Standards means the standards of air prevention and control of air pollution prescribed by the Sate
Board.
Emission means any solid, liquid or gaseous substance coming out of any chimney, duct or flue or any
other outlet.
*Central Board means the Central Pollution Control Board constituted under the Water Prevention
and Control of Pollution Act 1974.
* State Board means the sate Pollution Control Board constituted under the Water Prevention and
Control of Pollution Act 1974 in the state where such act is in force. In other states the State Board
for prevention and Control of Air Pollution constituted by the concerned Sate Government.
Board- The Central or the State Board.
Approved fuel means the fuel approved by the State Board for the purposes of this Act.
Approved appliance means any equipment or gadget used for burning of combustible material or for
generating or consuming any fume, gas or particulate matter and approved by the State board for the
purpose of this Act.
Air pollution control area- It is the area notified by the State Government by notification in Official
Gazette as an Air Pollution Control Area.
