Ther,al aspects are the critical aspects in tube per;or,ance and its reliabilit1% 'ue ther,al
and structural considerations need to be gi)en in designing the )arious asse,blies o; TWT%
6or e<a,ple" in electron gun asse,bl1" the heat source is heater po5er as the ther,ionic
cathodes are e,plo1ed as electron source% Su;;icient care need to be ta3en in designing the
cathode and its support" heat shield" .6E and their support to ,ini,iIe the heat drain so that
desired cathode operating te,perature can be achie)ed at the ,ini,u, heater po5er to
ensure the long li;e operation% In SWS asse,bl1 the source o; heat generation is bea,
interception as 5ell as R6 ;lo5 on the circuit% In collector asse,bl1" the source o; heat is high
energ1 electron bea,% In asse,blies li3e SWS" R6 Coupler and collector" su;;icient care is
ta3en to dissipate a5a1 the heat generated as Juic3l1 as possible%
