Chapter 1 by Guitarfreak8810
Have you ever walked into a room and had the feeling that every set of eyes were focused on you? I mean, everyone has and yet they're extremely shocked when it happens to them. Me? I wish I could say no but sometimes it just happens. I was pretty used to this whole thing. It happened every single time our family moved. My parents were the cream of the crop investors on Wall Street, making more money than Bill Gates in less than a year. We went from living a middle class family life to the elite. But how do I fit into all of this? I was always thought of as a beautiful doll on a shelf, not the one that actually got taken out and played with. Being a doll on a shelf, it was better to gaze at a distance anyway. Deemed useless by my sibilings, I was just the dead weight in the family. But they didn't understand me. No one did. "Miss? Hello?" the entire class was laughing at me. "Sorry?" I looked nervously at the waxed floors. Alright, so I was just like everyone else. Whoop de doo. "Are you," the man looked down at his clipboard, "Melanie Sta...." Oh great now he's going to butcher my name.. "Stawauchlitz?"
Amazing. He got it right, "Yeah, that's me.." my face burned in embarrassment. There were no other new students in the entire school, how could it not be me? "Oh! Your parents are the," "Yes," I cut him off abruptly. I just wanted to fit in for once and not be treated like some weird rich girl who flaunted around money like a complete idiot. "Well here's your book, just feel free to sit wherever," I gently took the miniscule Math book out of his hand. I turned around and looked nervously for an empty seat but I couldn't see one. My eyes finally landed on a pimple faced red headed guy, and no one was even two feet close to him. Oh joy. This will be fun. I took the last open chair next to the guy and the man I understood as Mr. Hamilton started class. "I wanted to do something different today, so I'm going to give you problems to work on in groups. And don't start picking your own because that's my job!" the class let out a large groan. I really didn't care. Hey, maybe I could meet some new people. That wouldn't be all that bad. "So let's see...." Mr. Hamilton agonizingly took the rubber band off of a group of notecards, "Oh and Melanie? I made sure to add your name!" I immediately let my hair behind my ear fall to veil my horrified expression. "Group one.. Toby, Amber, Chelsea, and Maria." he set their cards off to the side of his cramped desk. "Group two.. Shane, Jason, Melanie, and Nick," After that, I stopped paying attention. A guy waved at me with long-ish, black hair that covered his eyes for the most part. After Mr. Hamilton completed his little speech on what we were doing, I rose out of my chair slowly, taking my notebook and pencil, and walked over to the guy from before. "Hi, I'm Melanie."
"Yeah, I'm Jason.. Nice to meet you." Our other two group members joined us. "Hey," a gorgeous blonde haired guy waved at me, "I'm Shane." And that last guy. He was a little... well... I don't even know how to put it. He was a lot nicer looking than Shane, wearing a nice pair of dark jeans with a white t-shirt. His eyes were an amazing shade of brown, very bold but concealed at the same time. His hair was interesting too. It was like a giant curly mop on the top of his head. "Hi.. I'm Nick.." he grabs a chair and sits down. Shane and I scramble to find chairs and we all gather around Jason. "Aren't you guys always in the same groups?" Jason asked as he was doodling in his notebook. It looked like a graveyard, but it wasn't done yet. "Yep," Shane laughed and ruffled Nick's hair. "Your drawing.." I start off, pointing at it, "it's amazing. I love the depth to it.." "Thanks.." he awkwardly flips to the next page to hide it. "It's nothing to hide," I flash my smile at him. Next thing I know, Shane is all gaga eyed over me. "What did I do?" "Nothing, nothing," Shane just laughed. Then we got started on the problems. It's nice when you have parents who can hire you tutors in every subject. I had already learned everything I needed to know in Math until college. This stuff was like cake.
The picture was of a triangle. The problem asked for sin A, cos A, tan A, sin B, cos B, and tan B. The guys spent a good minute scratching their heads, unsure of what to do. Everyone eventually caught on, except Shane. "Hey.." I whisper to him, "do you need help?" "Please! I don't get this sort of thing. Math was never my strongest point," too bad it's mine. Haha. "Alright well all you have to do is.." i point quickly at the triangle, explaining as quickly as I could. Nick was glaring at me for some reason. I don't really understand guys at all. It's like they're from an entirely different planet... "Oh! wow, thanks!" he scribbles on his paper, doing out the problems quickly. Nick just rolls his eyes at this. The bell rings and I'm off to next class. "Hey! Wait!" Shane catches up with me in the hallway. "Yeah?" "Uhm. Well. I was wondering. Could you maybe tutor me? This stuff is really hard. I don't understand it.." "Sure," I laugh "I'd be happy to." "Great! Library after school?" "Okay. See you then," I walk absently off to Spanish. "Hola!" my teacher, Mrs. Sheffield chirps at me, "como te llamas?" "Me llamo Melanie."
"Welcome to Spanish 4 Honors! Take a seat next to Nicholas okay?" I wander to the back of the class and sit next to him. He looks at me like I'm slime and turns away. I lean over to him. "What? What did I do wrong?" "Mel, you've got to be blind. Shane doesn't need help in Math. He's got an A in the class and a 4.5 GPA." "Oh... Why does he ask for my help then?" The bell rings and I angle my body at Mrs. Sheffield. I pass Nick a note. I don't understand. He picks up the note, rolling his eyes and responding. You're the new toy in the toy box. Why do you think he's crawling all over you for help? Oh. I smack myself in the head. I can't even believe myself. I fell for it. I walked right into it. How would you know this all? He's my "best friend"? Besides, I know someone who actually needs help in Math. And he's in our group. Jason was doing fine when I checked. His brown eyes lock on the paper. Are you that dense? Me. I have a D in that class.. Meet me in the library afterschool today okay? We'll have a study group! :)
He frowns, getting up to toss the paper out. He returns to his seat and starts staring out the window blankly. I wish I knew what was on his mind. The bell draws me out of dream land. Lunch time. Great.

Chapter 2 by Guitarfreak8810
I had always hated lunch the first day at a school. It's not like I knew anyone. I stood there quietly in line and tried to rush through. I didn't want to have that whole awkward situation of asking to sit at an almost full table just to get turned down. Then I'd sit and eat lunch with a garbage can. No thanks. I decided to just get a salad. Who knows what that was in the so called "turkey" that this school was serving. Bleh. Salad was usually safe. How could you screw that up? I scan the lunch room and can't find anyone I know. Crap. "Hey," Jason walks up behind me, "do you need someone to sit with?" "Yeah. Thanks." I follow him over to a table and sit directly across from him. "So how's your first day going so far?" "You know," I roll my eyes, "suckish." "Oh. I'm sorry." An extremely slim girl sits down next to Jason. Her hair was an eccentric shade of green. It was almost an apple green but it was definitely brighter.
