GATES OF HEAVEN, ACCORDING TO TRADITIONS Islam is a way of living according to canons of God. When Momineen (Muslims of highest rank) rise to establish and implement these canons, they are besieged from all corners, by the pretensions of the world of vested interests. It is in these times, the endurance and courage of Momineen is challenged. In order to establish Islam, constant efforts and perpetual struggle becomes indispensable. The life of a momin is the second name for character orientation towards a rigorous warrior life, that helps to mould in turn, the unnatural conditions in which he lives. Heaven is the natural consequence of devotion towards the loyal search for this balance in life. Those of us who speculate heaven as their natural birth right, no matter what they do, are warned in the Quran, wherein is written: “Do you thinketh heaven will be given to you on a silver platter? Nay! It is not possible. You will have to go through, as those, who before you wanted a change and went through. When hardships made them destitute and petrified, they wanted to know as to when their struggles and efforts will be answered? After this long toil and travail they achieved victory.†(2:214) At another instance it states: “Do you thinketh, you will enter heaven for doing nothing and without proving your deeds, as to who among you is most fortified and has endurance.†(3:142) This was the heaven that had been promised (32:17) A heaven, that was hidden in their blood, sweat and toil. This was the heaven that Quran is telling us about. And what we find in our ahadith is quite the contrary, the heaven of ahadith is all languor and lethargy. Just imagine the difference! GREETINGS: Abu Dawood writes, the Holy Messenger said, “When two Muslims shake hands, Allah forgives them, before they have even departed from each other.†HEAVEN FROM WADHU: According to a hadith in Muslim, all sins of a Muslim, are washed away in the drops of water, while doing wadhu (ablutions). INNOCENT AS A BABY: According to another hadith of Muslim, when a person does wadhu, and says his prayer with duty, he becomes just like a new born baby. In a third hadith of Muslim it is narrated that whosoever performs ablutions satisfactorily and after that recites the following holy sentences, . All the eight gates of heaven will be opened for him. Ibne Kazeema has it, that Holy Messenger inquired from Hazrat Bilal as to his deeds? He said, “I heard your footsteps in heaven and you were walking ahead of me.†Bilal replied, “There are two deeds that I always act upon. I remain in purity of ablutions. When
I become unchaste or impure, I perform ablutions again and offer two Nawafil (thanksgiving prayers). How easy it has become for a person to achieve heaven is needless to say here. All that is required of a Muslim is to remain in wadhu, and all his sins shall be washed away. When he offers Nawafil prayers he walks even ahead of Holy Messenger in heaven! STILL MORE CONVENIENT: It is written in a hadith in Muslim, whosoever repeats the words after az’aan (call for prayers) but says after words of mu’azzin (the person who calls for prayers), that person shall go straight to heaven. CONTINUE WITH YOUR SINS: According to Tibrani, it says in one hadith that when you become hot-blooded by hard work, then your morning prayers will cool you. In other words, it keeps you away from Hell. After that you work till afternoon, and your afternoon prayers cool you again. In the same way the sunset and evening prayers cool you. When you fall asleep you commit no sin. And if you have done sinful deeds at night, then the morning prayers cool you. COLLECTIVE PRAYERS: According to a hadith in Trimzi, anyone who for forty days, offers prayers with others, has become free from hell and dissension. ONE MORE TRADITION: It is written in Bokhari and Muslim, that whosoever says amin, after the priest has finished reciting ‘Fatiha’ and his words have synchronized with angels, who also say amin, that person has been condoned for his sins. We find another hadith written in Imam Malik and Bokhari, that when the priest picks his head up, while saying the words we must answer with and all our sins will be forgiven. A PLACE IN HEAVEN: So far it was about the pardoning of sins. In a hadith in Muslim, it is written that whosoever kneels and prostrates twelve times more, after the compulsory prayers, has allotted for himself a home in heaven. Trimzi says, whoever offers twenty nawafil after sunset prayers, has reserved for himself a home in heaven. Abu Dawood writes, that whoever offers four prayers before the compulsory afternoon prayers, has been pardoned from hellfire. FORGIVEN FROM SINS: It is written in Muslim, whosoever has thoroughly performed ablutions and listened to the sermon of Friday afternoon prayers quietly, he is not only forgiven from Friday to Friday, along with it he is also pardoned for three more days of sin. HEAVEN BY ROSARY: Waza’if (repeating words of Quran, to get a certain result) is the crowning characteristic of alien Islam. Whether it concerns worldly matters or a spiritual issue; it is not necessary to put any effort into it nor must you consider it a burden. All you have to do is, keep repeating the wazi’fa (singular of Waza’if) and your problem will be resolved. These same waza’if shall also lead one into heaven. For example there is a hadith in Nisa’ee that
