MINUTES OF THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY
BRAZIL, INDIANA
FOR SEPTEMBER 10, 2014

A meeting with the Board of Public Works was held on September 10, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. in the
Council Chambers of the Brazil City Hall. The meeting was called to order by Mayor Brian
Wyndham.

ROLL CALL: Mayor Brian Wyndham, Ruthann Jeffries, Linda Messmer, City Attorney Traci
Orman and Deputy Clerk Melissa Dorsett
OTHERS PRESENT: Planning and Zoning Administrator Teresa Glenn, Wastewater
Superintendent Billy Goodrich and Brazil Times Representative Ernest Rollins
PLEDGE: The pledge to the Flag was led by Mayor Brian Wyndham.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES: August 27, 2014; Ruthann Jeffries made a motion to approve.
Linda Messmer seconded. The motion passed 3-0.

AUDIENCE COMMENTS: NONE

OLD BUSINESS: NONE

NEW BUSINESS:
1.) Approval of property mowing (see attached list) Property on 110 N. Sycamore has
paid all liens. Linda Messmer made a motion to approve the property mowing list for
September 10, 2014. Ruthann Jeffries seconded. The motion passed 3-0.
2.) Approval of clean-up - (see attached list) Ruthann Jeffries made a motion to
approve the clean up list for September 10, 2014. Linda Messmer seconded. The
motion passed 3-0.
3.) Flood Buyout 21 W. Maple Street The property is in Phase II of the FEMA Flood
Buyout. The property owner of 21 W. Maple Street had moved to Evansville. FEMA had
made several attempts to contact the property owner, with no response. The property
owner has finally been contacted. Appraisals are complete on 21 W. Maple Street. This
is the last property in Phase II to be appraised. Linda Messmer made a motion to
approve the invoices from Wheeler Appraisals for $325.00, and Waters & Associates for
$325.00. Ruthann Jeffries seconded. The motion passed 3-0. Linda Messmer made a
motion to approve moving forward with the offer on 21 W. Maple Street, subject to
FEMA, in the amount of the average of the 2 appraisals. Ruthann Jeffries seconded.
The motion passed 3-0.

CLAIMS:
1.) Clerks Office Linda Messmer made a motion to approve. Ruthann Jeffries
seconded. The motion passed 3-0.
2.) Utilities Office Ruthann Jeffries made a motion to approve. Linda Jeffries
seconded. The motion passed 3-0.

FUTURE AGENDA ITEMS: NONE

ADJOURNMENT: A motion to adjourn the meeting was made by Ruthann Jeffries; seconded
by Linda Messmer. Meeting adjourned 10:16 a.m. The motion passed 3-0.
