Golden Key

International Honour
Society is the worlds
premier academic honor
society with chapters at
nearly 350 colleges and
universities in Australia,
Canada, Malaysia, New
Zealand, South Africa, the
United Arab Emirates and the United States. We
invite upper-level university and college
students in all fields of study who are in the top
15% of their class to become members.
Through the Society, we provide them with
pathways to careers, personal development,
networking, leadership and service. Since
1977, the Society has recognized the scholastic
achievements of more than 1.6 million
members and has awarded over $5 million in
scholarships to our members. As current and
future leaders in all walks of life across the
globe, our members (student, alumni and
honorary) are a testament to the purpose and
values of Golden Key.
Always remaining mission focused, values
based and demographics driven, Golden Key
has adopted an enhanced mission: To enable
members to realize their potential by
connecting individual achievement with
service and lifelong opportunity. The Society
is forward looking to new successes and
increased membership while remaining
committed and connected to its alumni
members.
In 2005, there were many successes for
the Society, including new partnerships with
several companies that included Owens
Corning, Scotiabank and Motorola Malaysia. As
career benefits are a key focus for our
members, partnerships such as these are
essential for providing internship and job
opportunities with high-profile corporations
that value our high-achieving members.
Service was also at the forefront in 2005,
particularly in response to the Southeast Asia
Tsunami disaster and the devastation of
Hurricane Katrina. Through individual
donations as well as member and chapter
activities, thousands of dollars were raised for
the relief efforts. The focus on education-
based service initiatives was also strong as
chapters worldwide dedicated themselves to
programs in this arena, such as tutoring school
children, book drives and international
learning through nonprofit partners such as
the International Scholar Laureate Program
and Better World Books. It is through
education that we aspire to positively impact
our world.
All of the benefits and services of the
Society come together to form what we call
the Golden Key Advantage. We not only
recognize the academic achievements of our
members, but also translate their hard work
into opportunity. By aligning with top
companies for recruitment opportunities,
providing networking events, scholarships and
more, Golden Key members have the added
edge needed to excel above their peers.
The success of Golden Key is based on its
focus on mission and values, diversity of
membership, global perspective, strength in
numbers, and commitment and ability to
deliver tangible value to members. I would
like to take this time to thank those who make
the Golden Key experience possible: our
membership, our university partners, our
honorary members, our corporate and
nonprofit partners, our elected volunteer
leaders, our chapter advisors and executives,
our Board of Directors and our staff. We are a
global community of achievers. I am honored
to serve as the steward of this great Society.
We are thrilled to have renowned
executive coach Marshall Goldsmith as the
2006 CONCEPTS cover person. As a beacon of
motivation and success, Marshall is committed
to the achievement of Golden Key members
through his learning lessons and experiences.
Marshall embodies the values of the Society,
and we thank him for his continual
contribution to the success of its members. We
hope you enjoy reading this years issue.
