(AUSN). Youth Looking Beyond Disaster (LBD) and LBD5 is also
pleased to be associated with Youth Beyond Disasters, working for
Youth Mobilisation towards the Third World Conference for Disaster
Risk Reduction, Sendai 2015. At LBD5 there will be experts, young
professionals and youth, with a global geographical focus. Presenters
will include leading global experts, as well as some previous
LBD participants presenting the implementation of their action
plans. Many new participants with experiences from rebuilding
communities will join the LBD network from various communities
around the world. A working group will form to collaborate in the
further development of policy recommendations, and in particular
building upon the Christchurch (LBD1) and Sendai 2 (LBD2)
communiqus, and similar youth statements on disaster, as input
for the 2014 United Nations Conference on Disaster Risk Reduction
Frameworks at the Hyogo, Japan meeting. The conference will bring
together experts from diferent felds of disaster management and
young professionals who are working to rebuild communities from
disasters. We seek participants who are highly motivated to dialogue
with others from around the world, and from diferent disciplines, to
review their pastactions, and design together new action plans to
assist in all aspects of disaster mitigation and recovery.
Looking Beyond Disaster
Youth Forum ( LBD )
:

December 9th 12th 2011 Beginning to look beyond disaster:
Delegates of the First UNESCO Youth Forum: Looking Beyond Disaster
demonstrated the impact of youth initiative in disaster recovery. The
Forum was held in Christchurch, New Zaeland, whose Student Volunteer
Army demonstrated this potential with a 9,000-strong youth group,
established following a sequence of earthquakes that began in 2010. The
aim of the Forum was to create a platform for young people to interact,
share experience of disasters, contribute to workshops, and develop
disaster-related action plans based on the most pressing issues for them.
Over 100 people travelled from 25 countries across the Asia-Pacifc region
and participated by sharing their experiences and ideas.
