meaning, career counseling is defined as the procedure in which a counselor
works collaboratively to help their clients explain, specify, implement, and
regulate work-related decisions, also career counseling addresses the
interaction of work with other life roles. (Admundson, Harris-Bowlsbey & Niles,
2014) The role of a career counselor is to interact with your clients in one-to-
one sessions and respect your individual needs and values in their approach
(Career Counselling, 2014). Every sessions are safe and secure, supportive
and completely confidential, providing the clients with the opportunity to
explore their concerns in depth and merge together constructive career plans.

Firstly the purpose of assesments in counselling is that a counselor or helper
can identify problems of the client during the assessment and also it can
assess a wide range of clients information. The 2

show clearly on where your client strengths and limitations are.
Lastly assessment can also consider what you may want in a career, you will
want to find out not only at your interests, but also your personality, values

clients in learn more about themselve, how they behave and how they react
in certain situations.

boundaries of competence (ACA, 2014). Counselors exercise only within the
boundaries of their competence, based on their learning, training, controlled
experience, state and national professional authorizations, and appropriate
professional experience. Whereas diverse counseling competency is required
across all counseling fields, counselors gain understanding, personal
awareness, sensitivity, dispositions, and skills pertinent to being a socially
competent counselor in working with a diverse client populace.

The last Professional responsibility is New specialty areas of practice (ACA,
2014). Counselors is trained in a specialty areas new to them only after
proper education, training, and organized experience. While building up skills
in new specialty areas, counselors take steps to ensure the ability of their
work and protect others from conceivable destruction.

One of the ethical responsibility is Ethical decision making (ACA, 2014). When
counselors are encounter with ethical dilemma, they use and file, as suitable,
an ethical decision making model that may comprise, but is not limited to,
consultation; consideration of relevant ethical standards, principles, and laws;
generation of conceivable courses of action; deliberation of risks and benefits;
and selection of an objective decision based on the circumstances and
welfare of all involved.

Unwanted complaints is also one of the enthical responsibilities (ACA, 2014).
In unwanted complaints counselor do not initiate, participate in, or encourage
the filing of ethics complaints that are retaliatory in nature or are made with
reckless disregard or willful ignorance of facts that would disprove the
allegation.

must not disagree individuals employment, development, admission to
academic or other programs, tenure, or promotion based solely on their
having made or their being the subject of an ethics objection. This does not
preclude taking action based on the outcome of such proceedings or
considering other applicable information (ACA, 2014).

Assessment are essential in career counseling, As a qualified and competent
counselor, they should be more observe of some guidelines before, during
and after conducting assessment to their clients. According to Zucker(2004),
before conducting the assessment, it is important that the counselor must
provide them with basic information that they require, the counselor should
also conduct the assessment in a conductive environment. As a professional
counselor will emphasize the standard or level of performance expected will
be used to making decisions. The explanation should also be given in terms
and language that the clients can be able to understand (ACA, 2014).





A counselor or administrator can be accompanied by assistants if the number
of individuals is too much to handle, by doing this actually to maximum the
performance in clients taking their assessment, and clients should not sit
beside each other closely or it will affect their personal answer of the test and
it will create much more distractions. Clients must also be in a quiet and
proper air ventilation with proper seating.

During the assessment, there are some instructions the tester or the
counselor should follow. ACA(2014) State that counselor strongly do not allow
unsupervised examination, unless the test tool used is considered for self-
administration. This means counselor and P.A. should be monitoring the
clients during the whole course of test. They are adviced to walk around to
guarantee the clients are in submission.

When administrating the assessment, clients should read the instructions
closely as written, using a regular, unhurried tone of voice and method while
voicing clearly. The orders should not be repeated unless a mistake is made
in the initial reading or the instructions for administering say to do so (Zucker,
2004).

After the assessment is done, the counselor should advance the next steps to
preserve the honesty and validity of clients results (Zucker, 2004).
The counselor should inspect each answer detail and make certain that all
deletions are complete and that there will not be abandoned marks. Answers
that cannot be seen clearly must be darkened by the test administrator so that
it can be read clearly. Marks must be made only with a soft-lead pencil. Test
administrators should strictly must not neither alter nor change student
answers. Check for stray marks in bar code or sheet registration areas, as
these marks can cause test documents to be unidentified or rejected object.
The identifying information on each students answer documents should be
checked for exactness and completed with required information where
necessary as specified by the orders for administering. If students have been
administered a Braille or large-print test, their responses must be transferred
to machine-scoreable answer credentials. Test administrators should also
follow any local guidelines that they have been given.