whoever, after morning and sunset prayers, recites seven times (O Allah! Keep me away from hell) and dies within twenty four hours, shall go straight to heaven. In another hadith it is said, whoever recites the ayaat ‘Al Kursi after his prayers, goes to heaven, if he dies before his next prayer time. Trimzi says, whoever recites while lying in bed, he shall be pardoned for his sins. Whether those sins equal the foam of rivers or are equal to the amount of leaves on a tree. Whether their number is equal to the particles in sand or the number of days that have gone by. From the beginning of times till doomsday, if we count all the days, and his sins are equal to that number, he shall also be pardoned. It is in Muslim, if someone says thirty three times each, Subhan Allah, Al Hamdu lillah and Allah O Akbar after his prayers, all his sins will be forgiven. It has it in Imam Musnid that Um e HaniR requested the Messenger if he could tell her a short wazi’fa. The Messenger guided her to repeat 100 times ‘Subhan Allah.’ It is equal to setting free one hundred slaves and also those that were descendents of Hazrat Ishamael. If you repeat one hundred times, ‘Al Hamdu lillah’ it is equal to giving one hundred horses with saddles to warrior Momineen. And repeating Allah O Akbar one hundred times, is equal to sacrificing one hundred camels for the sake of Allah. Repeating La ila ha illallah, replenishes everything between the skies and earth. The day you recite this wazi’fa, that day no one will be equal to your deeds, save those who have recited the same wazi’fa. In the hadith of Hakeem, it is written that if an ailing person recites forty times and died while reciting, he is awarded the rank of ‘Shaheed’ (title of warrior momin’s death). If he is cured, he will be purified from all sins. In the establishment of the kingdom of Quran, every sacrifice counts, the most valuable of all sacrifices is that of one’s life. Quran calls these privileged human beings, ‘Muqtool fee Sabi lillah’ (those who sacrificed their lives). The rank of ‘shaheed’ is considered the supreme. Against opposition, who can be more dangerous than one who dies for Allah. It was these Muslim warriors and ‘Muqtoolain fee sabi lillah’ that annihilated the forces of evil. It was therefore, upto the world, not to let these dynamic forces consolidate or fortify themselves again. The effective method was to muddle the concepts of ‘Jihad’ and ‘Kitaal fee Sabi lillah,’ among the Muslims. Let us read how this was accomplished from our books of ahadith. It has it in a hadith of Muslim, Messenger asked, as to who do you think deserves the title of ‘shaheed?’ The audience replied, those who sacrifice their lives for the sake of Allah. The Messenger then insisted, ‘Then there will be very few, whom we could call ‘shaheed.’ People questioned again, then who else can be granted the title of ‘shaheed.’ Messenger said, “One who dies fighting in the way of Allah, is called ‘shaheed.’ One who drowns is a ‘shaheed.’ A person who got buried in debris of a fallen house is a ‘shaheed.’ It is narrated in Abu Dawood and Nisa’ee, a person who dies form pneumonia is a ‘shaheed.’ A woman who dies in pregnancy is a ‘shaheed.’ After saying all this, we also read, the concessions Allah grants to a shaheed. It is obvious that one who dies for Allah goes straight to heaven. According to traditions, a shaheed is not the only soul who enters into heaven. He takes along his relations also, into heaven. Abu
Dawood has it, the Holy Messenger said, “Shaheed is allowed from his kith and kins, seventy persons to take along with him into heaven.†It is narrated in Nisa’ee, that a person passed away in Medina. The Holy Messenger led the last prayers before his burial. After the prayers, the Messenger wished, “It would have been better, had the individual died outside the city.†The people asked him why? The Messenger said, “The distance from the place of death to his home city, is equal to the space that will be granted to the deceased in heaven.†FATHER OF GIRLS: A person is helpless, when the issue concerns offsprings whether they are male or female. There is discount even in this helplessness. It has it in Hakeem, whoever has two girls and he has been kind to them, as long as they live with him, they shall take him to heaven. In the last issue we talked, when the children are alive in the house. Now for a person who has lost his children, it has it in sahiheen (Bokhari and Muslim) ahadith, the Messenger sayeth, ‘A man who lost three minors in his lifetime, will be blessed in heaven.’ Another hadith of Bokhari and Muslim has it, when a person looses three children and then is put into hell; it is not acceptable. Just to fulfill the tradition, he will be made to walk on Pul e sirat. It has it in Nisa’ee, a woman asked the Messenger, as to what becomes of him who looses two children. The Messenger said that he has the same reward, as of him who looses three. The woman regretted, if only she had asked the Messenger the reward for losing one child. This deficiency was compensated by a hadith of Imam AhmedR. Hazrat Mu’az narrates, the Holy Messenger gave the prediction of Heaven for the loss of one child also. Heaven is granted if a woman dies of miscarriage. WOMAN OF ILL REPUTE: According to the Quran, sexual promiscuity is the biggest sin. As will be seen, even this can be easily forgiven. It is written in Bokhari, that once a bitch was dying of thirst. This woman took off her sock, tied it to her long scarf and managed to get some water from a nearby well. For this she was awarded heaven! RELEASE OF PRISONERS FROM HELL: Imam Beh’qee has it, in Ramadan nights, 600,000 hellfire prisoners are released every night. On the last night of Ramadan, the total previous number of prisoners are released from hell. The Muslim has it, a person who fasts on the ninth day of Zilhij shall be condoned for his sins for the previous and the following years. Also a person who fasts on the tenth of the month of Muharram shall be condoned for all his sins for the previous year. KILLING OF CHAMELEONS AND SNAKES: The Muslim has it, if an individual kills a chameleon in one strike, he is blessed more than a person who kills in two strikes. A person who kills it in two strikes is blessed more than a person who kills in three strikes. Abu Dawood has it, whenever there is a snake in the house, upon sighting, a person should
say to it, ‘I swear upon you the promises, of Messengers NoahPBUH and SulaimanPBUH, that you made with them. Do not hurt me.’ if you see it again after that, then you are allowed to kill it. According to Abu Dawood that person is awarded the equivalent of seven good deeds. RECITING OF QURAN: Quran is the legal code of Allah’s system, upon the canons of which the social fabric is knitted. Now, we all know, laws are made to be implemented, and if the Muslim ummah had continued to apply the laws of Quran, the evil forces would never have gained strength. So the basic or primary planning of opposition was to somehow hide the real Islam. The first thing they did was to tell the Muslims, that Quran is only meant for reading and not for applying. A person is blessed and pardoned for his sins by only reading it. As far as the application of Quran is concerned, they propagated, it was only to ward off evil spirits and ghosts. Now we can only apply Quran in our lives, when we fully understand whatever is written in it, and that is given to our contemplative human faculties. Our traditions put an end to this purpose also, and said that we are forgiven by only reciting it, whether we understand it or not. That is how the Muslims were coerced into and made to confuse themselves, about the Quran. The whole literature of hadith is replete with traditions of reciting the Quran. It is written in sahiheen, one companion of the Messenger was reciting the Quran. His horse was tied beside him, that began to feel agitated. So this person ended his recitation and when he looked up towards the sky, he saw many lamps that were moving upwards. In the morning, when the man mentioned this to the Messenger, he told him, ‘They were angels who had come down to listen to your Quran. If you would have continued to read, you would have seen amazing things.’ Another hadith in Muslim states, the Messenger saideth, ‘The last verses of chapters ‘Fatiha’ and ‘Baq’ra’ are two lamps of light, that had not been granted to any other Messenger before me. Whosoever, recites even one word of it, shall be given the light.’ Hakeem has it, that a house that recites the ayaat of ‘Kursi’ shall overpower the satan, who will run away from that home. Trimzi has it, if you recite the last two verses of Baq’ra in a jungle for three nights and days, there shall be no influence of satan in that area. Nisa’ee has it, the chapter of ‘yaseen’ is considered the heart of the Quran. A person who recites this chapter to please almighty and for his hereafter, shall be pardoned. You may recite it for your beloved ones who have passed away. Trimzi has it, that whoever reads ‘Yaseen’ once, it is equivalent to the blessings of reading the whole Quran ten times. Muta Imam MalikR has it, when the Messenger heard a person saying (Kul ho wallah hoahad), he said, it has been granted to him. Someone asked, what has been granted to him? The Messenger replied, ‘Heaven has been granted to him!’
