YOUth & Leadership
Introduction:

Survey Objective
To understand the perception and self-concept of young people about themselves in
relation to leadership.
To provide measurable data on the topic.
To understand the actual and specific needs of youths today, specific areas for improvement
and growth as it concerns leadership development.

Purpose
The data from this research survey will be used as a resource for writing papers, articles and
developing leadership training programs for the youths in our communities and institutions.

Methodology
The questionnaire was administered online via Google Forms with a sharable link. 282 young people
between the ages of 13 and 28 years old from 34 countries across North America, South America,
Asia, Africa, Europe, and Australia participated. Given that more than 81% of internet users (social
media) are young people between the age brackets stated above, an online survey was created, with
a sharable link on Social media platforms, websites, pages and group pages. The questionnaire was
administered from October 2013 to December 2013.

Report
This report presents the survey results through:
Frequency tables: the sizes and percentages are presented in tables and graphs.
Cross tabulation: The correlations between two variables are analyzed.

The Socio-economic classing (SEC) is as follows:

SEC-h: High School student
SEC-u: College/University student
SEC-w: Working with full-time employment
SEC-g: Graduated but not employed
SEC-n: Not in employment, education or training (NEET)
Other: Other