"Hi!" she laughs happily, offering her hand, "I'm Roxanna, but you can just call me Roxy." I shake her hand, "It's nice to meet you! I really love your hair color. I wish I could do that with mine!" "Thanks!" she turns to Jason, "So this is that girl you've been talking about?" His hair sweeps over his eyes, obviously hiding whatever feeling he really had for me. "Hey!" Shane grabs my waist and kisses my cheek, "How you doin'?" "Shane. I don't want you touching me," I almost screamed at him, picking up my tray and walking away to the trash can. I returned back to my seat. "Wow," Roxy chuckles, "I've never seen a girl turn down Shane before. You're a keeper!" "Thanks.." We're joined by three other guys and another girl. "Hey! I'm Hank, this is Ping, and this is Elwood. He likes to be called Woody though.." The tallest of the three laughs hysterically. "Oh, are you that new girl uhm... Melanie?" the girl with long black hair looks down at the ground. "Yeah, just Mel though. What's your name?" "Rosabella." "Wow you have a beautiful name.." The bell rings as I get up and run to my next class. Errrm.... English?
The first thing I notice as I walk into class, is that Nick is there. Funny thing is, I didn't have to look to know. I think I have Nick radar or something. "Miss Stawauchlitz. These are your things. Read this book for Thursday. Take a seat," She looked over her glasses. I find an open seat across the room from Nick. We're in the same row, but I'm sitting by the window. Class starts and I glance down at my book. I've already read Romeo and Juliet. She allows us independent reading for the rest of class. Are these people really that slow? Do they need an entire class to read this? I guess. My eyes wander off of my book and immediately hit Nick. He scratched the back of his neck, making it look completely suspicious. You can tell when a guy is staring at you and let me tell you, he was doing it quite often. "What are you doing?" I mouthed to him without letting out any noise. "I don't know," he goes back to his Romeo and Juliet book. His brow furrows like he's trying to understand something. The bell rings, sending me off to my next class. History. The history teacher was extremely young and very attractive. He had a buzz cut, a dress shirt, and a tie on. "Hi, I'm Melanie." "Hello. Here's your book. You can sit wherever." "Thank you." I found a familiar face in a matter of seconds. Roxy. "Can I sit with you?"
"Yeah, sure," she looks at me happily, like I was saving her from something. "Thanks so much. You're the only person who's been so welcoming to me.. Can I have your cell number if I have a question about something? History isn't really my best subject." "Okay," she scribbled it down quickly on a piece of paper and handed it to me. I shoved it into my bag to add to my cell phone later. Then history class starts. We take notes the entire class and I listen intently to the lecture. In my old school, My history grade was only a B. I was grounded for a week because of it. "So have you met any guys?" Roxy asks, poking me with her pen 5minutes before class ends. "Yeah. I met this guy, Nick Jonas. He's pretty nice," I feel heat coming to my cheek. "That's so. funny." she barely manages to choke out between laughs. "Why?" "Well it's just. He's so." "So... what?" The bell rang and I bolted out of class. Tutoring time with Shane and Nick. Well at least it wouldn't be painful, right?...

Chapter 3 by Guitarfreak8810
It took me a while to find the library. Yes I took out my map (loser), asked random people where the library was (loser), and then I finally asked a teacher (loser). Turns out I was standing right in front of it the entire time. I walked inside, taking out my keys and sliding them across the counter. There was a metal detector. I didn't want to have myself go off or something and get embarrassed again.. I picked up my keys and found a table. I sat at an empty table. Waiting waiting waiting. Three minutes pass as Nick walks into the library. "Hey," he pulls out the chair right next to me and sits down. "Where's Shane?" "I dunno," his bag falls to the floor making a small thump. He pulls out his math book and a notebook. Then he just starts writing. Well, okay then? Shane walks into the library and sits across from us at the table with his chair back against the bookshelf. "Hey!" he laughs as he sits down. "What's with the lip gloss?" I point to his lips which causes Nick to immediately look up. "Oh. It's lip gloss? I thought it was chap stick! I can't believe I fell for that one..." "Alright then," I laugh, "let's get started.." Nick opens up his book and starts doing problems. He does a few but they're almost right. He just kept flipping the fractions. "Nick," I scoot my chair closer to his, using my pencil to note the mistakes, "you don't have to flip these fractions silly," I smile at him. "Ohhhhh. That would explain a lot...." he scratches his head.
Out of nowhere a large box of heavy books falls from the top of the bookshelf, landing directly on Shane. He falls to the ground, knocked unconcious. "Shit, shit, shit!" I bolt from my seat and check his pulse. He's not breathing. Good thing I know CPR, "Nick! Get 911 or something okay?!" I scream at him. A crowd starts gathering around us. I put my lips on Shane's, pinching his nose with my fingers. I blow into his mouth. His chest rises but otherwise, I get nothing.I ripped open his nice button up shirt, tearing off most of the buttons and started compressing. 30 times. I then pushed more air into him. He starts breathing and feels my lips on his. He pulls me closer and decides it's okay to just make out with me. I pull away. "Shane, are you alright?" "Yeah.... I'm fine... You saved my life.." he's still laying down on the ground. He tries to get up but I push him back down. "Don't even think about it! The ambulance is on it's way right, Nick?" I turn around to see Nick's face is completely white, "Yeah.. they're coming.." The ambulance pulls up outside the library. They carry Shane out on a stretcher. "Thanks, Mel. I owe you." "It was nothing, Shane. Really. You don't owe me anything." He's loaded into the ambulance and I walk back into the school. Immediately Nick starts clapping for me. Everyone in the library eventually joins in and then gets back to work. I walk over to the table and sit down.
"Wow. I guess he really is desperate.." I laugh and play with my pencil nervously. Nervously? Why? Nick just mumbles something under his breath and gets back to work. I spend the next hour watching him work and doing my homework too. He doesn't need help by the end though. He's improved so much. "Mel," he takes my hand and kisses it, "thanks." My face burns with embarrassment. "It was nothing..." I get up and grab my bag, "Do you need a ride home?" "Yeah, my car is in the shop. Thanks." "Anytime." I pull my car keys out of my bag. I hope he knows nothing about cars.. We walk put to the parking lot and I find my.. Lamborghini.. Should have taken the Honda. "Whoa. Nice car.." "Uhm. Thanks." I jump into the drivers seat and turn the car on, "So, where do you live?" "I'll point it out to you when we get close. It's right off of DelCaro Street." "Huh. You know. I think I live on DelCaro. Is your street like Damon Street?" "Yeah!" I pull out of the parking lot and take a right. Our car ride is pretty silent.
