The Computer Science programme is
aimed at people who would like to work with
development, planning, implementation and
operation of business management systems. The programme meets demands from
the business sector for improved theoretical knowledge and a broad profile within IT.
Thus, the programme offers a wide range of applications within IT. The AP Degree
programme in Computer Science is the first two years of a Bachelor’s programme.
The Computer Science programme is an advanced, business-oriented systems
developer/programmer programme lasting 2½ years. The programme will provide
you with extensive knowledge of systems development and design. Teaching is
closely related to the industry and includes a variety of teaching formats, e.g.
classroom teaching, project teaching and exercise classes.
The programme is divided into five semesters consisting of a combination of IT-
disciplines and a number of commercial subjects, e.g. business organisation,
economics, production management and environmental conditions in the industry.
The first four semesters are subject oriented and in the fifth semester the main thesis
is elaborated in close co-operation with a company in Denmark or abroad.
The programme is taught in English.
The Computer Science programme opens the way for exiting job perspectives, and at the
same time the programme can be used as a springboard to further education and training.
After completion of the Computer Science programme the students are qualified to work with
topical computer issues and will therefore be able to develop, update and maintain software
and IT systems or continue on a bachelor top-up programme.
The first four semesters take place at the Business Academy. The last semester is
planned entirely by you. It can be spent on projects in Denmark or abroad. It is
compulsory to collaborate with an external partner for the main project.

The compulsory part
The core competences of the education are software construction and software
design. These subjects are supported by the subject areas IT technology and
Networks as well as Business Economics

Specialisation
In the 4th semester of the programme, you have to put together your own
specialisation course, which will add a unique profile to your qualification. We offer a
series of changing subjects as new relevant subjects surface. The subjects changes
from time to time in order to ensure that the subjects we offer are always up to date.
Subjects may be e.g. C#, databases, mobile programming and advanced web
programming.

Internship
The internship is placed om the 5th semester. The internship gives you the
opportunity to use the theoretical knowledge you have obtained in “real life”. At the
same time your chances of quick access to an exciting job will be strengthened. It is
your responsibility to find a company for the trainee period, however Business
Academy Aarhus has a list of contacts and job options available.

Main project

an extension of your internship, which will typically form the basis for the final project.
EXAMINATIONS
The Computer Science programme uses several forms of examination, from individual to project
exams.
1st YEAR EXAM PROJECT (EXTERNAL)
The purpose of the first year is to give students the skills independently and in collaboration with
others primarily to develop single-user systems. The first year ranges from the subject of pre-
analysis to administration and operation. This takes place using a systematic progression
incorporating technological and business aspects.
PROGRAMMING EXAM - 3rd SEMESTER ORAL (INTERNAL)
No later than a week prior to the examination a list of main subjects in the area of Programming
will be published. The main subjects include the most important subjects in the area and form the
basis of the Programming part of the examination. At the examination the student draws a subject.
The student is expected to be able to present the drawn Programming topic. The presentation must
include both a theoretical presentation and a review of practical programming examples.
TECHNOLOGY EXAMINATION - 3rd SEMESTER ORAL (INTERNAL)
The student draws a question in the area of Technology. The main emphasis is on the subject of
Computer Networks and Distributed Systems. System development examination – 4th semester
Project (internal) For the oral part of the examination, students will be examined in the whole of
the subject of System Development. The project is usually carried out in project groups of 3-4
students.
SPECIALIST SUBJECT EXAMINATION 4th SEMESTER
Synopsis + oral (internal) During the examination the student presents his/her individual subject
as described in the specialist subject report. The subsequent examination is based on the
examinee's presentation and report, but other topics from the subject and any optional modules
may also be incorporated. Work experience examination – 5th semester Synopsis + oral (internal)
Participants: The student and work experience tutors from the educational establishment. At the
examination, the student presents and details his/her individual course as described in the
synopsis. The subsequent examination is based on the examinee's presentation.
EXAMINATION IN THE FINAL EXAMINATION PROJECT 5th SEMESTER
Project (external) The subject of the final examination project is formulated by the student in
consultation with the Academy and as far as possible in consultation with a company. The Academy
approves the wording of the project. The examination in the final examination project therefore
comprises a project and an oral part. The final examination project must document that the level
required at the final examination of the course has been attained. The examination project usually
takes place in groups of up to 3 students. The examination project is submitted to the Academy in
the form of a report and a product, if applicable, in three copies. The product may be e.g. a
programme, a system, an analysis or a survey.

Bachelor ICT & Business
Bachelor ICT & Business
Nowadays Business processes make use of ICT more and more and Business IT-specialists know
how to apply ICT in organizations to achieve their objectives. A Business IT-specialist knows how to
analyze organizations and business processes but is also able to give advice on solutions and transfer
these solutions into design and – also important – to implement their designs.

Business Information Technology is a wide study field focussed on business processes and how to
improve these processes by using ICT and also to make them quicker, cheaper and more client
friendly. A Business IT-specialist can build bridges and knows how to cooperate and communicate:
with management and the clients to find out what the organization is looking for. This means working
together with ICT-developers who realize the solutions developed by the Business IT-specialist and
the users who have to work with them. This programme leads to the International Bachelor degree
