WINDY CITY WASH AND WAX
HOLY DUST & SAND! Who knew it could do so much damage to your
vehicle? No matter what type of vehicle you own, it's a big investment and you
want to take proper care of it. Former Chicagoan Nick Visvardis, owner of
WINDY CITY WASH AND WAX is the man with the answer to the problem.
Located at 4790 Polaris Avenue, Windy City Wash and Wax is a 7000 square foot
indoor, full service, strictly by hand spa for your car, truck or SUV.
That's right...we said spa! When speaking with Nick, about automobiles you
instantly see the passion in his eyes and his smile. "We are not just a car wash.
My many years in the highline and exotic vehicle business insure that your
vehicle is in good hands. We are the Only REAL Hand Car Wash in Las Ve-
gas!" he said. We asked Nick about water, he told us, "we DO NOT recycle our
water!" Our water is treated through 3 steps prior to re-entering-
Clark County's system. Clark County inspectors approved the drains we
installed, our fltration system and interceptor with fying colors." Nick laughed,
"If anything, we over did it just to insure we did our part in keeping the water
in Las Vegas as clean as possible." When you pull your car into the
lot you are greeted by either Nick himself or a Manager, escorted into an
amazing waiting room, where Nick pays homage to Chicago. Completely
decorated in black & silver chrome, photo's of Chicago on the wall,
comfortable black leather chairs and couch, 50" LED television, free wi-f,
water, phone plug in and a full view of all that is happening inside the wash
area. And did we mention air conditioned and heated for your comfort? While
you sit back your vehicle is being rinsed in potassium chloride softened water
and washed using the only "foam cannon" in all of Las Vegas. This produces the
perfect mixture of soap and water to create thick foam and ensures good
coverage on the entire vehicle. Your vehicle will be dried with rubber tipped
air hoses and microfber towels to begin getting excess water from the mirrors,
make/model badging, grill, trim,
wiper blades, headlights, tail-
lights, and anywhere else where
water likes to hide. You've got to
experience Windy City Wash and
Wax to believe it! Drive in today
and let them knw you found them
with Chicagoans In The Desert.

Our community recently lost Joey Peronne. If you
have ever been to a party at Brando's you would
have met Joey. Brando's owners Nick, Anthony,
and Rocky grew up with Joey and his cousin Tony
Gelfo back in Chicago in the 70's near Irving Park
& Kostner. They all ended up here in the desert.
Joey worked for Nico and Dominick Santucci
at CAPO'S Restaurant & Speakeasy located at
5675 W. Sahara. From my own experience, Joey
was as "old school" Italian as they come. Our
condolences to all three families.
BRANDO'S ADDS DEEP DISH PIZZA
Last year, Nick Brandonisio began his quest to learn the art of mak-
ing Chicago style deep dish pizza. The "regulars" at Brando's were
with him all the way as they endured many taste testings, making slight
adjustments each time. Recently, they gave Nick the "thumbs up". With
the addition of Fontinini Sausage, Brando's added deep dish pizza to
their menu. Brando's also welcomes
the addition of Jinny as bartender.
She has done a terrifc job quickly
learning our food and our sports.
FAMILY LAW CORNER with MICHELE L. ROBERTS, ESQ
Child custody is always a diffcult issue to sort out. But with a high number of couples
having children out of wedlock combined with the transitory nature of Las Vegas, theres an added degree of
complexity for parents in the valley. Roughly 40 percent of U.S. births are to unwed mothers. Even
though a rising number of those births 25 percent of all births, about double what the number was 10
years ago are to cohabitating couples who planned on having a child together, thats no guarantee that
things will work out long-term. Weve seen cases where one parent will simply move out of state with the
child, without frst informing the other parent. And in a state where only 25 percent of Nevada residents
were born here, that risk is very real for Nevadans. For an unmarried parent, even if you have a
theoretical right to custody, you might fnd it next to impossible to reunite with your child unless you
have a writtencourt order. If youre an unmarried parent in Las Vegas, its really never too early to
have custody established in court, even if youre currently on good terms with the other parent.
Its important to establish both kinds of custody: physical custody, which determines which parent
the child will live with, and legal custody, which is the right to make major decisions such as the childs
religion, health care and education. Nevada law presumes that parents have joint legal custody, and
generally in order for either parent to obtain sole legal custody, the parent really needs to show that the
other parent is unft. However, I have had cases where even if one parent is incarcerated, that parent was
still entitled to joint legal custody. Regarding physical custody, courts will look for the best interest of the
child when determining custody, so its not a foregone conclusion that the law will side with the mother,
and joint physical custody is always a possibility or even primary physical custody to the father.
Of course, parents are also free to work out a mutually benefcial solution between themselves;
however, you should still put the agreement in writing to avoid future litigation. You still might
want to discuss your agreement with a lawyer to see how best to make it legally binding. Parents can also
use mediation to formulate a parenting agreement. Parents need to focus on what is in the childrens
best interests, rather than seeking a certain custody arrangement out of spite, revenge, for the sole purpose
of obtaining child support or for the sole purpose of avoiding child support. Establishing custody early
on doesnt just protect your rights; it also ensures that yourchild will grow up in a stable, caring
environment. You can get more information at UNLV, which has free classes that explain general
custody issues where you can getmore information (however, it should be noted that the classes are
taught by lawstudents, and as such, they are for informational purposes only, not legal
advice), or consult a lawyer to see how best to establish your custody rights through the legal system.
