Nov- The Berkman Center for Internet & Society at Harvard Law School and the Research Center
2007: for Information Law at the University of St. Gallen have released a new white paper in their
series "Breaking Down Digital Barriers". "Digital identity interoperability and eInnovation"
Their white paper discusses Shibboleth, as an example of the current state of Digital ID
Interoperability. The paper can be downloaded from http://cyber.law.harvard.edu/interop/.
7- Today, for the first time, the Internet2 community demonstrated the interoperability of its
Dec- Shibboleth federated identity management software with the National Science Foundation's

In about two weeks, we'll provide a link to an archived video of the demonstration.
29- Shibboleth as an Intra-campus Web SSO, and with SOA
Nov- At a recent Educause live broadcast, UCSD talked about "Planning and Delivering Service-
2006: Oriented Architecture". In this talk, they described how they are using Shibboleth as their
deployed intra-campus Web SSO mechanism, why it's good to have a Web SSO, and noted
the value of having Shibboleth support attributes. UCSD has a web portal/front-end that uses
Shibboleth for SSO, and accesses backends via an SOA framework and its security
mechanisms (authenticating as the user, using the identity obtained via Shibboleth
attributes). This is an interesting example of a working approach to hooking these
middleware components together; it is significant in showing that using WS-Security does
NOT imply reinventing a campus infrastructure, or using WS-Federation.

More info about the talk, and an archive of the audio, can be found at:
