Chapter 6- Answers

It has been almost two weeks since the passing of Billy’s sudden death. I
have finally let out my secret to my family that I was pregnant with Jacob’s
child. Although everything was getting back to normal, I still had something to
add to my list of complaints. That question was, whether I would get killed
through the process of carrying a child? I sure didn’t know, Carlisle nor Edward
knew either. But every time I felt safe in my mind, I knew something unexpected
will definitely, no doubt, happen.

I was lying on the bed going through the past when Jacob abruptly came
bustling through the threshold. His face was filled with concern, yet amazement.
“ Come on Ness. Carlisle just called and said we need to get over there as soon as
possible.” I took his word, threw my feet over the edge of the bed and scrambled
to get my shoes on. Since being pregnant is a wonderful, joyous thing, there
comes one huge consequence, a huge abdomen. I was what, two- three weeks along
and already this huge? After I got my shoes on I took Jacob’s hand and we rushed
out to the car. I got buckled in, and turned down the music. I actually had the
bravery to ask Jacob, “ What did Carlisle say?” Jacob turned his upper torso in
my direction. “ He didn’t say. Just to be over there quickly.” I fumbled with my
fingers.
“ Do you think its good news, or just something unimportant?”
“ I really don’t know, but he wouldn’t rush us over there if It wasn’t important.”
Jacob had a point. I let the subject drop. Turning my head to the window I
realized we were wounding up the long drive to the house. It has been almost one
week since I last saw my family. Not that I didn’t want to see them, just that we
had other things to do. Jacob stopped the engine and came over to open the
passenger door. Worried I would fall and break, or loose something, I
surprisingly made it out alive. With the help of my wonderful husband.
The front door flew open. Edward and Bella came running out. I was instantly in
my mothers arms.
“ Oh Ness, we’ve missed you so much!” Bella was whimpering tearlessly.
“ Oh mom I’ve missed you to. What’s wrong?” All the excitement passed.
Bella looked at me with an eerie expression. She started to caress my back.
Edward started to lighten up.
“ Nothing’s wrong, it’s right. Honey, your going to be alright through your
pregnancy. Nothing will happen. We can all enjoy the miracle now.” Edward was the
one who answered. As I took that into consideration, I believed him. I was going
to be ok, and live preferably, for eternity. I dropped the sternness and let my
tear ducks take over. Propping my head on Bella’s shoulder I saw that the whole
family came out to embrace the moment. We all gathered in a group hug, with all
the faces turning from worried to simply joyous. I decided something was needed
to be said.
“ So, what’s the next chapter of our lives before a new comes into ours?” They
all turned to my words. Alice. Alice, sweet little Alice was going to do
something big from my understanding.
“ Well, we could always throw a baby shower. Or, we could work on the nursery, or
go shopping. Either of those will be fine. Bu Ness, what are you and Jacob going
to name the baby?” That was one thing I didn’t add to my list. How could I
forget the most important thing of all?
“ We haven’t talked about names yet because we don’t know the sex of the baby.
Any of those things will be perfect for what were going to encounter.” Jacob was
the one who answered Alice’s question. Carlisle was standing on the outside of
the embrace with Edward at his side talking.
“ Carlisle, do you think you could find out, or is it to early to know?” My
breathing was going ragged. He turned his torso in my direction.
“ It wouldn’t hurt to try. We could do it now if you’d like?” This could be the
start of something new, just from looking at a machine. “ I think I will take you
up on that offer.” I was teasing.
“ Is that all we’ll know? Just the sex of the baby?” Jacob was definitely new to
this kind of thing.
“ Yes, but you can do a lot of things just from learning these things.” Trying
to defend my case.
