ATHLETICS MANAGER BOB MELVIN:

Oaklands hitting against Felix Hernandez

I thought our at bats for most of the game were really goodwe were really hitting his tough luck early on.. had about four
or five line drive outs, which get really frustrating when youre going through a period like this. Especially when youre
getting decent at bats off a guy that has been pretty tough on us. We battled through and got some good enough at bats
to put us in position where we have the bases loaded off Rodney and we got a run.

Against Felix continued

There have been so many times that weve gotten behind him, and hes get ahead of us. And no all of a sudden hes in plus
counts and I think we had some better swings in early counts off of himdidnt really get much to show for it but we hit
some balls hard which increases the confidence that you have swinging the bat. Certainly in the last inning, our patience
paid off.
