One Big Ass Mess America
Not exactly a sapid sense of mind. According to the left, the Constitution is "fundamentally flawed because it is a concrete, tangible document based on moral absolutes, granting individuals superior power over their government.” There are endless red flags, aren't there? The covert government of antisocial Czars; the cozy ties to Bill Ayers and Jeramiah Wright, maybe George Soros and who knows what else, because Obama's private world has been hermetically sealed. We oppose the government controlling our lives, especially health care, but he rams legislation down our throats anyway. So is this what we’re saying?: that President Bare Heart is at the helm with a bunch of loose Pelosi cannons running the show? That he's giving a wink-wink to miscreants both here and abroad? That the New Weird Order is starting to unhinge the already unbalanced, and that BOphobia is real, to be ignored at our peril? Yes. But don't listen to anyone: not the mental midgets who call you "racist;" not your brother in law who says you're nuts; not the Talking Heads who paint you as stupid. Pay attention to no one, to nothing, except the glare of truth before your very eyes.

It was an ER nurse. She said , "I'm the one who just sent you a text, not your husband." The wife left Southern Clinic in Dothan and drove all night. A Hero’s Welcome

A cowboy appeared before St. Peter at the Pearly Gates. 'Have you ever done anything of particular merit?' St. Peter asked. 'Well, I can think of one thing,' the cowboy offered. 'On a trip to the Black Hills out in South Dakota , I came upon a gang of bikers, who were threatening a young woman. I directed them to leave her alone, but they wouldn't listen. So, I approached the largest and most tattooed biker and smacked him in the face . Kicked his bike over, ripped out his nose ring, and threw it on the ground. I yelled, 'Now, back off or I'll kick the shit out of all of you!' St. Peter was impressed, 'When did this happen? The cowboy said "Oh, couple minutes ago." Aw man.

Dennis Gerwing: Murderer/Suicide/both or just a

Patsey?
By Roger Franklin.

All New Voids

Dennis Gerwing
All The Missing Dots

Twenty-one months later, with little more than far reaching circumstantial evidence, the official report has it that Dennis Gerwing killed two people and then himself. However, the general public’s concensus is divided into two camps. One has them in protective custody, and the other believes it to have been a professional hit. Just when we thought things couldn’t get murkier, along comes another dangling participle that has somehow escaped, or is being suppressed by, official scrutiny and raises no questions by a complacent local media content to assume more answers than pertinent questions asked. According to LISA ALLEN, Beaufort Gazette writer that penned the first "Calverts Declared Dead" revelation last month, –Nov 3– re. "Of that embezzled, (2.2 million) $119,028.

was from the Calverts' businesses, said Tom Duke, an Atlanta accountant hired by the conservators of the Calverts' estate." Other than the Calvert's $119,000.00., no additional information has surfaced. Here we go again with the missing dots. Not a word regarding the companies or name(s) of the individuals that lost over 2 million or what kind of relationship they may have had with Mark King, Gerwing or the Calverts. Odd that nobody's seems to be asking who they are. (Thank you CK) Two million bucks “from other clients of The Club Group”. Rail staff communications with Gazett writer Lisa Allen produced her assumption that perhaps they had already been paid back and had no reason to be named. So, a $119,000.00 is the official incentive for Gerwing to murder the Calverts. The authorities want us to believe that Gerwing murdered alone and the Coroner's report wants us to believe that he then killed himself in a "motivated suicide". Motivated by what? All kinds of "facts" point to Gerwing acting alone. The 3 dropcloths he bought to “remove the bodies” and his missing 22 pistol. Plus the rubber gloves and the bandaids and rear seat removal info have ostensibly convinced the authorities that it had to have been him. All over $119,000.00. Recalling the empty wine bottle found at Gerwing's death scene, as so stated in the BCSO Summary report, and that according to the toxicology report i.e. “there was no alcohol found in his body”, document yet more questions left dangling. We suppose one could assume that he brought the bottle along to break up and slash himself to death with before opting for the serrated knife but this silly assumption would indicate that Gerwing planned to kill himself before he moved in. If that’s true, why not bring a razor?