Jacob seemed to consider the facts I presented him with.
“ OK then, looks like we have some planning to do. Can we go see now?” I could
tell he was just excited to become a parent as I was.
“ Let’s go then. Follow me please.” Carlisle courteously said. Jacob took
my hand in his, to what seem to resemble the bond between a long-lasting marriage.
Everyone filed in behind us.
Taking the steps to the third level of the house, turning to the second door on
the left. Carlisle was already getting what seemed to be the operating table in
the middle of the room, and turning on the machines. I stood frozen, only locking
my eyes on the table. Everyone gaped at my awkward position. “ Nothing going to
happen. No needles, shots, anything with a poke.” Carlisle was trying to soothe
me.
“ You promise?”
“ I promise.” I could tell he was telling me the truth. Jacob tolled me over to
the table, and helping me on to it. I laid on the crackling paper. Staring up at
the ceiling. I tried to concentrate on the design of the room, memorizing it over
and over. I knew how these things went, but not from experience, but from movies,
TV shows, and everything in between. So I did as procedure called for.
This right now, was going to change my life drastically. I could finally
have a family of my own with the person I absolutely adored and most of all,
loved. We would take this life-lesson seriously and protect this human being that
I conceived. I could picture myself seeing a black-haired child running towards
Jacob and I saying, “ momma, daddy.” , over and over in my mind.
Tears started to stroll there way down my flushed cheeks. Jacobs thumb wiped them
clear. Carlisle started the procedure. I winced at the coldness of the gel, then
relaxed at the movement across my torso. This was the moment. I would know what
I was carrying. This was an absolute miracle. Carlisle cleared his throat, as to
a doctor would do in his case. He looked at the monitor once more, then turned
his body towards me.
“ Well, as my granddaughter, I congratulate you and Jacob. As my doctor position
I would like to announce that you are having, what looks like to me is……..”
Carlisle did that for dramatic affect. Here it is, was going through my mind over
and over, and I could tell by Jacobs face it was in his mind as well.
“ Renesmee, Jacob. Nothing’s sticking out.” Carlisle was making us guess now
was he? Edward and Bella gasped in reaction to the screen. All eyes gazed down
in affection to what was lying on that monitor. Carlisle had said nothing was
sticking out. What could that possibly mean??
I got it.
“ It’s a girl. Were having a girl Jacob!!” I figured it out. He looked at me
as if we had something more precious in there. In our case we absolutely did.
“ We are? Oh, my! I can’t believe this!” Jacob was crowing.
“ Looks like there will be at least another fashion trendsetter in the family.”
Alice was beaming.
“ I don’t know about that Alice? What if she turns out to be a tom-boy or
something? What if she’ll like playing with the guys better than being a guinea
pig Barbie?” I was not fussing at her, just stating what could be the truth.
“ Ok, ok, ok. But we all know she will be loved eternally. This is the start of
a new generation.” Alice had made a point. All the things my life has put me
through, I will not put mine and Jacobs daughter through the same misery; but only
from one thing I couldn‘t be absolutely positive about : The Volturri.
I can’t believe this was happening to me. I was going to be a mom, just like my
mom; but hopefully not in the position of heading to your grave. Esmee was just
as flabbergasted as the whole room. Esmee, sweet little Esmee, never got to
experience motherhood as long as my mother had or myself; acting on the last
minute I decided I would let her take as much part in being part of the baby’s
life as much as she wants. I wondered if the pack knew? I would have to go tell
them right away. Carlisle was wiping the gel off of my stomach. After he was
done I sat up and stared at Jacob.
“ Can we go tell the pack?” I asked so innocently. Jacob was thinking the same
thing.
“ Of course. Let’s go.” He held out his hand and I took it.

