INSTALLER PLEASE LEAVE WITH COOLER
This manual provides installation, maintenance and trouble shooting
guide for the following basic water cooler models:
HF-4, -8, -10, -14 * HWS-4, -8 & 13
HW-8, -14 HFX16W
READ THESE INSTRUCTIONS BEFORE STARTING INSTALLATION
IMPORTANT
I. Safety Precautions
A. Do not allow water to come into contact with
live electrical wires because short circuiting
and shocks can occur.
B. WARNING Beware of rotating fans when
covers are removed.
C. Care should be taken not to puncture refrigera-
tion system lines. Some lines contain gas under
high pressure.
D. Install cooler to conform with all applicable
codes, including the National Electrical Code.
H. Installation
A. WATER SUPPLY The water cooler is fitted
with a
3
/g F.PT. inlet fitting strainer, as shown
on the installation drawings. Connecting lines
must be thoroughly flushed to remove all dirt
and debris before connection to the copier.
Warranty claims will not be accepted if the inlet
strainer, coil or valve are blocked with foreign
matter.
These coolers are fitted with a remote connec-
tion. (Do not connect supply line to this fitting
as.it will allow the inlet water to bypass the
cooling coil; therefore not giving cold water at
the bubbler.)
B. DRAIN CONNECTION l
1
^' I.P.S. - The in-
staller must provide a waste trap and install in
accordance to local codes.
C. ELECTRICAL CONNECTIONS
1. Check first to make sure electrical (supply)
voltage is the same as shown on the cooler
serialnameplate. If not the same, do not con-
nect to the electrical supply because major
damage could result.
2. The water cooler must be protectively grounded.
Make sure the supply connection is provided
with a protective grounded wire. Do not use
the cooler if ground wire is not connected.
3. Connect the cooler only by the lead provided.
Do not wire direct to the compressor.
D. VENTILATION
To maintain proper ventilation.and correct func-
tioning of the water cooler a 4" clearance is
required on each side of the cooler louvers.
Failure to comply could cause the compressor
to fail and therefore void the warranty.
E. INSTALLATION OF COOLER
The drawings provided with these instructions
show the cooler dimensions, location of all the
required services and mounting instructions for
the wall hung models. The installer is respon-
sible for providing the drain trap and shut off
valve.
F. CONDENSER FAN
Before plugging unit into electrical supply make
sure fan rotates freely. Failure to check free fan
movement can cause compressor failure, voiding
the warranty.
G. ADJUSTMENTS
The water flow cartridge and thermostat are set
at the factory. Adjustments, if required, should
be done in accordance with these instructions
(Maintenance] and by a trained technician.
III. Maintenance
A. GENERAL .
Any work carried out inside the cabinet (once
front panel is rernoved) must be done by a
qualified technician who is aware of the
hazards.
B. MAINTENANCE
1. For appearance and hygiene, it is recommended
that the top and cabinet be cleaned regularly
with a mild cleaning agent.
2. Keep the air flow vents clean and free from
paper, debris and dust to assure good operation
C. WATER FLOW ADJUSTMENTS
Access to the cartridge flow regulator is gained
by removing the front panel. (See drawing pro-
vided). The location of the cartridge is in the
upper left hand corner of the cabinet. Adjust-
ments can be made through the hole provided
with a small screw driver. A clockwise rotation
increases the flow rate. An ideal stream height
is approximately 6" above top of drain receptor.
Adjustments to this cartridge are not covered
by the warranty.
D. TEMPERATURE CONTROL THERMOSTAT
This control is located inside front panel and
is factory set at 45 F. For colder water, adjust
the screw in a clockwise direction.
E. STORAGE OF COOLER If location of
cooler is such that it is subjected to freezing
temperature, care should be taken to complete-
ly drain the drinking water storage chamber.
Water cooled models must also have the water
condenser coils completely drained.
WARRANTY
Warranty certificate provided with the cooler tells what
to do in the unlikely event of a failure of your cooler. Ad-
justment to flow ana water temperature are not covered by
the warranty. For detailed information concerning the
maintenance and repair of your water cooler,* contact the
factory and request an instruction Manual.
