Representative Accomplishments
Quickly resolved difficult product performance problem. System wet clean cycle times were
excessive, costing customers $100K to $1M per day in lost productivity. Oversaw internal task force,
teaming with AMAT engineers to identify problems and initiate process improvements to slash cycle times
63% and boost CSI as well as new orders.
Replaced cumbersome/expensive global field service systems, melding them into mainstream
AMAT function to cut almost $4M in annual costs. Field service systems across seven countries were
incompatible with those at HQ. Led international team, designing solution that seamlessly solved problem
to save 26,000 man-hours.
Played key role in product standardization project. With no central location for product
performance specifications, HQ mandated the Product Specification Library initiative. Played critical part
in defining common specification template and standard business process for creating/updating all
product specifications. PSL will be vital to cost control as well as the efficiency/accuracy of responses to
changing customer specifications.
Initiated enterprise process improvements, optimizing productivity of outsourced technical teams to
prevent millions of dollars in lost orders/order fulfillment delays. AMAT had shifted design of system
installation templates, but India personnel were taking 5-6 times longer than normal to complete the
process. Teamed with internal system support group, instituting new technical, training and process
improvements to reduce design times by 82%.
Engineered significant improvement in order delivery times. Lead time for Non System Orders
was excessive. Streamlined process, gaining a net improvement of 10 days. This success not only
achieved a substantial reduction in costs, but boosted CSI to foster a significant improvement in future
business from worldwide customer base.
Enabled immediate access to key financial and performance metrics, giving AMAT executives real-
time data critical to their strategic global business decisions. In the semiconductor equipment industry,
one key to maintaining a competitive edge is timely, accurate business information. Introduced Executive
Dashboard, a system providing ready access to a one-source, multi-faceted data system that also saved
literally thousands of man-hours per year.