While going out the door, every immortal was congratulating Jacob ad I on
the new life were about to present to this big, big, in our case, fairy-tale
façade of world.

As we got in the car, both of us were glowing. Jacob took my hand and was
getting ready to say something, “ What do you think she’ll look like? What will
she be? I just can’t help thinking what I’ll do once I lay my eyes on her? Oh,
yeah what are we going to name her?” Jacob had plenty of more questions but all
of them I could not answer, but the naming question we could answer together. “ I
don’t know Jacob. But we do need to think of names. Do you have any
suggestions?”
We were almost to Sam’s by that time. Jacob was so pumped up. This was all
about bringing another generation of Black’s. Hand-and-hand, Jacob and I started
up to the fixer-upper house of the alpha.
Chapter 7 - Black

As we got out of the car, Sam and the whole pack came bustling out of the
too-tiny of a house for four large men. Sam found me first and gave me a hug.
Quil and Embry were whooing and slapping Jacob dainty high-fives. I could tell we
were going to be just the big family I have always pictured. Emily came out last,
with an unsuspected grin.
“ Congratulations Nessie! Wow! A baby girl. Hey, Jake? Are you going to
be that over-bearingly protective father that most fathers are? I can’t wait!”
Sam was so joyful to be finding out he was going to become an uncle. Jacob was
thinking hard at what Sam had said.
“ I think I will Sam. If she turns out to be as gorgous as her mother I
will defiantly, no doubt, act like that. Depending on how the guys follow her
when she gets older.” I was flushed at what he said. I never thought of myself
to be pretty. But to Jacob’s eyes, I was much more than pretty. Back to the
baby now.
“ Oh Jake, stop it.” I complained to him. He gaped at my reaction.
“ What Nessie? Face the facts. You’ve never been merely pretty, just gorgous.”
Jacob was the man to run to when you wanted to be showered in compliments. I
decided to change the subject.
“ So guys? I was wondering if how you guys felt about being in the room
while the baby was born? I was thinking that is was a once in a life-time chance,
so if you guys are up for, ok, but if you don’t want to I understand.” I was
giving them the freedom to witness a miracle coming int the world.
They all gaped the moment the words slurred out of my mouth. I was not
questioning the statement, but requesting it. All of them, except Sam, was all
looking like the vomiting type, I never thought that’s who they’d be.
“ I don’t know about the guys Renesmee, but I’m up to it. Hey, how long did you
say you were?” Scarred Emily, was the one to answer my request. Emily was a
women so she would know it would be something gifted, not something to vomit over.
Geesh, no wonder guys are wimps.
“ Great. Now what about you guys? I don’t know exactly Emily, but I know I
could be due any time at the rate the baby is growing. Why you ask? Something
up?” Emily was hiding something, something big for the most part. She looked as
delighted, as if she just saw Robert Pattinson walk by shirtless. I knew what was
going on. Emily looked at us all in disbelief herself. I gaped soon after I had
figured it out and gasped in reaction. They turned at th sound of my gasp.
“ OH!! Are you serious? How, what when?” I grabbed her up in a hug.
Tears streaming down both our faces. Sam finally got it to and so on, and so on.
Wow, how many more women were going to have babies? Was this the the next
generation of werewolves in the unknown world they’ve known for many years? Right
at the second I let go of Emily, a jolt went through my body.
All of a sudden, I went limp. Jacob’s piercing snarl and Emily’s frantic
shrieks were all to much. Feeling the warmth of the hands that touched me, I
actually thought I was in hell. What had I done to end up there? Nothing seemed
right to me. Something was happening to the baby. I was going to die or the baby
was going to die, either way we were in moral danger. Jacob as chanting my name
constantly, cradling my lifeless body in his muscled arms. My heart was slowing
by the second. Rain started drizzling from the dark, grey, sky above. I heard
the sounds of clicking and tires screeching against the pavement.

“ What happened? How long has she been like this? Renesmee, can you hear me?”
Carlisles voice was fading. I could still move, but only slightly.
“ Renesmee, honey, it’s me Bella.” Bella knew I called her Bella behind her back.
I twisted my neck to see who was crowded by me. In the inner circle was Jacob,
Bella, Edward, Carlisle, Sam, and Alice. The rest was guarding. Guarding what?
Chapter 8 - Bed - Riddance

