(August 31, 2014) Twenty-Second Sunday in Ordinary Time Todays gospel challenges families: are we living by Gods standards or by human ones? Families today are assailed by a consumer culture that tells us we are what we own. To us Jesus responds: What profit would there be for one to gain the whole world and forfeit his life? Think long term and sacrifice for that which is eternal. Dont shortcut effort or short sell time with your family.
326 Holy Hours were kept with Jesus last week in Eucharistic Adoration. Eucharistic Adoration provides us with a chance to be with our Savior one on one. Through this practice, we are invited to spend time alone with God in his real, physical form and to bring to Jesus all our cares, concerns, prayers, hopes and thoughts. We set aside a special time, a respite from our hectic modern lives, to create a personal space in which to meet our God. Open hour needing an adorer or two; Wednesday 2-3 pm. Please call Judy Soltis at 330-212-0926 if you are able to assist.

She has been particularly devoted to the catechesis of the children of St. Augustine Parish and their preparation for the sacraments of First Reconciliation, First Communion and Confirmation. She has also formed our catechists in PSR and our day school and continued to form our high school youth through the Youth Group. She has coordinated our Virtus training and contributed in so many other ways to our parish. Renee is truly a gifted person and it is through her strengths and gifts that the Lord has blessed her with that she has received her degree in counseling and is now being called to help and minister to Gods people in new and exciting ways as a counselor. Renee will be leaving her ministry here at St. Augustine. She asks for your prayers as God opens her life to new horizons and she asks for your support of the person God chooses to bring to St. Augustine to step into the role of DRE and Youth Minister. On behalf of our staff, parishioners and myself as pastor: Thank you Renee and may God bless the work of your hands in new and wondrous ways! Christs Peace! Fr. David Majikas Cards Anyone? Euchre will be held Friday, September 5. Cards begin at 6:30pm in the school cafeteria. Beginners and experienced players are welcome to try a hand. Come and enjoy an evening of fellowship and fun!

I would also like to thank all of our volunteers, you are too numerous to name but I thank all of you for your part in the success of the picnic. I am humbled by your willingness to serve and your commitment to giving of your time and talent. Many hands truly made light work. Thank you again and God bless you all! Now rustle up some shut-eye!