"That's my house," I point out the mansion as we drive by it, "I don't really like it..." "Why?" "Well. I never really liked big houses. I always liked the small ones.." "Oh, That's my house," he points out a house about the same size. "Alright," we pull into the driveway. "NICHOLAS JERRY JONAS!" a woman runs out into the driveway, "WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN!" Two older boys appear at the doorway, their eyes fixated on my car. I get out and introduce myself to the woman. "Hey, I'm Melanie Stawauchlitz, I was helping Nick with his Math homework. I'm sorry for keeping him out so late.." "Oh no, it's perfectly okay. I'm Nick's mom but you can just call me Denise." The two boys who were admiring my car from the doorway ran out. "YOUR CAR IS SO SHINY!" the younger of the two runs up to my car. "Alright... Hey I'm Kevin and that's Joe. It's really nice to meet you," he shakes hands with me, "your car... is that like brand new?.." "Oh yeah. I got it for my birthday and moving present. Since we move so often and everything.." "Well boys, it's time for dinner. It was nice meeting you Melanie!" I hop back into my black Lamborghini and drive off to my house.

Chapter 4 by Guitarfreak8810
- Nick's POV God she's beautiful... She backed her car out of the driveway and zoomed off. I'm joined in the kitchen by my mom, Kevin, and Joe. "How'd you meet her?" my mother asks raising her eyebrows. "She's in almost all of my classes. Except History..." "Oh wow." "She's hot!" Joe laughs and punches my shoulder. God. Shut up. The room falls silent for few minutes. "So you like her?" Kevin squints at me, like he was trying to pull it out of me. No way was I telling him. "I dunno Kev, alright?" I snap back at Kevin. Now everyone knows. Great. "Ooooohh!!!!" We all gather around the table and say grace. Everyone digs in. I was hungry. I got up from the table and went directly to my room. Where's my song notebook? I dig through my backpack once. I still can't find it. Oh god. Where'd I put it? I get up and look through my jacket pocket. I sigh with relief. That was a close one.... If anyone found this.. I can't even stand to think about it. Cause girl I don't know what to do Cause I'm so in love with you. And that's the truth.. I don't know. I just met her today but I feel.. like I've known her my entire life. It's strange.. The way her brown hair flows when she walks... Just everything about her was so perfect. I've never felt this way about a girl with this intensity. Miley didn't even compare to Mel. I pick up my guitar and strum, staring up at the ceiling.
I don't want to tell her now. She'd probably think I was some weird celebrity stalker. Then again, most people don't know that I'm in the Jonas Brothers. They just decide my music sucks and don't give it another look. Joe knocks on my door and walks in. "Hey lover boy. How's it going?" "Not good.. I think I like her too much for one day of knowing her.." "Hey, maybe she likes you back! You never know. Woman are mysterious," he shrugs, "but I really liked those lyrics you were singing a little while ago?" "Oh. Thanks." "See ya." He walks out of my room and gently closes the door behind him. I mindlessly strum my guitar over and over. I don't even care what chords I'm playing because all I can see is her.. The rock star life must be getting to me. I put down my guitar and roll up in the covers. Whatever, I'll just try to sleep I guess. - End Nick's POV I jumped out of my car and walked up the driveway of our house. I unlocked the door and walked inside. My parents were never home before 8. I'm an only child. I ran up to my room and immediately turned on my computer. I miss my old friends so much... I login to Facebook. I had 102 friend requests from people at my new school. Crap. I don't even know half of these people. I add Shane, Jason, and Roxy. I was kind of curious and went hunting for Nick's profile. So I just typed in "Nick Jonas" in the search bar. Holy.
Cow. He's. THE Nick Jonas. Holy. Cow. I add myself as a fan of the Jonas Brothers. I had never heard their music so I did a search on YouTube. I must have listened to every song while doing my homework.. I looked down at my homework, trying to concentrate. I look up and see Nick on stage with his guitar playing for thousands of screaming girls. Great guy to start crushing on right? But wait. I didn't have a crush on Nick Jonas. What was I thinking? Only a complete nutso would have a crush on him. Shane on the other hand... No. He's weird. Way too desperate. Never mind that thought. I laughed at even thinking of him and flopped down on my bed. Tomorrow will be interesting... I could just imagine it. "Hey Nick, I didn't know you were a famous rock star!" "Wow. And I thought I was blind," he walked away, uninterested in what else I had to say.

Chapter 5 by Guitarfreak8810
My mind wanders aimlessly. I can't stop thinking about him. I fall asleep, moderately annoyed with the fact he's haunting my mind. My eyes flutter open at 5:24 AM. One minute before my alarm normally goes off. What an annoyance.. I get up and take a quick shower, still thinking about Nick. What if he doesn't like me? What if it's just nothing? What if he already has a girlfriend? I don't care. No I don't. I don't like Nick that way. I hop out of the shower and throw on some clothes. I sling my hair into a ponytail, not even bothering to put on makeup. Too lazy.. I run down stairs and grab my keys. There's no food in my house. I jump into my car and drive out to Starbucks. I buy a muffin and two iced coffees. I drive back to the house, eating the muffin and driving. I'm a very good multitasker (sarcasm) and almost hit a tree. I have no idea why I bought two iced coffees. I mean, one is enough to keep me going the entire day.. Well whatever. I rush back into the house. Why? I have no idea. I whip out the phone book and look up Nick's number. I wait until 6 to call his house, since school starts at about 6:45. "Hello?" Denise answers the phone. "Hey! This is Mel. Uhm I was wondering if Nick needed a ride to school or something? Because I'm leaving in about ten minutes?" "Oh! That's so sweet of you! I'm pretty sick of driving him to school though... So yes, that would be wonderful. He's up and almost ready to go!" "Alright, I'll be there in 10. I can give him a ride to school everyday, if that makes things easier for you?" "That would be so wonderful! Thank you Melanie!" "Anytime, Denise! Good bye!"
I hang up and run to get my bag. I sling it over my shoulder. It's not heavy which is nice for a change. At my old school, they used to make you haul around everything. No lockers at all. It was horrible... I run out the door, leaving it unlocked. My parents are still home. They don't leave for another two hours or so. I turn on the car and drive slowly over to Nick's house, sensing that I'm early. I jump out and walk up to the door. Denise invites me inside. "Hey, does Nick like iced coffee? because I mindlessly bought two..." "He loves it! That's so nice of you to offer," she laughs while making breakfast. "Guess who?!" someone walks up behind me and covers my eyes. "Who?" I'm act completely confused. It's so obvious it's Joe that it's not even funny. "It's me, Joe! Silly!" Nick comes running down the stairs. "Hi Mel," he smiles at me, "Bye mom!" he kisses her on the cheek before running out the door. I follow him outside, "Bye guys!" He's sitting in the passenger seat when I walk out. I jump into my car. "So. I bought an extra iced coffee this morning. I don't really know what I was thinking. My brain is in a fog..." "Thanks," he kisses me gently on the cheek. My eyes fly open in surprise, "What?" he frowns. "Nothing. nothing.." I back out of the driveway and gun it.
