Lord Hutton to close PMI Autumn Conference

The Pensions Management Institute (PMI) today announced that Lord Hutton would be closing this
year’s autumn conference addressing the topic of ‘An ageing population - funding long-term
care and the role of pension funds’.
Vince Linnane, CEO of PMI commented: ‘With the ever evolving changes in the pensions market it is
vital that, as educational leaders, we are at the forefront of debate. One of the biggest issues that an
ageing population brings is for pension funds to generate sufficient income for all stages of later life
particularly if there are any health problems that require often expensive solutions.”
He added: “As automatic enrolment reached its first birthday last week, it is important that the industry
stops to evaluate what has been achieved with its engagement to an audience new to retirement
saving, and what further challenges are still to be overcome.”

The popular annual conference takes place on Wednesday 20 November at London’s One Moorgate
Place and is open to pension specialists (administrators, managers and consultants), third party
administrators, trustees, employers, HR staff, investment managers, financial advisers and pension
lawyers. There are also a select number of places available to the press.
The programme will examine the ‘Pensions Melting Pot’ and includes topics on regulation, current DC
issues, automatic enrolment – the story so far, the psychology of decision making when thinking about
funding and better outcomes for DC members. It will be opened by Gregg McClymont, Shadow
Pensions Minister who will be interviewed by John Greenwood from the Telegraph followed by
key industry figures such as Andrew Warwick Thompson from the Pensions
Regulator, Francois Barker from Eversheds LLP and Margaret Snowdon OBE, Chair of PASA and
Director at JLT Trustee Solutions.
