1.3 SCENARIO OF INDIAN PESTICIDE INDUSTRY
India is the fourth largest producer of agrochemicals globally, after United
States, Japan and China. In India, there are about 125 technical grade
manufacturers (10 multinationals), 800 formulators, over 145,000 distributors.
India’s agrochemicals Consumption is one of the lowest in the world with per
hectare consumption of just 0.58 Kg compared to US (4.5 Kg/ha) and Japan (11
Kg/ha). In India, Cotton accounts for the maximum share of pesticide
consumption, around 28%, followed by Paddy (21%). Pesticides played an
important role in the “ Green Revolution” during the 1960s and 1970s.

The total market size in India, including exports, for 2010 was approximately
Rs 80 bn. According to a latest report released by Research On India, a leading
provider of market intelligence reports on leading industries, the market is
expected to grow at CAGR of 2.38% for next 3 years.

The per hectare consumption of pesticide is low in India at 381 grams when
compared to the world average of 500 grams.

India is a major exporter of pesticides. Exports in value terms have almost
doubled from Rs 27.9 bn in 2006 to Rs 52.2 bn in 2010. Exports have grown at
CAGR of 13.48% over the past five years.
The key export destination markets are USA, U.K., France, Netherlands,
Belgium, Spain, South Africa, Bangladesh, Malaysia and Singapore

1:5 PRODUCT PROFILE: DIUREX (DIURON)

 DIUREX is for the pre-emergence control of a wide range of weeds.
 DIUREX is compatible with contact herbicides such as AZOLAN,
GLYPHOGAN, 2,4-D, diquat, paraquat, for the control of established weeds
and to prevent the emergence of new weeds.
 Mechanism Of DIUREX :- acts primarily as a soil herbicide, being absorbed
by the roots of germinating weeds and interfering with the process of
photosynthesis