Everything was out of the ordinary. After my little episode, I found myself
in a hospital bed. Really, I was at Carlisle’s. Life slipped out of me right
before my eyes, only to find out I lived.
Jacob was squeezing my hand. My slits opened just a peep, to get a look at
who was with me. I sensed several people were around me, but who? I opened my
eyes. I was hooked up to so many monitors, I lost count. Needles were pinned in
every inch of my body. What I saw next, was nothing anyone, I don’t care who they
were, would even want to see. I gasped in reaction. My bloated torso was gone,
but covered in black and blue splotches all around. I started to go in a panic
attack. I squeezed Jacob’s hand just as hard. He started to protest.
“ Nessie, Are you ok? What’s wrong, tell me Nessie, I need to know!” He was
going on the outs. All of everyone filed in after one another, Carlisle was
first.
“ Nessie, are you in pain?” His voice was soothing. My voice was being held
off, but I managed.
“ Carlisle, where’s the baby? Is she alright? Am I dead?” That caught a
reaction. And I meen from everyone. The pack was there, how odd. Edward looked
at me funny and turned to tell me either good or bad new, nor neither? He took my
hand in a comforting way.
“ Renesmee,” Edward started saying- “ The baby is just fine. Carlisle had
to do an emergency C-section. Your little attack was was just telling us that it
was time for the baby to be delivered. Meaning that your mother and I are now
Grandparent’s. Your making me feel old.” He exclaimed.
My baby was safe. I lived, the baby lived. I could now start a family with
Jacob. I wondered at that point if Jacob has even seen our daughter?
“ What does she look like? Who does she look like? Jacob have you even seen
her?” Jacob’s face lightened.
“ Yes, Ness. I’ve seen her. She gorgeous. Just like her mom. Honey, I’m so
sorry you didn’t actually get to see her being born, but it was a miracle.
Renesmee, you gave me something else in my life that is my life now, just like you
came into mine, but, we made her Ness, she’s ours.” Tears started to stream down
his russet-colored cheek, looking as if they were heavier, they were to stain.
I couldn’t help but to feel moved at his speech. It was true. I gave him
something else in his life to care for besides myself, knowing she’s ours.
“ Well, can I see her?” I was getting nervous. They turned to the direction of
the doorway. I turned also.
Standing in the threshold was Esme, with her seeming to be holding a pile of
blankets. A movement coming from the blankets was what caught my eye. Esme
started to my bedside. On her way, she manged to unravel the top of the blanket.
At the top apperead a bush full of tiny, curly raven-black head of hair. When the
head turned I saw it for the first time. The baby girl was a replica of Jacob,
only to have the penetration of my impetreable, pale skin. I couldn’t take my
eyes off. Jacob reached out to the baby form that was wriggling in Esme’s arms,
to hand her off to me. After Jacob got her, he stared at her in awe. A minute or
two passed and Jacob handed the baby off to me. Once I touched this baby, my
world turned a three-sixty. My memories flashed into the child’s head, keeping
her occupied. A moment of bonding for both I and my daughter. We were the main
attraction. While I was showing her who I was and how much I already loved her, I
asked Jacob something.
“ What should we name her?” Jacob was thinking the same.
“ I saved that part for you. What do you have in mind? Does anyone have a
suggestion?” I turned my head staright forward to see hands being raised. The
first hand caught my eye. Jacob‘s.
“ Yes, Jacob?” Innocently he thought it over once more.. Taking in the picture
of our bonding.
I saw Edward nod in agreement, saying he knew I would like it. Let’s see.
“ I was thinking, what if we named her after someone in the family, you know
another generation. We can either bond two names together, like yours, or name
her directly after someone,” Jaocb wasn’t done.
“Carlie.” Jacob was staring at her, and when he said the name Carlie, she knew we
meant her. I liked it.
“ Carlie Isabella Black,” I announced proudly. Crying was a major thing on my
list these days. Bella sobbed tearlessly. As did everyone in unison. I was a
mom, Jacob a dad. Who knew if she would grow at the same rate I did? Would she
morf into a werewolf like her father? What her diet consist of? Who knew?
Carlie fell asleep in my arms, as the mermories faded. While everbody embraced in
our reunion, I looked around the room at all their faces. Different from pale-
white, ice cold skin, to russet brown one-oh-eight degree skin. When my eyes
looked in the cornor, I saw Seth hiding. What was he doing? I studied his
face for a while and then it hit me out of the blue. I gasped at my discovery.
They heard that. Jacob knew too. Our daughter had been imprinted on. By Seth
Clearwater. What was going on with these werewolf’s?
“ Jacob how? How can this happen?” I was crying at my words. Jacob’s hand
tightened around mine. His face looked apolegetic.
“ I really don’t know. Seth, I understand were you are coming from. I will not
keep you away from Carlie. I know you will take good care of her when she gets
older. I trust you Seth.” Seth looked appaled at Jacob’s speech. Seth
sluggishly walked toward the bed were I lay with Carlie cradled in my arms. I
knew what he wanted to do. With no holding back, I handed her off to Seth.
Jacob growled at my action. I slapped his arm. Knowing the same thing happened
to me, I knew it was hard for Edward to give up his little girl. Eitheir way or
another, Carlie would grow up to be a magnificent woman.
“ Seth if you want, you can take Carlie and bond. I would like to talk to the
rest of my family in private.” They all look astonished. Seth was wordless.
“ Thanks, Ness. Come on Carlie.” Seth took her off outside after we each gave
her a kiss on the cheek or forehead. It was my turn to talk now.
“ I just wanted to thank you all, for so much of what you have done. If it
wasn’t for all of you, I wouldn’t be here. But, I would like to tell you all
that Jacob and I are moving. Not to get away, but to just experience the
atmosphere. Start our lives off as a family. Christmas is coming soon and so is
Thanksgiving, so we will be here those holidays. If all doesn’t go well, we will
move back. I love you guys to much for anything to interfere with all the things
that we have to hide from the world we live in. I will always and forever love
you all no matter what happens. I have no idea how Seth will take this, being
away from Carlie, but he will understand. “ Edward and Bella especially gaped at
the flood-gates that opened.
“ Nessie, you can’t just take yourself and Carlie and Jacob away from me, from
us. We all love you, you can’t just do this!” My mother was not going to let me
walk out of here. Edward grabbed her arm to reason with her.
“ Renesmee, we understand were your coming from, but, you just had a baby, our
grandchild. Why do you want to move away from your family? We can help you.”
Were was he going with this?
“ Dad, I would like to start living by myself with my daughter and husband. I
promise we will visit. I will not keep you away from us. “ I rested my case.
After my last word was said, I drifted off into a deep and dreamless sleep.

