How can school intervene in community activities?

Explain the
modes of operant within an example


A school is an institution designed for the teaching of students (or "pupils") under the direction
of teachers. Most countries have systems of formal education, which is commonly compulsory. In these
systems, students progress through a series of schools. The names for these schools vary by country
(discussed in the Regional section below) but generally include primary school for young children
and secondary school for teenagers who have completed primary education. An institution where higher
education is taught is commonly called a university college or university.
In addition to these core schools, students in a given country may also attend schools before and
after primary and secondary education. Kindergarten or pre-school provide some schooling to very young
children (typically ages 3–5).University, vocational school, college or seminary may be available after
secondary school. A school may also be dedicated to one particular field, such as a school of economics
or a school of dance. Alternative schools may provide nontraditional curriculum and methods.


A community is a social unit of any size that shares common values. Although embodied
or face-to-face communities are usually small, larger or more extended communities such as
a national community, international community and virtual community are also studied.
In human communities, intent, belief, resources, preferences, needs, risks, and a number
of other conditions may be present and common, affecting the identity of the participants and
their degree of cohesiveness.
Since the advent of the Internet, the concept of community has less geographical
limitation, as people can now gather virtually in an online community and share common
interests regardless of physical location. Prior to the internet, virtual communities (like social or
academic organizations) were far more limited by the constraints of available communication
and transportation technologies.
The word "community" is derived from the Old French comunete which is derived from
the Latin communitas (from Latin communis, things held in common), a broad term for
fellowship or organized society.
One broad definition which incorporates all the different
forms of community is
a group or network of persons who are connected (objectively) to each other by relatively
durable social relations that extend beyond immediate genealogical ties, and who mutually
define that relationship (subjectively) as important to their social identity and social practice.

Every school should have three types of information about the community it serves.
Information about the composition of the community, such as the income, educational level and
occupations of the majority of the residents is useful in formulating new programs or adapting
existing ones to meet students' particular needs.

The school should know what community opinion is, regarding both broad educational issues and
the day to day operation of the school itself.
The school should also have some familiarity with the educational resources available in the
community in order that they can be utilized to enrich and enhance the school program.

We observed world environment day on 5
June in our school . In our school it can be
conducted for social work to the community. Our principal Mr. Venu inaugurated this function.
In this day sir inaugurated the function by planting trees in our school and in the near by
community. The students and parents are actively participated in this programme. The
programme gave a morale on the necessity of planting trees in our life. The morale is “ Maram
oru varam” . Then the teachers supply the tree plants to all school students.


School and communities is a part of society, they can related each other. A good school
can create a good society.
