ISIT201/MTS9201/MCS9301 Information and Communication Security
Spring Session 2014 (Wollongong Campus)
Assignment 1 Mini Presentation
This assessment guide has been designed to assist you in the preparation of your
assessment for the subject ISIT201/MTS9201/MCS9301. Please ensure that you
understand the requirements of each assessment and that your submission matches what
is required.
It is expected that all assignments are completed independently. Plagiarism may result in a
FAIL grade being recorded for that assignment.
Submission of Assessment Items
A hard copy of the assessment work is to be submitted to your tutor during your
allocated tutorial unless otherwise notifed.
A soft copy of the assessment work is to be submitted to the Moodle. It should be
placed under the relevant Assignment folder associated with the topic to be
delivered in that week.
If you cannot submit an assessment item during your tutorial then it must be
submitted to the tutor as soon as possible. Late submission of assessment items
MUST be accompanied by an academic consideration application via SOLS;
otherwise it will be treated as late submission and thus incur penalties as described
in the subject outline.
All submissions must be accompanied by a SISAT Assignment Cover Sheet. This is
available in hard copy from the student enquiry centre in Building 4. An electronic
copy is placed under Topic 1 in Moodle
All submissions must also be accompanied by a copy of the marking sheet with
student details completed.

Mini Presentation
Overview
Type of assessment: individual
Weighting: 5%
Due: Week 3 - 4 completed during your allocated tutorial
Time: 5 minute presentation, 2 minutes question and answer.
Instructions
During week 3 4 tutorial session, each student is required to give a fve (5) minute talk to
the class based on a current (within the last 12 months) online or ofine news article on an
ICT security breach. A copy of the article and a 300 word critical summary is to be
submitted at the completion of the presentation. Your story should contain the following
information:
What happened?
Why? This might be your assumption based on a critical analysis of the situation.
How did it happen?
What were the consequences?
What can we learn from the event?
Ideally, this presentation is aided by PowerPoint slides to enhance the efect of
communication. A soft copy of the PowerPoint slides is submitted to Moodle to assist the
teaching team to assess the quality of your delivery.
The Critical Summary should include eight elements that you must complete for the article.
1)Short article summary: Provide a 2-sentence summary of the article
2)What happened?
3)Why? This might be your assumption based on a critical analysis of the situation.
4)How did it happen?
5)What were the consequences?
6)What can we learn from the event?

The presentation is to get you to start speaking in front of the class.
