Observe all applicable installation regulations,
general guidelines and technical specifica-
tions.
The unit must be installed as described in the
installation and operating instructions guide,
in compliance with AVB Wasser V, Art. 12
(general requirements for the supply of water
in Germany), by a water supply company or by
a party registered in the water supply
company’s index of fitters.
The installation site must be protected against
frost and must ensure protection of the filter
against solvent vapours, fuel oil, suds, acidic
cleaning agents, chemicals of all types, direct
UV irradiation and heat sources over 40 °C.

Multipur backwash filters serve to protect wa-
ter piping and all connected fittings, devices,
works equipment, boiler systems, boilers, pro-
duction systems etc. against malfunctioning
and damage caused by corrosion and impuri-
ties.
The filters can also be used for the filtration of
well, process, boiler feed, cooling and air
conditioning water. Professional advice is Professional advice is Professional advice is Professional advice is Professional advice is

The filters are not suitable for oils, greases,
solvents, soaps and other lubricating media.
Water-soluble substances can also not be
precipitated out.
Function Function Function Function Function
The untreated water flows into the Multipur
through a filter element made of stainless
steel. Impurities > 100 µm or, respectively,
> 200 µm are trapped. Depending on their
weight and size, these particles either fall
directly onto the lower section of the filter
element or cling to the filter element.
During backwashing, the closure element
opens up to the flushing water outlet. The
suction ring segments of the backwashing
element move up and down and back again
over the entire filter surface, vacuuming the
filter cloth with treated water at an extremely
high flow speed.
Backwashing takes place automatically after
the preset backwash interval has elapsed.
The pressure difference between the untreated
water inlet and the treated water outlet of the
filter is measured.
The backwashing process is triggered prima-
rily by differential pressure.
If heavy soiling of the filter element causes the
pressure difference to exceed the preset value
(approx. 0.8 bar) within the preset backwash
interval, then the differential pressure genera-
tor triggers a backwashing. The preset back-
wash interval starts again.
The filter is equipped with a central instrumen-
tation and control (CIC) connection (contact
closes in the event of malfunction or power
failure).

Filters require regular functional monitoring,
maintenance and replacement of operating
parts at certain intervals. See the installation
and operating instructions for the maintenance
intervals. We recommend that you enter into a
service agreement.
For electrical connection in a range of approx.
1.2 m, a separate electrical socket (230V~/
50Hz) is necessary. The supply of power must
be permanently ensured. There should be no
voltage spikes above 1 kV.
A coarse sediment collector must be installed
upstream for water containing coarse sedi-
ment particles > 2 mm.
To backwash, flushing water with a flow of at
least 1.4 l/sec. or 5 m
3
/h must be available.
The available pressure may not fall below
2.5 bar during the backwashing.
A connection to the sewage system (min.
DN 50) must be available for draining the
flushing water.
Avoid extreme water hammering.