It has been one week since I have given birth to Carlie. Today was the day
that we would be moving away from our family. Nothing was the same since that
night I told them. Everyone spaced out from our lives and theirs. Edward and
Bella couldn’t stand to be away fromCarlie any second of the day. Seth couldn’t
either. When the clock tolled at exactly five-oh-clock that evening, we hauled up
to move distant. With the help of everyone, especially Emmett, we got everything
together in under an hour. No one bothered to speak a word. As I put Carlie in
her carseat, Bella cam over to “talk” privately with me. She embraced me in a
last good-bye hug.
“ I never thought this day would come. Your all grown up. Married, a mom,
moving away. Life’s treating you good. Make sure to live in it, not sulk in it.
I love you, you know that. So does Jacob, and soon enough Carlie will know too.
I will always be here for you and Jacob and Carlie. Please call me after you guys
get settled in. Promise me? I love you.” Bella bent down to give Carlie a last
kiss on the forhead, then turning to me and braced me in another hug.
“ I promise. We will come and visit, any chance we get. I love you, mom. Thanks
for everything you have given me. Especially my life.” Crying made it seem
impossible to that my tears weren’t sad, but happy tears. Edward joined in, then
soon enough we all filed in for a last moment. Seth went to Carlie, who was
deeply asleep, to giver her a kiss and something that caught my eye. I knew one
day Seth would be my son-in-law. How odd. Jacob and I got in the car. The two
worlds joined in unison, by one person, to say their good-byes. We knew this
world and that we lived in it, something others did not. We truly knew how to
create peace and unsettle it, though from experience, we loved each other
eternily. I had to say something.
“ I love you all. Never forget that, ever. Call us if any of you need anything.
Good-bye.” After my slurred words were out we were off to start a hole new world
in the dull town of Elma, who knew were it was?
Chapter 9 - A Call Back Home