"How was the Math homework?" I barely manage to choke out. I just got kissed by Nick Jonas! What do you expect! "It was so easy. Thanks for the help," he says drinking the coffee. "Oh yeah, anytime," I giggle. Did I seriously just do that? Oh wow. "You never told me," he looks over at me. I slow down, "told you what?" "You know," his eyes pierce into me, "that your parents are super rich. Richer than Bill Gates..." "Well," I try to recover from the stab, "you never told me you were in the Jonas Brothers!" We finally reach the school. "By the way, your voice is stunning.." I stop the car and unlock the doors. "Thanks.." he mumbles something I can't hear. We both get out of the car at the same time. "Whoa! Nice car Mel!" Roxy yells from across the parking lot, running up to Nick and I. "Thanks Roxy," I laugh awkwardly. I kinda wanted to talk to Nick more but I know I'll have more time later.. I turn and start walking into school. Roxy walks on my left and Nick walks on my right. I never noticed earlier that he was carrying his acoustic guitar.. It was stunning, the body was beautiful. "Did you always have that with you?" I broke the silence. "Yes....?" he looks over at me like I'm crazy.
We reach the doors of the school. Thank god. All of a sudden my entire world goes black and the last thing I heard was Nick shouting my name.

Chapter 6 by Guitarfreak8810
- Jason's POV I was just trying to get her to pay attention to me. Is that such a crime? Alright, so I admit it, chucking a rock at the door of the school was a stupid idea. I didn't mean to hit her though. I just feel so awful now. Watching her body fall to the ground... Good thing Nick was there to catch her. What was I saying? I hated Nick. He was a rock star and every single girl at school worshipped him. Not Jason. The ugly beast. Who could love me? I just cower in the shadows of the true heroes. Nick held her close to him and yelled to Roxy. "Go get help! Call 911.." he stared deeply into her eyes. That's when Roxy looked. She saw me. I ran. - End Jason's POV - Nick's POV Roxy paused for a moment. Her face turned pale. "Roxy.. Now?" I looked over at her anxiously. "Right," she whips out her cell phone and dials 911. My eyes latch on to Melanie's expressionless face. What did such an angel do to deserve this? I look down at the ground an notice a large rock. Someone... threw a rock? When I figure out who did this... The ambulance drove up on the side walk, blocking the way of most of the students. I carried her over to the paramedic and put her into his arms. "Please, take care of her," I pleaded with him, holding back tears.
He just turned and put her on the stretcher. I noticed Mel's bag on the ground so I picked it up. She dropped her keys... Well. I better bring her car back to her house. I guess. "Roxy, come on," I grabbed her arm and pulled her through the crowd of students. "Nick!" Miley yells at me. Not now Miley... Can I ever escape? "Are you okay?!" She almost jumped on me but Roxy pushed her away. "Thanks," I whisper to her and hop into Mel's car. I put the keys into the engine. "Should we be doing this?" I ask Roxy. "Well, I wouldn't leave this thing here in the parking lot," she pats the Lamborghini, "besides, we need to get to the hospital to see her. I would bet her parents wouldn't even bother visiting." "Wait, how would you know about her parents?" I gas it out of the school parking lot. Who cares? I have to see Mel. "She told me.." I pull into Mel's driveway and then grab Roxy's hand, towing her over to my house. "Mom!" I drag Roxy into the house, "Can I borrow your car?" "Who's that?" she asks, eyeing our hands suspiciously. "Mom, Roxy. Roxy, Mom. Okay now that we have that settled. Can I have your keys? Please? Mel's in the hospital and I'm really worried about her." "Well, I think you should have Joseph drive you.. Kevin already left with Frankie and Paul's working.. Joe! Come down here and drive your brother to the hospital."
He comes bolting down the stairs, "What's wrong with him?" "Nothing. It's Mel.." I awkwardly look down at the ground. "Alright, let's go!" he grabs his keys and runs out the door. Roxy pulls me out the door. We climb into Joe's car. "So it's the general hospital right?" Joe turns around and backs the car out. "Yeah I think so," I take Roxy's hand for comfort. "Thanks," I barely manage to whisper to her. "She's going to be okay, don't worry," she hugs me gently and starts laughing hysterically. "What's so funny???" Joe turns around. "Your face!! Do that again!" Roxy is cracking up beyond belief. I'm just confused! He contorts his dace and crosses his eyes. Joe.. I just roll my eyes and stare out the window. I hope she's okay. We pull up at the hospital. I don't even wait for Joe to stop the car. I just open the door and start running. Out of breath, I reach the counter, "I'm looking for Melanie? Stawauchlitz? Which room?!" I practically jump over the counter to strangle the receptionist. She was looking it up on her compute, intentionally taking as long as she can. She slowly types in her name. Can we hurry this up a bit?? "607, but just wait in the 6th floor waiting room. The doctor will walk out and talk to you when he gets her steady."
"Thank you!" I run from the desk, practically running into people trying to get to her room, "Sorry! Sorry! Excuse me!" I decided to take the stairs. I ran up six flights of stairs for her. The elevator would have taken too long. I reach the top and run into the waiting room. My doctor, Dr. Stan as I call him, was standing in there. "Nicholas! What are you doing here?" his eyes are wide open, noticing that I'm completely out of breath. "I'm here for Melanie Stawauchlitz," I bend over, trying to catch my breath. I'd like to see you run up six flights of stairs.. "Oh. Well, she's okay. You can go to her room. 607.. She's just..." I can't hear what he says after that because I dart to her room. 604, 605, 606, 607! I fling open the door and rush over to her bed. I grasp her hand, kissing it lightly. "Melanie," I whisper. Her eyes flutter open in astonishment. - End Nick's POV -

Chapter 7 by Guitarfreak8810
When my eyes opened, I couldn't believe my eyes. There he was, the man of my dreams. Standing right before me. "Hi.." I said softly. "Thank goodness you're okay.." He strokes my hair, "I was so worried."
I laugh softly, "what happened?" "Well.. I don't know really. I think you got hit by a rock or something. I couldn't really tell though," he shrugged. "MEL!" Roxy runs into the room, letting go of Joe's hand. Yup I totally saw that.. "Hun, are you alright? I think I know who did this to you..." she pushes Nick out of the way and hugs me. "Owww..." I groan and put my covers over my face. Everyone burts out laughing. "Who did it?" Nick stares at Roxy. "I think it was Jason.. He was in the bushes.." "Why would he do that?" I feel tears rolling down my face. Joe leans against the door, looking at the overly clean tiles. "Shhhhhhh," Nick rubs his thumb in small circles on my hand, "Don't cry babe." "Babe?" my eyes flicker to Roxy who's holding in a laugh. "Eeeerrrm. I said Mel?" his cheeks flush red. Gotchya! Everyone just laughs. "I'm hungry!" I almost jump out of the rock hard hospital bed. "I'll go get a nurse," Nick walks out of the room. "That's so cute," Roxy whispers into my ear almost exploding with laughter.
