Double tee to beam connection

The connection creates fastening plates on the beam(s), neoprene pads glued to the ribs of
double tee beam, and the steel plate that is welded to fastening plates during erection of the
building. The connection also creates round holes through the double tee beam ribs.

There is only one sided connection available. When two double tee beams are on the same
concrete beam, the one sided connection shall be applied to both of them.
1. Purpose and description
The connection is designed to work with standard double tee beam (parametric TT profile),
precast element manufacturer Parma parametric TEKSLAB profile and precast element
manufacturer Luja parametric SUPERTT profile.
2. Usage
The connection can be created from Component catalog. The connection name is Double
tee beam connection.

After starting the connection:
1. Select the beam part under the rib.
2. Select the double tee beam.
3. If the other rib is on top of different beam, you can select that as third input part.

Property Description
Beam End Fitting Normally the double tee beams end has a straight
angle compared to the beam axis and there is no
need to create the fitting.
Usually the double tee beams are sloped and
sometimes the beam end is wanted to be vertical.
The fitting can be used in that case
Neoprene pad Commonly the neoprene pad between the
concrete beam and double tee beam rib is made
of constant thickness plate.
Some manufacturers use a wedge shape
neoprene pad that has the same slope as the
double tee beam. For example a 2,5 % slope can
be handled with a pad that is 180 mm long, 90
mm wide and the thickness is 10 mm in the
beginning and 15 mm in the end.

Note: The vertical location of the bolt hole is depending on the manufacturer and also
affected how the strands are located on the bottom of the rib. Contact the double tee beam
manufacturer to decide the exact location of the bolt hole!
3.2. Parts
The Class attribute of the neoprene pad and erection plate are used only if the Class on the
General tab is set into -1.
3.3. Holes
The bolt size is given by the double tee beam manufacturer. Also confirm the slotted hole
dimensions and the bolt objects hole tolerance the manufacturer.
4. Additional information
Before using this connection, make sure that you have imported the necessary fastening
plate custom components in your model.

Usually the rib bottom is straight even when the double tee beams are sloped. If the building
is under significant dynamic vibrating load due to machinery inside, the neoprene pads
should have constant thickness and be horizontally positioned. For that you need to do the
cuts in the bottom of the double tee beam yourself. However, the connection recognizes the
cuts and positions the neoprene pads correctly also in this case.
