Eighth Kathisma

(Following the last verse of Psalm 63 Hear my voice, O God, and the
rest:)

Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, now and
ever, and unto the ages of ages. Amen.

O Heavenly King, Comforter, Spirit of Truth, Who art in all places and
fillest all things, Treasury of good things and Giver of life: Come and
take up Thine abode in us, and cleanse us of every stain, and save our
souls, O Good One.

Holy God, Holy Mighty, Holy Immortal, have mercy on us. (Three Times)

Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, now and
ever, and unto the ages of ages. Amen.

O Most Holy Trinity, have mercy on us. O Lord, blot out our sins. O
Master, pardon our iniquities. O Holy One, visit and heal our infirmities
for Thy name's sake.

Lord have mercy. (Three Times)

Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, now and
ever, and unto ages of ages. Amen.

Our Father, who art in the Heavens, hallowed be Thy name, Thy
Kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven, Give us
this day our daily bread, and forgive us our transgressions, as we
forgive those who transgress against us; and lead us not into
temptation, but deliver us from the evil one.

Penitential Troparia

O Lord, Thou art magnificent!

Who shall intercede when Thou comest in righteous indignation?
Who shall beseech Thee, gracious Lord
Who shall entreat Thee for those who wander and stumble?
None but the heavenly hosts; the Angels, Archangels and Cherubim,
hymning Thee:
"Holy, holy, holy art Thou, O Lord! Have mercy on us!"

Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit.
O Lord, creation beholds Thy magnificence and quakes at Thy glory.
We, Thy people, also reverence Thee, the Immortal God,
Beseeching Thee, Most Holy One:
"Through the prayers of Thy Saints, save us."

Now and ever, and unto ages of ages. Amen.

Companion of the martyrs, physician of the suffering,

All-meritorious Theotokos!
Comfort of the perplexed, peace of the troubled!
Save thy Church and all mankind, peerless guide of Christians!

Lord have mercy (40 times)

Prayers of the Eighth Kathisma

O Holy God, Heavenly King, Lord Jesus Christ, attend from the highest
heavens and hear the piteous cries of Thy children and the petition of
this, Thy servant.

Give me an abundance of tears that I may wash away my numberless

failings which are themselves as plentiful as the falling raindrops and
which exceed in quantity the sands of the oceans.

Disconsolate am I that my misdoings have become beyond counting.

Yet, I know that Thou art merciful and always patiently abideth until
transgressors reform and that Thou dost lament over the waywardness
of Thy creation.

Thou accepted St. Dismas' contrition and offered him salvation when
he cried out: "Lord, remember me, when Thou comest into Thy
kingdom!" Consider me also, gracious Lord, though I have not such
faith. All my actions and my paths are like unto his, and my soul also
cries out!

Again, O Lord, you considered the weeping, penitent woman who came
unto Thee with precious ointment and when she had washed Thy feet
with her tears and dried them with her hair, she didst anoint Thy feet
with the fragrant oils, though the Master of the household had failed to
greet Thee or to wash Thy feet from the dust of the road. Instead of
rebuking her, since she was a great sinner, for the presumption of
touching Thy pure body, Thou didst grant her absolution. In like
manner, receive my degraded soul into Thy loving embrace and
include me amongst Thy rational flock, that I may gaze upon Thy
radiant face and give glory to Thy name; Father, Son and Holy Spirit,
now and ever and unto ages of ages. Amen.

O come, let us worship God our King. (profound bow)

O come, let us worship and fall down before Christ our King and God.
(profound bow)

O come, let us worship and fall down before Christ Himself, our King
and God. (profound bow)
(end of the prayers of the Eighth Kathisma)