Hakeem writes that Allah listens closely to the recitation of the Quran by a sweet voice, just as a music listener enjoys a melodious voice. HEAVEN IS FOR THE WEAK: In order to overcome evil forces, it is necessary to have more power than evil. That is why Islam is a system of force and empowerment. It says (power and establishment is for Allah’s army). Time and again it reminds the Muslims to always have in reserve power enough, so that the opposition is spellbound and enthralled in awe. It was the united group of Momineen, that shattered to pieces the glamour and glitter of rapacious kingdoms. The opposition knew, unless they did not take the thought out that ‘power has divine significance,’ from the minds of Muslims, they will never ever be victorious. That was the reason, the opposition began to fabricate ahadith that glorified ‘weakness as a divine quality.’ That the weak ones are closer to Allah, as they are dependent and helpless. These are those that have been humiliated and degraded in their lives. Thus Muslim and Bokhari have it, the Messenger said, ‘I saw in heaven majority of those who were walking symbols of helplessness in this world.’ Tibrani has it, the Messenger said, ‘My hose is very wide and long. The quantity of those who come to drink from it, is equal to the number of stars in the sky. Its water is whiter than ice and sweeter than honey.’ Someone inquired as to the attire and condition of these kind of people. And who are these people? The Messenger said, ‘The same ones with ruffled hair and shabby clothes, the elite are ashamed to give their daughters’ hands. Nobody even wants to go near them. They are so weak any one can get on their chests to get their share. If anyone owes them anything, these people are weak and helpless.’ These were the characteristics and traits of those who are closer to Allah. Depressed countenance, down and out state an filthy attire; nobody wants these people near them. They have become so weak that a strong hand will walk all over them and these paupers can do nothing about it… Strange! Ibne Maja says the Messenger liked the poor and pauper so much, he often prayed: O Allah! I wish to be a pauper when alive and meek when I die, and weak in the hereafter also. According to Quran, poverty is a curse. When it talks about Jews the Quran says: It is written in Bokhari and Muslim, the Messenger told them about those who will be granted heaven. These meek, lowly down trodden are those Muslims, that if they ever swear upon Allah, He will make their swearing come true. Tibrani says, the Messenger saideth, ‘There are those in my ummah, when they ask you for a penny you will not give them. And when they ask Allah for heaven, they shall be granted. These are same people who roam around in tattered clothes and ruffled hair, helplessness has made them down-and-out. And when they swear upon Allah, He will make their swears come true. This misery, povery, anxiety, helplessness and dependence upon others, is declared as the glory of Muslims. It has been brainwashed into their minds, that misery and poverty are punishments for their sins for which they will be forgiven in the hereafter.
HURDLES AND HARDSHIPS IN EXCHANGE FOR SINS: Hence it is written in Imam Musnid, the Messenger saideth, ‘When the sins of a person, accumulate in quantity and there is no way out, then AllahSWT involves us in grief and anxiety and hardship. These hardships are the answer to our sins we committed. EVEN DISEASE: It has it in Tibrani, when a momin falls into disease, AllahSWT cleanses and purifies him from all sins. Just as fire cleanses the iron from rust and grime that is on it. It is written in Bokhari, when a person falls sick or is on a journey, AllahSWT commands His angels to compensate that person, for his time being consumed in sickness and journey. It is in Imam Musnid, the sins of a sick and ailing person fall like leaves from a tree in autumn. A healthy momin is cleansed from sins and if he dies he has been protected from further sins. HEAVEN FOR FEVER: In one hadith it is written, the Holy Messenger said, ‘Fever and other sins are forgiven, even if the quantity of these sins is equal to mount Uhad. Even one day in fever, takes away all the sins of a person. (Ibne abi Dunya) HEAVEN FOR BLINDNESS: Bokhari has it, when AllahSWT takes away the eyes of a person, heaven is bestowed to that individual in his afterlife as compensation. LIFE IN ISOLATION: The Quran talks about the family of Momineen, that they are the central nation of the world, (so they maybe able to supervise mankind). And whoever has deviated from its path, is put back on it. On the countrary, our ahadith tell us, that Allah’s supreme human beings are those who remain in isolation in their houses and cry on their sins. Trimzi has it, someone asked the Messenger, as to how can one be delivered. The Messenger told him, ‘Sit in the house, cry on your sins and just keep your mouth shut.’ Abu Dawood has written, the Messenger predicted, a time will come when promises and commitments shall no longer remain binding. Trust will be of no value. Knitting the fingers of his hands together, the Messenger said, ‘that is how they will entangle themselves, as the cloth or fabric is knitted. Ibne AbbasR asked him as to what should be done at such a time. The Messenger replied, ‘Just sit down in the house and cry on the day you were born. Do away with your public life and do no evil, and you will save your life from hell. The hadith goes so far to say, that a person must leave the urban areas and go to a jungle. It also has it, praying in congregation is equivalent to twenty-five prayers. And praying in a jungle is equivalent to fifty prayers. (Abu Dawood). The hadith is talking about the same monastic way of life that is completely repugnant to the teachings of Quran. The hadith tells us to adopt a jungle life and if a person lives in a city then one must always sit in the house quietly. Beh’qee has it that one day the Messenger was delivering a sermon, when a person began to cry while doing wadhu. The Messenger said, all those sitting beside him have also been blessed, even if their sins are equivalent to a mountain.
