La diversité des langues Digital Library’s mission is to be an excellent information centre
providing information of language origins and its culture. Language is what people use to
communicate with each other. They can do this by speaking, writing, waving their hands or
moving with their body to show others what they mean. Speaking goes back to the first
humans; writing emerged about 5,000 years ago. There are about 7000 languages spoken in
our world today. Only very few are so called world languages, widely spoken by millions of
people, the rest are local languages that are only spoken in certain areas. The most common
languages are Mandarin Chinese, English and Spanish. The La diversité des langues enable
users such as: (a) college students studying history or literature, or both; (b) graduate students
or professional writers; and (c) amateur and professional historians such as history buffs or
faculty respectively. Most of these groups are trained to look for (a) subject, (b) author, (c)
title; or (d) publications date of item in the library. Therefore, The La diversité des langues is
built to keep these four elements in the filing system for digital resources. The whole process
of making the resources accessible online involves various activities such as digitizing,
indexing, digital object management and web publishing.


1.0 Introduction:
Digital information is becoming ubiquitous, permeating every aspect of library work and
every area of study on campus. Researchers and students increasingly look for information in
digital form and publish their findings to an international audience via the global information
infrastructure. These changes profoundly affect the way library users approach and use
information and the way libraries respond to information needs. By seizing the inherent
opportunity of digital technology, the library will become the hub of the knowledge network,
exploiting our unique advantage to select, evaluate and integrate information dispersed across
campus and the world. Through focused selection criteria relevant to scholarly pursuits,
students and researchers alike will benefit from stronger connections to the intellectual
resources of scholarship as the library presents, acquires, and integrates user-centred
information products. The goal of this project is building a digital resources repository by
supporting the creation and preservation of varieties of digital resources as well as the
development of management tools to help the library to preserve, manage and share digital
assets. The DWL enables users such as: (a) college students studying history or literature, or
both; (b) graduate students or professional writers; and (c) amateur and professional
historians such as history buffs or faculty respectively.

2.0 Statement of the objectives:
The La diversité des langues project aspires to further research regarding the processes of
acquiring, creating and preserving digital content on World’s Language and then display the
results of that research on a digital library management system and collaborating web
services reaching out to all stakeholders by means of education and awareness.

In particular the La diversité des langues aim to:
a) Collect online resources data involve language origins and its culture
b) Consuming time and effort for users while searching for related information
c) Enlarge the scope of possible and different resources

3.0 Project Description
This digital library will be developed in an electronic format by Greenstone programmed.
Greenstone is one of software for building and distributing digital library collections. It
provides a new way of organizing information and publishing it on the Internet or CD-ROM.
Greenstone is produced by the New Zealand Digital Library Project at the University of
Waikato, and developed and distributed in cooperation with UNESCO and the Human Info
NGO. It is open-source software, available from under the terms of the
GNU General Public License. This library contains many pages that helps learner find
information easy. These sections are as following:
1. Introductory page: It contains the name of the library and introduction about
library. Also, it has instruction to get information from it. Easy to navigate.
2. Search page: This page has box for users to search data.
3. Title page: Order the data by title
4. Filename page: Sort the data by type of file
5. Home page
6. Help page
7. Preferences page: User can change some features of the interface such as
language, interface format and search preferences.