The latest of so many items signaling that Gerwing committed neither murder nor suicide, is this recent $119,000.00. revelation. Consider the Packet piece published Thursday, March 13, 2008, where Sheriff Tanner stated that “Gerwing had been dead for 10 hours before being named a person of interest.” So, where’s the motivation for the "motivated suicide"? If there’s anything to this assertion, now that the Calverts are “officially” dead, that it was a triple murder is not out of the question. If it were a triple murder, it had to have been someone angry enough, or fearful enough, and with a pipeline to professional killers and the wherewithal to pay their price. Or #2, someone involved in the embezzling themselves and needing a fall-guy. Just as believable as Gerwing acting alone and then opting for suicide, is the scenario that he knew too much and had to go. If it was a snatch perpetrated by pros, and he was the last to see them alive, then Gerwing would not only have known that the Calverts removal was a work in progress, but temporarily needed to pass along their whereabouts. Shadowy stuff. And finally, the protective custody theory. Protected from who and why? Whether the FBI or the bad guys, the only logical conclusions are that the Calverts’ were subjected to some heavy hitters, and Dennis Gerwing is no longer around to point a finger. We can also conclude that the local media has for whatever reason(s) washed it’s hands of further coverage and that the Calverts disappearance will be a subject of lively conversation for bar-side Sherlocks for years to come. Perhaps the media so chooses to distance itself from the embarrassment of botching coverage of the Island’s most sensational event. rf

“The Dems have screwed this Country up and the Republicans have let them get away with it.”
lished in 1965 and after a mere 44 years they are both broke. No surprise that a Democrat controlled Congress under President Johnson ran it through. * Freddie Mac was established in 1970. They have had 39 years to get it right and it is broke. Dem President Franklin D. Roosevelt and Congress created Fannie Mae in 1938 in order to buy mortgages from lenders. * The Department of Energy was created in 1977 by the Dem Jimmy Carter to lessen our dependence on foreign oil. It has ballooned to 16,000 employees with a budget of $24 billion a year and we import more oil than ever before. After 32 years to get that right, it’s an abysmal failure.

Never underestimate the power of stupid people in large groups

Taking Stock
Holy Molé folks, has the whole Country gone deaf, dumb and blind? Are Obama, Pelosi and all 535 voting members of the Legislature corrupt? If it weren’t such a crying shame it would be hilarious. Lil’ Joe did a little checking on the track record of our major government service programs going back a couple hundred years or so. When you look at it and add what this Mommy Party is trying to do today the immediate future looks pretty dim. * The U.S. Postal Service was established in 1775. After 234 years to get it right it is broke. * Social Security was established by the Democrats under FDR in 1935. After 74 years it is broke. * Fannie Mae was established in 1938 by the Dems and after 71 years it is broke. * War on Poverty started in 1964 by the Johnson Dems. They have had 45 years to get it right; $1 trillion of our money is confiscated each year and transferred to "the poor" and now they want more. * Medicare and Medicaid were estab-

Obama Phones?
Redistributing the wealth is what the Dems are all about evidently and although Lil’ Joe knows a few folks that are worthy and deserving, its clear that most folks are just out for anything that’s free. After I got an email from a guy that claimed that welfare recipients were eligible for free cell phones I had to check it our for myself. Holy Molé folks its true. But why would any person be in the least bit shocked? Obama is a liberal democrat. He will govern as a liberal democrat. This is only the beginning of these type of actions folks. Get used to it! I thought the most telling line of how much Obama and his team know came from a money manager commenting on the stock market's decline when Obama's big Health plan was announced. Industry is the only way ANY recession or depression has ever been overcome. Government spending has never ended ANY recession or depression.

Their record speaks for itself folks. The last great prosperity this Country enjoyed was iniated by Reagan but for some reason most people have forgotten all about that. The Dems have failed miserably in every "government service" shoved down our throats and now they want to run health care? The Democrats folks. Maybe illustrious editor Franklin was correct when he said, “The Democrats have screwed this Country up and the Republicans have let them do it”. Seems to me that the Dems are always wanting more dependents.

Renewable Fact/Fiction
How can we run this world on renewable power sources? The truth is we can’t. Opponents of the wars in the Mid-East should consider: Its the oil stupid. Indeed, it's one thing to supplement energy production with renewable sources, quite another to replace fossil fuels entirely. We currently find ourselves suspended between two ages, a time dependent on fossil fuels such as oil and coal,

