TT Roadster set to gear up for thrills with newsoft-top
ITS A GOOD news day for
blue sky Britain, as Audi has
given us a first glimpse of
next years all-new TT Road-
ster.
We Brits love the TT to
bits, having bought tens of
thousands of them since the
model first arrived at the
end of the 1990s. The new TT
Roadster is set to continue
that with space-age digital
instruments and a new range
of engines.
Buyers wont be able to get
their hands on it until March
2015, but Audi has firmed up
what to expect from the new
soft-top.
A fully-automated folding
fabric roof can give drivers
their moment in the sun,
while the Audi virtual cock-
pit 12.3-inch digital display
can be tailored to show just
about anything from sat-nav
maps to live car information.
The Roadster adds about
90kg onto the coupes chas-
sis, but the entry level petrol
model is still lighter than
similarly-sized hard-tops like
the Seat Leon Cupra 280.
At launch, a 226bhp 2.0-li-
tre turbocharged petrol
engine will be paired with
front or four-wheel drive,
while a 181bhp diesel will
only drive the front wheels.
There will be Sport and S line
trim grades. The diesel will
be known as the TDI ultra
version, with potential for
65mpg and CO2 emissions
rated at only 114g/km plac-
ing it in road tax band C.

Help to Buys beneits
MORE than a third of prop-
erty buyers and home own-
ers in the South West either
havent heard of the Help to
Buy scheme or remain una-
ware of what it is.
Couples living together
need to knowthe law
REPORTS of escalating
house prices have never been
far from the headlines this
year. The latest report from
the Office of National Statis-
tics (ONS) shows that prop-
erty prices have leapt 10.2 per
cent since June across the
country, with rental prices
following close behind.
As property prices skyrock-
et, more couples are making
the decision to pool their re-
sources and move in togeth-
er to increase their buying
power.
The ONS reports that co-
habitation rates have risen
by 22 per cent in the past ten
years, and are set to increase
to 3.3 million families by
2033.
But what many cohabiting
couples dont realise is that
they have very little legal or
financial protection relating
to their property if the rela-
tionship breaks down.
Kate Jones, solicitor at
Hedges Law and member of
family law organisation Res-
olution says: Many couples
dont know that cohabita-
tion and property rights are
not straight forward. This
becomes particularly impor-
tant in the event the relation-
ship ends or if one partner
dies.
Kate Jones explains: If an
unmarried couple living to-
gether split up and the prop-
erty is in one persons name,
the next step is to work out
whether the other person has
an interest in the property
for instance, by paying to-
wards the mortgage, helping
with repairs or even having
contributed to the deposit.
But if these contributions
are not reflected in a writ-
ten agreement setting out
respective shares in the prop-
erty, the partner who is not
named on the title deed may
find themselves fighting to
establish the extent of their
share if they separate and, in
extreme cases, without any
rights to the home they have
shared with their former
partner.
Resolution would like to
see the Government address
this issue urgently to bring
English law into step with
the modern world.
Until there is change, un-
married couples who live to-
gether need to take extra care
when purchasing a property
to ensure that their arrange-
ments are fair and legally
recognisable, she added.
Research by removals com-
pany Bishops Move, which is
this year celebrating its 160th
year, surveyed 1,000 people
about Help to Buy.
In response, 27 per cent in
the South West
said they had
heard of it, but
had no idea what
it was, while 11
per cent hadnt
even heard of it
Bishops Move,
the UKs largest
f ami l y- owned
removals firm
with branches
in Exeter, Bristol
and Cornwall,
also found that
those looking to
buy South West
property are the
least likely in
the UK to look at a houses
investment potential.
Just eight per cent said the
ability to sell it on was the
first thing they looked for on
their initial viewings.
Chris Marshall, Bishops
Move Sales and Marketing
Director, said: This high-
lights the South Wests popu-
larity amongst those look-
ing to retire in the region.
Indeed, our 2012 survey re-
vealed the main motivation
for house buyers in the South
West was in fact retirement.
And whilst Help to Buy is
targeted to first time buyers
it comes as a great surprise
to hear of an acute lack
of understanding. Clearly
something needs to be done
to ensure those looking for
a property are aware of the
many benefits it brings.

Pathways explored
graces Nature in Art
CONTINUING their support
of local community art groups,
Nature in Art welcomes the
return of the Rubicon Textile
Artists to Wallsworth Hall,
Twigworth this month.
Founded by a small group
of individuals who graduated
from Gloscat College together,
they strive to create original
and varied work. They return
to Nature in Art with a textile
display which sees them re-
visit their early inspirations,
including the Malvern Hills,
Cheltenham and Worcester-
shires apple orchards.
The diversity of design
sources is matched by the va-
riety of textile techniques em-
ployed. Hand machine stitch-
ing have been combined with
dyes, print, transfer painting
and collage to colour, create
and embellish the pieces.
These include delicate etch-
ings of grasses, large silk pa-
per landscapes, beautifully
detailed depictions of flora
and fauna, and the colourful
canvas work leaf books.
The exhibition Pathways
Explored is on show for three
weeks, October 7 to 26, and
there is a chance to meet the
artists during the first week of
the exhibition, as they demon-
strate their talents for visitors.
Admission charges apply.

Andy, I feel so lucky to be given
