Remarks
Courses marked with different C‐values are protected  from  colliding,  i.e.  timetables  will  be  coordinated  to  avoid  the  positions  in  each  study  period  from  colliding.  A  course  with  the  value  “Ev”  will  be  scheduled after 5 pm, with exception for examinations  which may be scheduled on earlier day time. A course  with  the  value  “X”  may  be  scheduled  in  the  same  positions  as  other  courses  in  the  same  study  period.  “pg”  specifies  that  you  will  be  guaranteed  a  place  in  that  course  in  that  period.  “Comp”  specifies  that  the  course  is  applied  for  in  competition  with  all  other  program  students  at  Mälardalen  University.  “E”  specifies  that  the  course  is  located  and  given  in  Eskilstuna.  “V”  specifies  the  course  location  as  Västerås.   ”Corresponding  course”  (greyish  column)  shows  the  code of a previous corresponding course. If you have  already  taken  the  course marked  in  this  column,  you  have  to  make  another  choice  since  the  two  courses  overlap, and therefore cannot be included in the same  diploma. If there is an “x” in the greyish column there  was  no  corresponding  course  last  year  or  the  year  before.  For  other  overlapping  courses,  please  contact  your Study Advisor at your home department. 
 

Application to courses within the program
The  program  syllabus  and  the  requirements  for  the  degree you are aiming for should be the basis for your  choice of courses. Courses which include compulsory  items  for  the  degree,  are  underlined  and  have  a  yellow  marker  (e.g.  ABC123)  in  the  course  code  column.  If  you  neglect  to  choose  these  courses  Mälardalen  University  can  no  longer  guarantee  that  you  fulfil  the  degree  requirements.  Courses  that  belong  to  the  specialization  Financial  Engineering  within  the  main  field  mathematics/applied  mathematics of the degree have been marked “X” in  the SP column.  The  syllabus  contains  the  courses  to  which  you  have  access,  information  on  courses  to  which  you  have  a  special  admission’s  guarantee,  and  for  which  study  period  this  guarantee  is  valid.  You  may  apply  to  courses  without  a  special  admission’s  guarantee  in  competition  with  other  students  accepted  at  Mälardalen University. Selection is based on the total  number of received credits at the end of the period of  notification,  see  also  the  rules  of  selection  stated  by  the university, http://www.mdh.se/utbildning/   In  order  to  be  accepted  to  a  course,  eligibility  according to the special requirements for the course is  requested.   The course selection and application must be made by  April  15  before  a  fall  semester  and  by  October  15  before  spring  semester.  For  information  about  the  procedure,  contact  the  student  advisor  of  your  department.  

“GN”  and  “AN”  indicate  the  educational  level  of  a  course.  “GN”  signals  undergraduate  studies  up  to  a  Bachelor´s  Degree,  and  “AN”  advanced  level  up  to  a  Master´s  Degree.  100,  200  and  300  marks  the  progression  within  the  undergraduate  level.  For  progression  within  the  advanced  level,  please  check  the course syllabus.  
 

Depending on the number of applicants for individual  courses, a course can be cancelled. You therefore have  to guard your choices with alternative courses.