"I wouldn't be talking miss I have a crush on Joe Jonas!" I whisper yell into her ear. "HEY! DO NOT!" She screams out and starts 'crying'. "Roxy! What's wrong?" Joe runs over and pulls her into a hug. I mouth at her "told ya so". She just rolls her eyes. Nick comes running back into the room. "She'll... be.... here... with... lunch....." he barely manages to choke out between gasps. "What? Did you run to the main lobby to ask?" I laugh, "you know, you could have just asked the nurse in the hallway?" He sighs, "shoot...." "Hey Nick? I have to go.. Uhm do you want to stay here?" "Yes," he says without looking back at Joe. "Alright. Uhm Roxy do you need a ride to your place?" "Yeah, that would be very sweet of you, Joseph," he blushes and I just crack up. "I'll call you later Roxy! Count on it!" I can't stop laughing, "See you later!" They leave the room and it's just Nick and I. "So," I eye him curiously, "Uhm, so you just decided to skip school to come down here and see me?" "What? I can't skip school to come see my friend in the hospital?"
"Not acceptable Nicholas Jerry Jonas!" I couldn't help it! "Haha, very funny.." he ruffled my hair, "so how did you find out I was in the Jonas Brothers?.." "Oh," I try to think back to last night, "well I was on Facebook and I had a TON of friend requests and I just typed your name into the search bar. You didn't add me as a friend and then I got to the Jonas Brothers band page.. Yeah.. How did you find out about my parents?" "Uh.. I was reading the newspaper before you came over this morning. It had a picture of you and your parents in front of your new house. It talked about how your parents were rich and that you were an only child.." "Excuse me miss?" a blonde haired boy who looks similar to Shane walks in carrying a tray of food. "Are you related to Shane?" I ask him while he puts my tray down on a nearby table. He laughs, brushing his hand through his hair and flashing his smile, "Yeah." "Oh," I laugh awkwardly. "Wow Nick, I didn't even notice you there! How's it going my man?" "It's alright Danny.." "We'll I'll see ya later," he winks at me and leaves the room. "Exactly like his brother.." I say taking the applesauce off of the tray and eating it. "So.. Did you listen to any of our music?"
"Uhm yeah.. I really liked Just Friends. Such a cute song.. And well I dunno..." Yeah like that'll ever happen to me. He doesn't like me. I know it. "Yeah.. We're making a new album. I'll make sure to get it to you early," he laughs and looks into my eyes. "Ahhhh!" I spill applesauce on my blanket, "crap..." "Wow, your life sucks. No just kidding," he gets a napkin and wipes it off for me, "besides, you had it coming..." "Haha, very funny," I stare into his eyes and move closer to him. "Visiting hours are over for today," the nurse walks in, leaning on the door frame. "See you real soon Mel okay? Lo-" he stops himself and turns red, "Uhm yeah. Bye." "He's so sweet!" the nurse laughs, checking all the machinery around me. "Well. It seems you're okay. You can go home tomorrow afternoon if you get your rest. You should sleep." "Could you shut off the light for me?" She shuts off the light and walks out of the room. NICK JONAS! Wow... He's. Just. Wow. But he doesn't like me. He just kissed me this morning because he was being nice. It was because I bought him a coffee. Oh who am I kidding? He must like me! Why else would he run here to see me??? I let my mind think about Nick as I drift off to sleep.

Chapter 8 by Guitarfreak8810
- Jason's POV I just skipped school. Whatever man. You know. I don't care anymore. I don't want Mel. I don't want any girls at our school for that matter. They're all stupid! They just don't understand a monster... with a troubled past like me. Mel. She was beautiful. Roxy was too. But it's not like I have any chance with either of them. Whatever. I don't CARE! DON'T YOU GET IT! I JUST DON'T CARE! - End Jason's POV - Nick's POV I couldn't wait for school to be over. My mom said she would let me use her car to drive to visit Mel. I missed her like crazy. School just wasn't the same anymore. I got weird glares from Jason during lunch. Roxy sat next to him. I can't believe she's still hanging out with him even though he's a complete jerk. I mean, if you thought Shane was a jerk, this guy was ten times that. Or more. Shane bugged me like he normally did. You know, telling me about Mel and how awesome she was for saving his life. I bet he didn't even know she's in the hospital... The bell was about to ring. I jumped up and walked to the door. "Nick, what are you doing?" Jesse eyes me curiously. "I have to go see Mel. She's in the hospital," My eyes find my shoes and are locked onto them until the bell rings. My legs move quickly as the ground fades out below them. Thank god it's Friday. I jump into my mom's waiting car.
"So hun, how was your day?" "it was okay..." "Oh. You have a recording session on Sunday." "Why are you telling me this?", we pull into the driveway. "Just in case," she leaves the keys in the ignition, "Be safe, Nick." "Alright," I jump in and start driving to the hospital. This time I park the car and bring it to a full stop before running up the six flights of stairs to her room. "Hey!" I run into her room. "Hey Nicky!" she laughs and gets up on the bed. She's dressed in her normal clothes. "Are they letting you leave?" "Uhm yeah. I was allowed to leave but I didn't have a ride home. I knew you'd come sooooo... Can you drive me home?" "Sure," I laugh and help her up. I take her by the hand and lead her out of the room. - End Nick's POV Nick Jonas was actually holding MY hand! Like his fans would say "OMJ!" Anyway, he pulled me into the elevator, and no one else got on. When the doors closed he pulled me closer. He kissed my forehead very quickly, mumbling something under his breath. I leaned into him and put my lips right on his. It was a short but sweet kiss. I broke away from him and blushed. The elevator doors were wide open. The nurses were just awing at us. Kind of annoying....
"Uhm. We can get out of the elevator now..." "Oh!" he laughs and shows me out to his car. "So," he sticks his hand in his pocket, digging around for his keys, "do you want to go out for dinner or something? To celebrate getting out of that joint?" "Yeah sure. That sounds awesome.. Where to?" He unlocks the car and gets in. I buckle my seatbelt. "I dunno. Where do you want to go?" "Honestly, I don't really care. We can go to the grocery store and just buy some stuff to cook over at my house if you want to." "That sounds good.." we drive off into the horizon. He turns up his own music without the vocals and starts singing along. Too bad I don't know any of the words.

Chapter 9 by Guitarfreak8810
The grocery store doors slide open slowly and painfully. Nick gets a small basket for the food. "So, what do you want for dinner?" "Anything you can make is great!" "How about.. tacos?" "TACOS!"