Carlie has grown drastically, considering she’s one-third human, one-third
vampire, and seeming to show most signs of, one- third werewolf. She has been a
blessing to us in many ways. We have said good-bye to Forks and La Push for a
little over a month. Getting a phone call from my parents every week. We made
plans to visit for Halloween. Knowing this would be hilarious considering our
ethnic group. Living distant from our family has been somewhat difficult
considering Jacob and I have no idea on how to exactly raise our daughter.
Considering she’s one-third of what we have in us. But, so far we have done an
outstanding job. I knew one day I would have to face my fears, but never would I
thought of it being soon.

I was gathering last minue things to take back to Forks for our one week
stay. Carlie was in her highchair waiting for her breakfast, when my cell-phone
vibrated on the counter. Stopping in my tracks, I picked it up to see who was
calling.
Alice.
“ Alice. Hello.” Dutifully doing. Still rummaging through the fridge for
appropiate food for Carlie.
“ Hey. How are you? How’s Carlie and Jacob?” Alice asked with tension in her
voice.
“ Their great, you? Anything wrong? “ I was getting nervous. Alice took
awhile answering.
“ No nothing’s wrong, well yeah there is. Emily is in labor and she won’t do
anything until you get here. She said that she maide you a promise and she was
keeping it, no matter what.” Alice was feeling disgusted and wrong by the way I
felt it from her. Having a glass container of baby food in your hand was not a
good idea when having someone tell you that your friend is in labor and won’t do
anything until you get there, I dropped it and everything went everywere.
“ I’ll be right there, let me go get Jacob. Were are you at?” I was in a rush
hour.
“ Were at the house. “Yeah I suggest you get here as soon as possible.” Alice
was shouting in the reciever. In the background I could hear Emily screaming with
Sam coaching her. I had to get over there now.
“ On my way. Thanks, bye.” I hung up first. I slovenly antisepticd every inch
of were it spilt and picked up Carlie from her highchaire and went to retrieve
Jacob, who was still heavly asleep. Kicking the door down seemed to make the
whole difference in the world. Jacob sensed my worry and knew what was happening
and got ready and we were off in the car.

Chapter 10 - Uley

Driving for two hours was horrible. Finally we got to the house. Emily was
in the middle of the room in a hospital bed, with Sam at her side. Carlisle was
trying to tell her to push, only until she saw me she did.
“ Emily, come on we can do this. Do what Carlisle says.” I was trying to
soothe her. I had no idea how bad child birth really is, so I just tried to act
like I had felt the same measure of pain.
Poor Emily was just panting her way through. Sam as to what it seems, was in the
same amount of pain. I was stroking her hair with a cold wash-cloth and telling
her how precious motherhood is.
Everything was going good up until Carlisle was the one to say, “ Uh-oh, we have a
problem.” All looked up at his taxed face.
“ What do you mean we have a problem?” I was straining as well. Carlisle knew
what he was doing, but what was so bad?
“ The baby seems to be breech. We’ll have to do an emergency-C-section. Emily
are you ok with that? It will be the safest way for you amd the baby both to be
delivered.” Poor Emily. I had the same procedure, but didn’t get to actually see
Carlie being born. Emily was fidgetting in her mind for all the possibilities.
“ I’ll do it. Anything that makes my baby safe. And myself.” Carlisle nodded and
we all pitched in to help him wheel the bed up to the Carlisle’s study. All was
quiet down stairs. I didn’t know where Carlie or Jacob was, I was just glad they
weren’t here to see it. We made into the room with no troubles. Carlisle started
hooking her up to more and more machines by the minute. Concidering that I never
actually got to see myself give birth, I was a little anxious. Knowing how hard
it must be for Emily, and especially Sam watching her go through it and have
nothing to protect her from.
