Statements
1.Report the following statements using reporting verbs in the past.
My daughter informed me that will be a meeting at school today./ They regretted

tonight./ The customer declared that he found everything he needed here./ He

2.Report the following statements:

4.Report the followingusing reporting verbs in the past:
Peter:I was very frightened this morning.I went over to Dans place to borrow his
cassette-recorder.He was out and as i turned to go his dog wouldnt let me out.I
was lucky his mother heard him growling and came to my rescue. In the afternoon
Peters sister Mary tells her friend Ann what happened to her brother in the
morning.Mrs Brown to Mrs Green :There was a fire in my street last night.Its a
wonder my house didnt catch fire.Fortunately the firemen arrived in time and
nobody was injured.
(Mrs Green passes thr information over to Mrs White two days later)Cathy to
George:The Dance Ensemble is leaving for theUSA tomorrow.They will give
performances in several big cities in the States.Im sure theyll be highly succesful.
(George reports Cathys words to his mother an hour later)
Mr Barton to his neighbour:Life in these new blocks of flats is very exciting.My
little boy got lost a few days ago.When coming back from school he twice got into
the wrong flat.
(Mr Bartons neighbour reports Mr Bartons words to his wife the next day).
5.Report the following statements:
The boys said to us:We have been playing football the whole afternoon She
answered:Im reading a novel. I repeated:I live in Paris The young girl said to
her mother:I have often played tennis with Dana . The boy said to his friend :I
shall bring you the book tomorrow. The children repeated:We didnt play in the
garden. He said:Nobody came to see me at the hospital The old man shouted
angrily: I have been waiting too long. My cousin said: Our friends will have
been travelling a lot by the end of this month. They said to us:Your friends came
to see us in January.