"I take that as a yes then.." He runs down the first aisle, colliding with an innocent bystander during the process. I catch up to him "OMJ are you okay?" There he is in a heap on the floor, laughing hysterically with... Shane??? "Oh!" Shane jumps up, "hey Mel!" he kisses me on the cheek. "Uhm, hi..." I laugh awkwardly, trying to act as if nothing happened, "come on Nick, we have to get going hun.." I pull Nick up and he slides his arm around my waist. "It was really nice seeing you Shane," I giggle and turn to Nick who's holding in his laughter. "So.. you two are a thing? I don't think so.." "Maybe Shane," I wink seductively at him. I pull Nick down the aisle and can't help but laugh. "Good job, we really had him fooled!!!" "Yeah.." he keeps his arm around my waist and points out the hamburger, "we'll be needing that.." I almost fall into the frige like unit. Thank god he catches me before I go head first into the meat. He pulls me back up. "I don't think grocery shopping is even safe for you.." He's less than an inch away from my face and he kisses me on the lips. We were about to start making out... "AHEM!" a grouchy middle aged man yells at us.
"Just because you're jealous doesn't mean you can rain on our parade!" I pick up the meat and pull Nick to another aisle. We finish up our shopping, goofing off and what not. As I walk to the check out, I place the small basket on the conveyor. "Hey Mel are you alright here by yourself? I'll be back in a flash!" he runs out of the store mysteriously, stopping by the gum ball machines. Uhm. Weird? I pay for the food and get it all in one bag. I walk out to find Nick standing there waiting. "So?" "So what?" he laughs. He's not chewing gum. "Do you want to invite Kevin and Joe over? Maybe Roxy and Rosabella?" "Sure! We could party," he takes the bag out of my hand and we walk over to his car. The drive home is silent. But it's not awkward at all. For some reason, it just seems perfect. We pull into my driveway. I just feel in a daze.. "Could you call them all? I have Rosabella's number if you need it." "Yeah, okay," he pulls the grocery bag out of the back seat as I run up to the house and unlock the door. The house is quiet as usual. My parents went on a trip to the Bahamas for a week so they won't mind if I have a big bash. He walks into the house and brings the bag in. His eyes are fixed on me. He plops the bag down on the counter. He starts making the phone calls as I make the taco meat.
It takes a while to make 10 lbs of meat into taco meat. I pull up a stool and sit there, staring into the meat. I wonder if Nick wants to be my boyfriend? Does he really like me or is he just messing with me? He walks up behind me, interrupting my thoughts. "They'll all be here in a few minutes.." Nick turns me around from the taco meat, "but I have something to ask you before they get here." "And what would that be?" "Melanie," shivers run up and down my spine as he gets down on one knee. He pulls a plastic ring from his pocket with an extremely large 'diamond' in it. "Will you, be my girlfriend?" His face screams please but his eyes are what really makes me say it. "Yes!" I let him put the fake ring on my finger and kiss him gently on the lips. Things start going a little crazy. The fireworks in my head take over my mind. I need more. I want more. We start making out heavily when laughing interrupts us. "God! Could you stop kissing for even a second to say hi?" Kevin laughs, winking at Nick. His face is burning red. Kodac moment! I turn back to the taco meat, happy to learn that it has finally finished cooking. More people enter the house. "Haha Joe, you're sooo funny," Roxy giggles. "Dinner's ready!" I put out plates and everything you could imagine to even put on a taco, "Serve yourself!" I stand there and watch everyone take a serving before I help myself. "Do you guys want to watch a movie while we eat or something?"
"Yeah that sounds cool!" Joe says, running around in circles. I lead the group into the family room. Even though technically it really wasn't a family room.

Chapter 10 by Guitarfreak8810
"Hm. This could be a tight squeeze.. Well we can just go into the basement.." I open up the basement door and walk down there. I flick on the lights. The basement is the same as our old house. A movie theater. There was about seven rows of ten red comfy chairs. In the back a long bar stretched from one side of the room to the other. "Holy shit," Roxy laughs, "Sorry.." "Ha so take a seat wherever and we'll pick a movie." Kevin sits next to Rosabella in the middle row, Joe and Roxy sit one row in front of them, Nick sat in the last row. "So... Any new movie you guys want to see?" "OH! James Bond?!?" Nick almost flies out of his seat. Everyone else mumbles in agreement and I select the movie, shutting off the lights. I run over to where Nick is munching happily on his taco. "Good choice." "Yeah," he whispers, "James Bond is my favorite.."
I munch on my taco for what seems like seconds. I pause the movie half way through. "Do you guys need candy, snacks, food? Name it and I can get it..." "Gummi bears?!?!" Joe falls off his seat from excitement. I walk behind the bar and look on the list that covers the entire counter. 132 - Gummi bears. I type in the number on the green LCD screen and out pops a bag of gummi bears. My arm moves behind my ear and swiftly moves past my face. Perfect shot! It smacks him in the back of the head. "Dude! That was awesome!!!" "Guys, lemme show you how to get food incase you need it. Come over here please." They all slowly stand and walk over, walking to the other side of the bar. "Alright, all the foods are organized on this list alphabetically, just punch in the number on this key pad here and it should just pop out. If what you're looking for is fast food," I guide them over to the phone with a small table beside it. The table has a glass case that goes through the floors, "All you have to do is pick the fast food place off the list. Don't worry it's all free.. Just don't order drinks.. Get them from the food bar.." "Why?" Nick looks curiously at me. "The soda spills in the chute and it's horrible to clean out.." "This is. Sweet. Twenty four seven Taco Bell?!?" Nick almost faints. "Hm. So if I want a cheese burger from McDonald's... I just...?" he picks the phone up and dials 1. He orders and within seconds, it's shot through the chute.
"Thats so cool, Mel!" Roxy stares at Kevin's monstrous cheese burger. "Thanks.." "Twenty four seven Diet Cokes..." Nick presses his lips against mine. As much as I enjoy his kissing, it's hard to breathe when he's crushing my lungs. "You've created a demon!" Joe laughs and orders a fruit smoothie. Nick orders a Diet Coke and a Dr. Pepper for me. Everyone gets back to their seats as I start the movie again. "Hey," Nick takes my hand. "Yeah?" "I.. nevermind," he turns back to the movie and furrows his brow. The movie goes by quickly and soon enough it's 9 PM. Joe's cell phone is screaming at him and so isn't Kevin's.. Weird. They both pick up. "Hello?" they answer in the same moment. "Uh huh," Kevin looks over at Joe, "We'll be there soon, Okay?" "Bye!" Joe hangs up. "I'm sorry Melanie, but Joe and I have some recording to catch up on," he turns to Rosabella and Roxy, "do you guys want a ride home?" "Uhmmmm..." Roxy eyes me and I give her the death look. That means good bye! "Yeah uhm that would be so nice." They all walk up the stairs, I hope they can find the way out of the house.. Nick pokes me.
