The perfect complement to pneumatic
components
At Festo, electric drives do not compete with pneumatic drives, but are instead the perfect
complement to their capabilities. Latest example: The electric piston rod cylinder DNCE
precise positioning or format stting within the cylinder housing.
The optimum automation
solution utilises the specific
strengths of modern drive tech-
nologies. Electric drives are pre-
cise and flexible. This makes them
the ideal solution when forces
have to be rapidly dissipated and
positions approached with preci-
sion. The electric piston-rod cylin-
der DNCE is now ready for use
alongside electric toothed belts,
handling and cantilever axes, mini
slides, handling modules, servo
drives and motors. It is the appli-
cation that determines the type
of drive: A lead screw spindle drive
is used for format setting in print-
ing machines, packaging machines
and in feed technology, while ball
screws are needed for dynamic
push-pull applications, such as
volumetric filling or stacking CDs,
for example.
Proven mechanical system
Standardised on the outside,
state-of-the-art on the inside
this applies not only to the proven
standards-based cylinder DNC,
but also to its electric sibling, the
DNCE. The DNCE also relies on
the sturdy and reliable mechanical
system of the DNC. This includes
the robust construction, long
service life, reliability of all the
components and the broad range
of accessories. The DNCE is also
compatible with all DNC mounting
attachments guide units and
piston rod accessories, making
expensive in-house produced
parts a thing of the past.
Flexible positioning
The DNCE is the first choice when
freely programmable positions,
judder-free behaviour, gentle
acceleration or an application-
specific positioning profile is need-
ed. Various travel profiles, speeds,
travel distances and acceleration
can be programmed freely and are
set in the FCT software from Festo.
The simple commissioning process
is also carried out using this PC
software.
Ready-to-install solution
The DNCE is available and sup-
plied with the intelligent motor
unit MTR-DCI or a servo motor
in the form of a fully assembled
system solution, thus creating
the ideal unit. Integrated sensing
included: The limit switches sit
flush in the profile slot, and are
thus protected, so there is no need
for an additional mounting kit.

at the click of a mouse: The FCT software
helps the user to easily make the neces-
sary settings for the DNCE or any other
electric drive from Festo.