Notice:

and a future dominated by renewable energy sources. Yet not everyone is sold on this vision. Options vary on just how dependable some of these renewable energy sources are, as well as how well they'll be able to sustain us in a post-fossil fuel era. Out of all this uncertainty, a number of myths, misconceptions and outright lies have risen to the surface. In this article, we'll forgo the loonier notions out there concerning new world orders and battery packs. Instead, we'll look at four of the bigger renewable energy myths currently making the rounds. 4. CLEAN COAL: As it turns out, coal is exceedingly dirty. Consider the facts: There are some 614 coal-fired power plants in the United States. Coal-fired power plants spit out 59 % of the USs' total sulfur dioxide pollution, 50 % of its particle pollution and 40 % of its total CO2 emissions [source: Sierra Club]. Factor in smog, ozone and health concerns and you have quite an environmental villain on your hands.

rail Factoids: In 2007, fossil fuels accounted for nearly 72 % of the United States' electric power production, while hydroelectric power supplied only 5.8 % and other renewables supplied 2.5 %.

3. SOLAR ENERGY: Great, it's a solar-powered bra that can juice-up a cell phone. Way to bolster solar's puny reputation, Japan! When was the last time you saw a sun-powered race car? How about a jet fighter decked out with solar panels? Chances are, the fastest and most powerful examples of technology in the world around you are powered by something other than the brilliant rays of the sun. None of this exactly helps solar power's reputation as a wimpy, low-voltage way for tree huggers to power their decorative, iridescent yard squirrels. 2. WIND TURBINES: Solar electricity isn't the only renewable energy

whipping boy out there. Wind power has also taken more than its share of lumps, frequently saddled with a reputation for excessive noise and energy inefficiency. Plus, if some of the rumors are true, wind harvesters of the world have steadily been turning the planet's bird population into an airborne puree of blood and feathers. Simply put, the wind isn't going to blow at top speed year-round. If it did, a wind turbine would produce its maximum "theoretical" power. In reality, a turbine only produces 30 percent of this amount. [source: BWEA]. 1. RENEWABLE IS WORTHLESS without Government money. What would solar energy be without government subsidies? Think back to the ridiculous solar-paneled bra. How likely are you to fill your lingerie drawer with these renewable energy undergarments? But wait, before you refuse to drop top dollar on a spaceage brassiere, think about what you'd do if you could get one for free. Then would you consider augmenting your under attire with some renewable energy?

I bought a new GMC Sierra and returned it to the dealer yesterday because I couldn't get the radio to work. The salesman explained that the radio was voice activated. 'Nelson,' the salesman said to the radio. The radio replied, 'Ricky or Willie?' 'Willie!' he continued and 'On The Road Again' came from the speakers. Then he said, ' Ray Charles!' and in an instant 'Georgia On My Mind' replaced Willie Nelson. I drove away happy, and for the next few days, every time I'd say, 'Beethoven,' I'd get beautiful classical music, and if I said, 'Beatles,' I'd get one of their awesome songs. Yesterday, some guy ran a red light and nearly creamed my new truck, but I swerved in time to avoid him. I yelled, 'Ass Hole!' Immediately the radio responded with, "Ladies and gentlemen, the President of the United States." Aw man!

Groove Tones
No true American music lover ignores the original roots sown around the turn of the 20th century and no American band today personifies them quite like the Groove Tones, In a world where change comes every other week, for something to survive for more than a century is rare indeed and the blues has done that. From the first acoustic guitarists beginning with Charlie Patton (18911934) and Robert Johnson who first gave birth from the hard times and hard living of the day to the energetic electrified sounds first heard in Chicago by McKinley Morganfield (Muddy Waters), the Groove Tones carry the torch first lit in the Mississippi Delta in the early days of the 20th century. With guitarist Bill Luebke sharing the front work and vocals with bassist Tony Reyes, and drummer Greg Gresham’s tight-pocket groove driving this band’s style of straight ahead blues rock, every show we’ve seen is no act, its been a performance. While black Americans are inclined to take credit for its advent, the truth is that Charlie Patton, Father of the Delta Blues, was a mulatto of Negro, white and Indian desent. Although we’ve heard remarks at G-Tone shows such

John was a salesman's delight when it came to buying any kind of unusual gimmicks. His wife Marsha had long ago given up trying to get him to change. One day John came home with another one of his unusual purchases. It was a robot that John claimed was actually a lie detector. It was about 5:30 that afternoon when Tommy, their 11 year old son, returned home from school over 2 hours late. "Where have you been? Why are you over 2 hours late getting home?" asked John. Several of us went to the library to work on an extra credit project," said Tommy. The robot walked around the table and slapped Tommy completely out of his chair. "Son," said John, "this robot is a lie detector, now where you really after school." "We went to Bobby's house and watched "The Ten Commandments." answered Tommy." The robot went around to Tommy and once again slapped him off his chair. With his lip quivering, Tommy got up, sat down and said, "I am sorry I lied. We really watched a tape called Sex Queen." "I am ashamed of you son," said John. "When I was your age, I never lied to my parents." The robot walked around to John and delivered a whack that nearly knocked him out of his chair... Marsha doubled over in laughter, almost in tears and said, "Boy, did you ever ask for that one! You can't be too mad with Tommy. After all, he is your son!" The robot walked around to Marsha and knocked her out! .