"So, what do you want to doooo??" "I dunno. Hey maybe you want to sleep over?" my smile extends beyond my face. I can't help it! He's just so cute! "That would b-be.. g-g-good.. just let me-e call my m-mother," he whips out his cell phone and dials rapidly. I walk upstairs to give him some privacy. I mean, I don't want him to not want to stay. But I don't want him to think of it as... awkward? Pounding up the stairs, his feet stop on the last step. He hangs up his cell phone with a satisfying snap. "Yeah, It's okay, I just need to go get some stuff from my house. Can I leave you here alone?" "Duh...?" "Well I don't know! You might spontaneously catch on fire or something if I'm not careful..." he beings muttering. "Trust me," I kiss him on the nose, "I'll be fine." "O-okay. See y-you in a few m-minutes!" he barely manages to stumble out of the front door. I close the door behind him. My legs move me from the bottom of the stairs to the top. My feet barely feel the carpet touching their bottoms. That's when I walk into my room and scream. Could this day get any better?! I throw on my pj's and grab my drum sticks. Why didn't I join band again?.. my mind starts to wander as I walk down the stairs. Oh yeah that's right... You know... Even though I've only been playing for two years, my parents got me the best teachers money could buy, and I was considered a "musical genius". OKAY MAYBE not genius, but you get the picture. Knock, knock. I happily open the door and almost instantly drop to the floor. Two police officers are standing at my door. If this didn't turn my day gloomy, I don't know what could.
"Melanie?" the plump officer asks sadly, "may we come in please?" "Uhm, sure," I open the door all the way and lead them into the kitchen. They sit down across the table from me. "I'm sorry to inform you of this but..."

Chapter 11 by Guitarfreak8810
"Your parents were... killed.. by carbon monoxide posioning in their hotel room. The FBI is taking up the case so we don't actually know that much. But they've told us that it was either suicide or murder. They are unsure at this point..." My eyes almost fall out of their sockets. I sit there and silently cry with them looking at me. The doorbell rings. The plumper of the officers answers the door. It's Nick. "Excuse me, but is Melanie here?" he asks the police officer, trying to push his way into the house. "She's here but she can't talk to you right now." "Alright.." his feet stop moving, "could you just tell her that Nick came to see her?" "Yes. I will make sure to do so," and with that he closes the door. The cop lumbers back over to the table, sitting on the stool. It moans under his weight. "You can't live here alone," the skinner one that appears to be the cheif looks around the room, "but, we could cut you a deal."
"What would that be?" I ask in a low tone, afraid of talking in my normal voice. It would have cracked instantly. "We could close off your house and when you graduate, we could let you have it back," I frown gloomily at this, "Or. You could have a good family move into your house and live here with them. Of course, you would still be Melanie Stawauchlitz, you'd just be with another family." "Okay. Hold on," I pull out my cell phone and dial the Jonas'. "Hello?" Denise answers cheerfully. "Hi Denise, can you bring your family down to my house? Tell Nick I'm sorry I couldn't answer the door." "Yes dear. Are you alright? It sounds like you've been crying.." "Just come down please?" "Okay, be there in a few minutes," she hangs up before I have the chance to thank her. "So," the police officer points at my drum sticks, "have you been playing long?" "About two years.. My p-parents.." I burst out into tears just thinking about them. Gone. Gone forever.... The people who raised me... who loved me... cared for me... just.... gone. The door bell rings and both officers stand up and walk to the door. They answer and Denise looks shocked. She's invited inside and the entire family gathers around the small kitchen table. The cops inform the family of the.. death of my... parents. Frankie starts pouring out tears. I've never met the kid and yet he cares about me. Nick runs over to me and holds me. I feel so safe in his arms. The waterfall of tears erupts from my eyes, dampening Nick's plaid shirt. It's going to be a long night.

Chapter 12 by Guitarfreak8810
"Shhhhhh, don't cry, love," he strokes my hair delicately, wrapping his arms around me. He carefully hoists me up bridal style and carries me up the stairs. The fleeting image of his family burns in the back of my mind as we reach my room. When he reaches my bed, he gingerly places me on top of the sheets. "Love shhhhh.." he laid down beside me, "I'm so sorry..." he kisses my forehead tenderly and pulls me closer to him. The tears start drowning out everything: thoughts, dreams, hopes. None of it mattered anymore. None. "Nick!" his mother yells up the stairs for him withher voice cracking mid word. "I'll be right back love," he strokes my forehead once before getting up and running out the door down the stairs. Tick, tick, tick. Seconds seem to sluggishly move by like days. The light cumulus cloud that was once my life had turned into a thunder cloud, reeking havoc on every aspect of the innocent lives of the people around me. The murmurs in the kitchen don't give me much comfort either. They were talking about me. But what were they saying? What were they thinking? Sooner or later, I would know. Nick seems to run up the stairs, pounding each step and making a deafening noise. As fast as he can, he runs into the room and jumps on the bed. His arms are wrapped around my body again. A barrage of kisses keep coming at me. "What?" I ask, rolling over and looking away from him. He descends off of the bed. He promptly picks me, twirling me around in his arms many times. "We're moving in!" I'm going to throw up. I wiggle my way out of his arms and make a straight run for the bathroom. I almost didn't hit the toliet.
"I'm sorry.." the frown in his voice becomes apparent, "I was just so... excited..." "No," I laugh uneasily, still bent over the bowl, "it's just. I miss them..." I choke back a sob. "Love," he walks into the bathroom, placing his hand on my back, "it's okay to miss them. It's understandable.." he kisses my neck lightly, sending shivers up and down my spine. What the heck? I turned around and noticed he was extremely close. His hand grazed my cheek lightly as he spoke. "Mel. I know, this isn't the time to say this but.." he pauses for a second, trying to gage my response, "I love you." "W-w-w-hat?" I barely manage to say. How could he love me? My life was never like his. He was always on the light and fluffy clouds, flying over all the tall buildings. Never the thunder cloud, ripping apart people, places, and just about anything. I was the rain on his sunny day, "J-just.. Get away." I didn't want to say that. I didn't mean it. "I'm sorry. I didn't mean that..." I walk over to the sink, brushing my teeth and removing the horrible stench oozing from between my lips. "It's okay if you don't love me," he puts his hand on the back of his neck and scratching it, "I mean, it's okay if you aren't ready for that." "Nick," I sigh slightly, "I can't think about this right now, okay?" "Yes, I'm sorry. Bad timing..." he mumbles more under his breath that I can't hear. I pull him forward until there's no space left. My lips are on his. A spark goes off in both of our heads as our kiss grows increasingly passionate. He cuts it off, pulling away slowly. "I wouldn't want you to do anything you might regret.." he pushes a stray piece of hair out of my face. So passionate and sweet. He's wonderful. I do love you.. Back to index
Chapter 13 by Guitarfreak8810
"I'm going to get my pjs from my car," he pauses to kiss my forehead, "Will you be okay without me?" I've been alone before haven't I? "Come back quickly..." I let go of his shirt and he gets up. When he runs down the stairs, a knocking comes at my door. "Come in" I say, turning my head to the door. "Hey," Joe and Kevin walk in together. "We're so sorry, Mel," Joe walks over and rubs my back. "How are you?" I just want Nick back. I flip onto my face, sobbing into my pillow. I hear Nick's rushing footsteps as he runs into the guest room to change. "We'll be here tonight for you, alright?" "Thank you," I barely manage to croak out. They leave the room which turns my attention to the guest room. The door flies open while Nick hastily throws on a clean white shirt, exposing his extremely toned muscles. He was wearing a pair of long dark blue plaid pants. He runs up to my bed and climbs in next to me. He puts his arm around me and pulls me closer to his body. "Did you miss me?" he laughs as he strokes my hair. "Yes! No more leaving," I frown. "Okay, okay," his eyes are glued onto me, "well it's not like I was going to leave anyway, Love." "Haha, sugar coated muffin top!" I peck his lips. Then he pauses, staring deeply into my eyes. "Uh, Mel? There's something I need to tell you," he says in a composed and serious tone.
