Mandatory quarantines of doctors and other people
traveling from three West African countries who have
had direct contact with a person infected with Ebola vi-
rus have begun in New Jersey and New York.
New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie and New York Gov.
Andrew Cuomo announced the mandatory quarantines
as well as other ramped-up screening protocols that
took place immediately at JFK and Newark Liberty In-
ternational Airports.
One health care worker who had contact with Ebola
patients in Africa and who landed at Newark Liberty
Airport Friday already has been quarantined, even
though she initially had no symptoms. However, late
Friday, Christie posted to Twitter that the “health care
worker developed a fever (and) is in isolation (and) be-
ing evaluated at University Hospital Newark.”
In addition to the mandatory quarantine, all travel-
ers who had been to Liberia, Sierra Leone and Guinea —