In the same book is an incident of Ansari; he became so spellbound by the wrath of God that he cried all the time. When the Messenger came to know about it, he went to his place of residence and hugged him. Ansari became so perplexed and nervous that he instantly died. (Beh’qee) HEAVEN BY FUNERAL ATTENDANCE: Muslim has it, the Messenger said, ‘When forty people attend the funeral of any person, AllahSWT pardons his sins. Abu Dawood has it, that a funeral prayer that has an attendance of three rows of Muslims, that dead person has become mandatory for heaven. Still more comes from a hadith; in Beh’qee it says when any person shall be commanded to enter into hellfire—on approaching the gates of hell, if he looks hither and thither and says, ‘I had, swear upon God, good expectations from God.†A voice shall boom and command, “Release him, I am closer to my mans’ intentions.†In short these are the techniques to achieve heaven, about which the Quran says that one has to go through spine chilling and hair splitting episodes and stages. So much so, the Messenger himself and his companionsR, begin to look towards the sky in nervousness. Heaven is inference of this supreme kind of ideological revolution, because of which all authority from every vested interest is stripped and given back to the laws of AllahSWT. No man remains enslaved by any other human, nor dependent upon him. In this revolution, neither any glamour is left of any fort, nor the pomp and show of any palace. Neither monasteries are permitted anymore to exhibit illusions of gods, nor are the priestcraft authorized to lead and grant decrees. This revolution was no business deal, it was a war cry against all classes of vested interest. That is why when Islam lent a jawbreaker, man became so bamboozled, that in retaliation he began to fabricate and concoct parables, that were figments of his own imagination. The incorrigible and imbecile state of man’s mind can well be assessed by the following hadith, after which we think, there is nothing left anymore that can be said on this topic. “The Messenger said, ‘I swear upon that Entity, in whose possession is my life, even if all of you become so pure, that you are incapable of committing any sin, then AllahSWT will appoint in your place another culture and take you away from this earth. The characteristics of this culture shall be to commit sins and then ask forgiveness from AllahSWT.†(Abu Huraira in Muslim) As we wrote in the beginning of this chapter, the culmination of Deen is the achievement of heaven. It is for this purpose that a Muslim spends all his life rigorously. The deeds of Momineen group that are all focused towards this achievement are the causes for this Great Revolution, first it takes place locally and then universally. Now if Muslims are taught, if they do no wrong, then AllahSWT shall appoint another culture in their place, imagine what would be the situation or scenario of that culture. And when they do become prepared for good deeds, they are told of so many short cut techniques to heaven, it diminishes the little bit of rigor left in them. It was this pathetic fact that made Iqbal write the following words with his blood: Though my style maybe not too glamorous, Hope these words, make your heart amorous. Be it, man’s eternal call for Allah, in this vast life; Or be it on this earth, rosary and rituals in rife.
That superman’s self aware religion, drenched in God, This priestly religion of still life, make belief or clod! (Translation of Allama Iqbal) Today, ‘this priestly religion of still life, make belief or clod!’ can be testified and easily ascertained from these above quoted and fabricated ahadith and traditions. These traditions upon the denial of which, we are decreed by Mullas as ‘Kafir’ (atheist). ************ (To be continued)
