Preface
For designing a grinding plant with MPS roller mill grindability tests have been done.
In these grindability tests the product rate, the specific power consumption, the power
absorption depending on material properties and the specific wear rate of the MPS test
mill are determined.
The material samples and their percentage delivered by the client are considered to be
representative for the project. So the determined figures in this test are the basis for the
design and guaranteed values of a grinding plant delivered by Gebr. Pfeiffer AG.
Grindability test
For conducting a grindability test with cement raw material two mixing components were
made available to us. Bauxite as third component was not delivered. Hence the raw mix could
be prepared from limestone and iron ore only.
The properties of the individual material components are referred to on page 5 - 6.
The material was pre-crushed to a grain size of less than 8 mm.
The grindability tests were carried out with a grinding plant using a vertical roller mill type
MPS 32 (diameter of grinding table 320 mm). The test mill was fitted with a high effi-
ciency classifier type SLS 220.
The wear parts of grinding plate and rollers were made of Ni-Hard IV.
The process flow sheet of this grinding plant can be found on page 7.
Resume of the test results
Throughput rate: 1080 kg/h
Specific power consumption: 5.5 kWh/t
Power absorption: 5.9 kW
Grinding fineness residue on 0.212 mm: 1.0 %
Specific wear rate (Ni-Hard IV): 28.4 g/t
For details please see attached data sheets (page 3 - 4).
