty tank as level drops & keeps the system operational.
I. An Optional Ozonator can be used to disperse O
3
to kill bacteria, fungus, yeast, and mold as well as destroying their associated
odors.

The CrossFlow Separator takes up very little floor space. The unit measures 48" wide
x 14" deep x 24" tall. In most instances the separator can be attached to existing
parts washers or other structures. We sell an optional stand that provides for ease of
installation. Due to the nature of the gravity discharge, our separator needs to be
installed with the outlet port above the level of the fluid that it is cleaning.
The standard suction skimmer that is included with our systems requires an area of
12" x 12" x 18" deep within the source tank where it will be installed. Other suction
skimmers are available to deal with restricted space constrains, shallow fluid levels
and large fluid level fluctuations.

Magnetic filtration can be used in almost any environment
where ferrous and para-magnetic contamination of a
liquid is a problem.
Significantly lower
operating costs
Longer lasting fluids
Magnetic filters remove particles smaller
than one micron in size. Traditional bar-
rier filters typically leave particles smaller
than 5 microns circulating in the fluid. These
particles significantly affect the performance
of fluids and also act as a focus for bacterial
build up.
NO consumables
Once installed there is nothing else you need
to buy to ensure effective filtration over the
filter’s lifetime.
Minimal fluid loss
Contamination is removed from the filter as a
semi-dry ‘cake’. Fluid loss is considerably less
than that of traditional filter media.
NO disposal costs
The cake itself can be recycled, eliminating
specialist disposal costs.
Minimal running costs
Manually cleaned magnetic filters require
no additional power. Magnetic self-cleaning
filters only require a small amount of power
for the cleaning process.
More environmentally
responsible
Less fluid used
More efficient filtration means fluids retain
their essential properties for longer, giving
extended fluid life.
Contamination can be recycled
Ferrous contamination is collected and can be
easily recycled as a single material.
Reduced pollution
No contaminated filter media ends up in
landfill.
Increased
productivity
Maintain flow rates
High flow rates can be maintained without
affecting filtration efficiency. Fluid does
not flow through filter media, so flow is
uninterrupted. Flow rates are determined by
your process requirements, not by your filter.
No back pressure
Even when the filter is ‘full’ there is no
blinding or risk of burst filters, reducing
downtime.
Reduced wear
Particles that pass through traditional filters
act as an abrasive, wearing parts, machinery
and product. Magnetic filters remove these
damaging particles.
Fine ñItration
Conventional filtration media, at 5 microns
and below, can strip oils of anti-foaming,
anti-bacteria and other additives. Micromag
enables sub-micron filtration without
affecting the oil’s properties.
Where to use magnetic filtration
Why use magnetic filtration?
FLOW
Particles smaller than media rating
remain in the fluid, reducing its
efficiency and increasing wear on
machinery and cutting tools
Once full, the contaminated media is
disposed of along with fluid held in the
filter medium
The filter becomes clogged causing
blinding and back pressure
FLOW
All particles are removed
Once full, the contamination is removed
from the magnet and can be recycled
with little loss of fluid
Patented magnet configuration* means
that even when the filter is full, flow
channels remain open so there is no
blinding or pressure build up

Reduced
environmental
impact
Elite Tooling installed a Filtramag
magnetic filter on a Walter
Helitronic Power Grinder, used
for manufacturing carbide
cutting tools, and were able
cut consumable costs and sell
collected contamination for
recycling.

Increased production
efficiency
Honda installed a Micromag on
a bespoke machine used for
manufacturing engine valve seats
– where accuracy and finish quality
is critical. Not only was part quality
improved but the filter’s minimal
maintenance requirements meant
that machine downtime was
significantly reduced.

Significant savings
made
Auto parts manufacturer
ThyssenKrup was having to replace
one pump per week in its de-
greasing plant due to inefficient
filtration. After installing an
Eclipse Magnetics filter before the
pumps, this figure was reduced

The BoilermagXT has a full stainless steel housing, precision
manufactured to ISO 9001:2009. It is available in 3 sizes to fit
2”, 4” and 6” pipes with PN16 or ANSI flanges.
BoilerMagXT uses high intensity rare earth magnetic rods.
Magnetic cores holding removed contamination
The BoilerMagXT magnetic filter removes ferrous
contamination from detergents, solvents, high and low pH
fluids and many other industrial fluids.
Contamination particles down to less than a micron in size
are removed. This is much smaller than can be extracted by
traditional filters. The removal of these particles results in
longer fluid life, improves the surface finish of your products,
increases component accuracy and reduces wear on your
machinery and tools.
BoilerMagXT uses permanent magnets so does not require
power to operate and is always working. It has no moving
parts and does not require maintenance.
No consumables are used – contamination is quickly and
easily removed as a semi dry 'cake' that can be easily disposed
of as scrap without losing expensive fluid.

Magnetic Filtration
HPS, HPA and HPN Series
Our Magnetic Indexing Drum Filters, both standard
ferrite ceramic drum as well as the rare earth
Neodymium Iron Boron Magnetic drum, are the
leaders in the industry in design and magnetic field
strength. The Neo filter provides strengths of 10X
that of standard ferrite ceramic!
What sets us apart is our raised pole drum
construction and the logic employed to index the
drum, automatically on demand. Compared to
smooth cylindrical drums that rotate continuously,
our raised pole design provides 40% more magnetic
surface area per linear foot. And because the
drum is not rotated continuously, the captured
contaminants being discharged are drier which
reduces coolant loss. Our automatic indexing
control logic will only rotate the drum when the
fluidic probe generates a signal, as the captured
contaminants continue to build up in the intense
magnetic field. The purpose behind this circuitry
is to maintain the optimum porosity of the filter
matrix and thus using the matrix to capture some
non-magnetic particles as well as heavy oils and
greases. The most-reliable, ultra-efficient filtration
and removal of magnetic and non-magnetic
contaminants, from metal-working fluids.