New Town “Visions?”
By Cork James That the majority of the residents living South of the Broad are no longer retirees and haven’t been for several years and that the tough economy has grown the working population to its highest ratio ever means among other things that while money stays tight the demographics of the working Community South of the Broad are more diverse and productive than they’ve ever been. Even while “Town” leaders continue to display their ineptitude and clueless approach to the future, grass roots residents obviously have a firmer grip as work ethic is undoubtedly better than its ever been and “close enough for Government work” doesn’t cut it when it comes time to pay the bills. Last month’s Packet coverage of the “Town’s” latest wizardry re. replacing tourism via “diversifying the Island’s economy” has working locals involved with Hospitality F&B with tongues firmly in cheek. In reference to remarks made by Town atty Curtis Coltrain re. "What does the town want to be when it grows up?", and the Mayor declaring that “it's time the town begin the next phase of its evolution”.(?) With incredibly naive notions that Tourism can be replaced by building a “replica of Mitchelville, which was the first planned village in the United States for freed slaves” and “sprucing up the Coligny-Pope Avenue area as a family-friendly business district” and “turning the Shelter Cove area into an arts and theater center” and not to mention the stunning idea of “adding more educational programs at Honey Horn?.” (Yeah right, they’ll be charging the bridge)

numbers steady there and we see this as one of the Island’s few Japanese restaurants sustaining by year’s end. The Frosty Frog has the distinction of being the Islands only frozen daquiri offering which keeps steady numbers going there which of course falls off this time of year via Coligny Plaza’s visitor destination location. The Zone is the N-ends hottest spot currently and we have to believe that the billiards room and successful concerts at the Shoreline Ballroom just across the hall are adding to this small sport’s bars viability. The Lodge is gearing up for the cooler months ahead with nightly deals highlighted by the traditional $2 Tini Tuesdays and the real music on Wed and Sundays there which features The Free Shots on Wed and the Storks on Sundays. Stellini’s has locked in the early diner’s appeal that most large restaurants strive for and the off the beaten path location has for 20 years served as a haven for locals and visitors preferring a more subdued dinner destination. Murphy’s is the most popular jock destination on the Island as good numbers of Rugby/Soccer players and NFL fans alike huddle there Thursday-Saturday and with the walking distance convenience of the Forest Beach residents and dozens of near-by white collar workers the happy hour and dinner numbers continue to be steady. Frugal minded locals have got to be loving the all new Two Dollar Bill’s now up and running which features $2 wells, domestics and house vinos all day, 7 days a week.

Tongue in cheek Political conversation, new sushi offerings, the in-shirk-ables going off to war, lots of smiles and a sustained sensation like the plight of the Calverts were noted last month as local working troops strive to deal with this economy. That we’re all in the same boat has its upside. That “Town” Mngr Steve Riley said. "we really need to have a conversation about how we sustain and diversify the tax base" clearly indicates that the “Town” would be plainly and simply broke if not for the Hospitality Industry’s F&B sector. The only conversation F&B owners/GM’s will soon be engaged in is when the little code enforcement officers start making their rounds issueing tickets for “illegal” Christmas decor. voted in and paid for to try and keep this Island from becoming Myrtle Beach II. Meanwhile, Island residents are at the mercy of a local Government that had their chance over a decade ago to keep this little resort destination unique before greed and hubris took its toll. “Vision”?, good luck to us all.

