Albany County Sheriff Craig D. Apple, Sr. reports that two more search warrants were executed during
the early evening hours of Tuesday, August 5, 2014. These warrants were associated with the large
scale heroin operation that had been plaguing Capital Region neighborhoods which was taken down
late last week when investigators executed search warrants netting more than 15 ounces of heroin that
was found at the two residences — 1779 Central Ave., Colonie, and 2185 River Road, Coeymans. In
those cases sheriff’s officials also located $32,000 in cash and a quantity of cocaine and marijuana.

Apple said the four-month investigation by the Sheriff’s Criminal Investigation Unit and special agents
from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives found the organization sold heroin at
local malls, including Crossgates and Colonie Center, specifically in food courts and the new Dave and
Buster’s at Crossgates.

Investigators assigned to the Albany County Criminal Investigation Unit and Special Agents from the
Division of Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms executed the most recent search warrants. The search
warrants were executed at 624J South Pearl Street and 637M South Pearl Street in Albany’s south end
where officials recovered more than 250 bags of heroin.

Arrested was Luis C. Ayala, (47) of 624J South Pearl Street, Albany; Carolyn Flood (47) of 624J
South Pearl Street, Albany; and Jenny Basilio (26) of 637M South Pearl Street, Albany.

Luis C. Ayala faces the charges of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 3
rd
degree, a
class “B” Felony in the City of Albany and was remanded to the Albany County Jail. Ayala is also
facing similar charges in the Town of Green Island.

Carolyn Flood faces charges of two counts of Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance in the 3
rd

degree, a class “B” Felony and remanded to the Albany County Jail with no bail.

Jenny Basilio faces charges of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 3
rd
degree, a class
“B” Felony in the Town of Green Island and remanded to the Albany County Jail, and is also facing
similar charges in the City of Albany.
