5th Edition, Autumn 2009
Ciao! Another season has drawn in and even though we still have sunny spells and humid days in the beautiful city of Rome, the changing colour of the leaves remind us that Autumn is in and it is time for us to share some news with you. In the first week of August we were privileged to welcome the ICPE seminarians Tony and Francis who arrived in Rome to start studying Italian in preparation for the theological studies at the Urbaniana Pontifical University. They are now both diligently following courses in their first semester and fully engaged in seminary life.
Thank God for birthdays even when we turn a double 5 as Mario did on September the 3rd! For this occasion, Tony and Francis wanted to bless Mario with an authentic Indian meal. So we planned a community day around the celebration of Mario’s birthday. We had lots of fun preparing and cooking and finally enjoying the spicy, sumptuous meal… finger‐licking good… literally! Indeed we appreciated the gift of one another and the quality time together.
Hi! I’m Claire
In September, Claire from Texas joined our household. Claire is a consecrated single and a student at the Angelicum University who had been trying to secure housing in Rome when we got in touch with her. Although Claire is not called to be an active missionary, she feels that she has a great opportunity to intercede for the community and the ICPE Mission worldwide. Claire is also a great inspiration for our household and we feel tremendously blessed to share life with her. Late September, Angie returned from Malaysia after having been away due to her mother’s sickness and eventual passing away. Once Angie returned to
August also brought a closure for Catherine who had so generously served us for the past year at the International Office. We thank Catherine for her contribution and service to the Mission through the ICPE Roma community and wish her God’s blessings during this present chapter in her life in Singapore.

Rome it was ‘all systems go’ preparing for the Council meetings which our little Aroma community was privileged to host this year. Two days after Angie’s arrival, it was time to pack again and to vacate the house so that the ICPE Council members could stay comfortably in our home. So once packed, we moved to the International Office building to live there until the Council meetings were over. Rejoice and again we say Rejoice! The 3rd of October was truly a special moment in our community as we joined the Council members in a spirit of thanksgiving to celebrate Alliston’s ordination to the deaconate.
Soon after her arrival in Rome, Grace’s talent as a great cook was easily noticed by the SSND sisters who own the two houses where we live. Recently, she was offered a part‐time job to cook a couple of meals a week for them. Grace’s dishes are fast becoming favourites among the sisters and in return, she’s receiving a stipend which serves as a contribution towards the running expenses of the household. In the midst of all this, Mario continues to travel extensively, networking and keeping busy with different meetings here in Rome. It is a privilege however that on his regular trips to Ghana, he gets to visit our brother Alliston in Cape Coast. Anna continues to juggle her time with coordinating the work at the International Office and her other responsibilities. As you can see, there is never a dull moment in our community. Blessed and privileged are we with the gift of one another as we continue to serve the Lord and the GOGICC through the International Office – Keep us in prayer!

Mission Sunday was a time of reflection and renewal of our covenant. We had the opportunity to have a retreat at the Benedictine Convent very close to where we live. The retreat reached its climax as we knelt in front the Blessed Sacrament to renew our commitment to love and serve one another and to thank the Lord for His faithfulness and for the GOGICC sisters and brothers worldwide.