Who’s Doin’/Not
PB Sunrise Cafe has ruled the breakfast hours Island-wide for years now and we see little change throughout the Winter months there as PBSC continues to attract the lion’s share of the breakfast/brunch locals seeking variety and prompt in and out access. Kurama’s long time local sushi loving clientele and table-side Chef entertainment combined with a 20% discount for “locals only” should keep

It’s The Land Bank Stupid!
One small item that came out with little fanfare and no details was the Town’s declaration that the land management ordinance must be rewritten which basically reads..., because the “Town” is broke, the easiest, sure source of income is in developing and selling off the land residents have

Opening the doors of a new bar is pretty gutsey stuff these days with the economic complexion such as it is but that’s the short of it at Park Plaza as long-time F&B pro Al Notte etal are making a go of it there. Nightlife revelers no longer have to worry about the trip back after hard party excursions to the Island as the most recent hub to evolve into a viable destination is in B’Town where the “Promenade” and Old Town combine to offer a walkabout as diverse as anything on the Island. B’Town dark spots of interest will include the Old Town/Promenade walkabout spots such as Cap’n Woody’s, Corks, May River Grill and Pepper’s Porch.

From the Cradle
For the blues/jazz’d confused By John Sippel Bio:

Cootie Williams
1910-1985
Famed trumpeter Charles Melvin ("Cootie") Williams was an integral part of Duke Ellington's orchestra during the 1930s. His extraordinary talent with the plunger mute helped shape the band's sound and propel it to the top. Williams later led a successful band of his own. He also is remembered as co-author of the classic jazz number '''Round Midnight,'' with Thelonius Monk. A native of Mobile, Alabama, Williams began his professional career with the Young Family band, which included saxophonist Lester Young, when he was 14 years old.[1] In 1928, he made his first recordings with pianist James P. Johnson in New York, where he also worked briefly in the bands of Chick Webb and Fletcher Henderson. Williams began performing at an early age, working around his native Mobile, Alabama, with Johnny Pope and Holman's Jazz Band and touring with the Young Family Band before moving to Pensacola, Florida, at age 15, where he joined a group led Calvin Shields. In 1928 he traveled north with the Alonzo Ross DeLuxe Syncopators and settled in New York City. He worked with Arthur Ford, Chick Webb, and Fletcher Henderson before signing with Ellington in 1929, where he replaced the departing Bubber Miley. At first, Cootie's role in the band required him to play the so-called ‘jungle effects’ originally created by Miley, but his rich open horn sound and his

distinctive plunger muted playing quickly became an important part of the palette with which Ellington worked. By the time of his last year with the band, 1940, he was one of the most distinctive musicians amidst a group of highly individualistic players. Throughout his years with Ellington, and on many occasions under his own name, Cootie consistently displayed a vigorous command of his instrument. Whether playing the muted colourful compositions of Ellington, or playing in the full-throated manner that reflected his admiration for Louis Armstrong, the distinctive trumpet playing of Cootie Williams remains one of the lasting joys of jazz. Ellington rewarded the trumpeter with several features, among them “New Concert For Cootie”, “The Shepherd” and “Portrait Of Louis Armstrong”. He remained in the band - visually an apparently doleful presence - until Ellington's death, staying on when the band was briefly led by Mercer Ellington. He died on 15 September 1985, in New York City.

An old cowboy sat down at Starbucks and ordered a cup of coffee. As he sat sipping his coffee, a young woman sat down next to him..She turned to the cowboy and asked, 'Are you a real cowboy?' He replied, 'Well, I've spent my whole life breaking colts, working cows, going to rodeos, fixing fences, pulling calves, bailing hay, cleaning my barn, fixing flats, working on tractors, and feeding my dogs, so I guess I am a cowboy.' She said, 'I'm a lesbian. I spend my whole day thinking about naked women. As soon as I get up in the morning, I think about naked women. When I shower, I think about naked women. When I watch TV, I think about naked women. It seems everything makes me think of naked women.' The two sat sipping in silence. A little while later, a young man sat down on the other side of the old cowboy and asked, 'Are you a real cowboy?' He replied, 'I always thought I was, but I just found out I'm a lesbian.' Aw man!

New “Offender Watch” Program Launches
“Offender Watch” program designed to keep better track of sex offenders in SC
The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) in lead partnership with The Richland County Sheriff’s Dept is pleased to announce the launch of a new, statewide webbased program designed to enhance the tracking and monitoring of registered sex offenders throughout South Carolina. This innovative program called Offender Watch ensures that registered offenders meet law requirements and gives citizens free access to information about such offenders who live in or near their neighborhoods. Offender Watch searches registered sex offenders listed in state and county-wide databases. It allows law enforcement to share, streamline and enforce the sexual predator registration and monitoring process. These steps will better protect children across the state. Director Reggie Lloyd says, “This new tool will help parents tremendously. The new program brings up a map showing color photographs. For More info: www.watchsystems.com/