"Yes?" I feel like my heart is going to fly out of my chest if it beats any faster. Maybe I should hold it down or something? He leans in and kisses me for a second, pulling away slowly. "But you don't know what you've got until it's gone," he wipes away a tear from my eyes. "And you don't know what it's like to feel so low," "And every time you smile, you laugh, you glow," he pulls me even closer, "You don't even know..." I cry into his shirt, falling asleep as he continues singing. -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------My eyes fly open randomly in the pre-dawn hours. "what? huh?" I mumble to myself before looking over at the clock. 4 AM. Ugh. I turn back and there he is. My guardian angel, holding my waist and fast asleep, looking over me. His face is within inches of mine. His curly hair is perfect and lies on the white fluffy pillow. I move closer to him and try to go back to sleep, nuzzling my face into his neck. I breathe in and out, in and out. Out of no where a small moan escapes from his mouth. Oops. I move back a little. I can even get him going in his sleep. Wow. My eyes close again and I'm lulled to sleep by the rythmic precision of Nick's breath. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"MEL!!!!" the entire bed starts shaking from Joe's weight. "What the hell, Joe?" Nick sits up with a fierce glowing in his eyes. Joe immediately stopped jumping and just stood there. "Er, sorry!" Joe goes back to bouncing up and down, "Mom told me to get you guys up because you guys have some stuff to do with her or something. And I was totally covering for you guys, no need to say thanks." "What are you talking about?" I eye him suspiciously. Then it hits me. "JOSEPH ADAM JONAS! ARE YOU SUGGESTING WHAT I THINK YOU'RE SUGGESTING?" I take the pillow out from under my head and whack him multiple times. "Maybeeeeee," he says childishly parading around my room. Enough is enough! I somehow manage to pull him down to the ground. I get up and stomp my foot victoriously in the center of his back. "I WI-" he grabs my other ankle and yanks it. We're ontop of each other when Kevin walks by and stops for a second. He obviously hasn't had his coffee yet so he just stares and then turns back to his zombie like motions. "Errrrr," Nick helps me off of the ground, "You okay, Love?" "Awwwwwww," Joe gets up on his own, ruffling Nick's hair, "LOOOOOOOOOOOVEEEEEE BIRDSSSSSSSS!" His arms flap in a horrifying attempt to make a bird. "Sicko," I push him out of the room and close the door, locking it. "You know!" Joe smacks the door, "now I'm suspicious! Why would you leave me out here?" I ignore him. Please goooo awayyyy, Joe. GOD.
"Hey," I throw my arms around Nick's neck. "Uhm," he stands there awkwardly, "What?" "I make you moan in your sleep? So what do you do when I'm around and you're awake?" His face turns bright pink as he lets himself out of the room. I win! Yay! I hop into the shower, quickly washing myself. I throw on some skinny jeans and an orange shirt. My life was basically a crayon. Sure there were other amazing colors in the box but I wasn't one of them. It's a shame though because unlike every other color in the box; being bright and beautiful, I was the burnt orange crayon. If you haven't noticed, no one uses the burnt orange crayon. Anyone who's ever looked at it in a crayon box simply passed over it, as if it was worth less than the other colors. In the coloring book of my life, there were many different shades of colors. Even though as a single color they were less than desireable, they were beautiful when mixed. When Nick came into my life, he was the sunny yellow crayon. When burnt orange and yellow mix, they make a beautiful color. I run down the stairs, praying that my shower wasn't too long. I didn't want Denise to think what Joe had thought. That would be. Awkward. "Hey!" she smiles in the kitchen, "I'm making pancakes, would you like any?" "Yes please!" I jump up and down, making a mad dash to the table. Nick isn't there yet, but Kevin, Joe, Mr. Jonas (I think he is Mr. Jonas?), and Frankie are all digging in on their pancakes. "Yo," Joe spits out half of the pancake in his mouth back out. "Uhm, hi," I pull up a chair next to Frankie, "What's your name?" "Frankie," he giggles a little.
"Hey, I'm Mel. It's awesome to meet you dude!" I put out my hand for a high five and he gives me one. The starting of a beautiful friendship. I didn't want to just assume his name was Frankie because then he'd think I was weird. Denise walks over to the table, gently setting down the pancakes in front of me. "Thank you," my words barely are audiable. "NICK!" Denise yells up the stairs, "IF YOU DON'T GET DOWN HERE, JOE WILL EAT ALL THE PANCAKES!" "Alright, I'm coming!" he yells back. This would be the starting of an interesting day.

Chapter 14 by Guitarfreak8810
I push my fork into my pancakes. "So you're Melanie?" Mr. Jonas asks as he looks up from his pancakes. "Uhm yes," I laugh, "You're Mr. Jonas." "You can call me Paul." "Cool." Nick comes running through the kitchen, seeming extremely out of breath. Everyone looks up from their pancakes. I bust my plate and put it in the dishwasher. I pick up the pans off of the stove, placing the pans in the sink to wash them.
"Oh Melanie!!" Denise jumps from her seat and rushes over, "No dear! You don't have to do those!!" "Its okay, just go sit and eat. I need something to keep my mind busy anyway." "Okay.." she walks back to her seat and returns to the pancakes. Scrub, scrub, scrub. Circle, circle, circle. Rinse. My robotic trance is interrupted by Nick's eyes looking me up and down. He immediately blushes and continues eating his pancakes. Joe, Kevin, Frankie and Paul run upstairs to take their morning showers. Denise scratches her head and adjusts her glasses so they are straight on her face. Nick is finishing his last pancake. "Do you have another shower?" Denise asks while she sips her coffee. "Uhm, yeah! In the basement, all the way down the hall on the right." "Thank you dear. Be ready in an hour. We'll meet you here," she moves quickly out of the kitchen. "Finally," Nick gets up and stretches, "Now I have you all to myself.." he approaches me. He wraps his arms around me. "Yay," I pull my arms out of the soapy water. He plops his plate into my open hands. I turn around and feel my jaw hit my chest. "Only kidding," he whispers. His words unleash a flurry of tingles up and down my body. "Don't think you're getting off the hook that easily," I push him over to the dish washer, "I'm not kissing you for the rest of the day."
"WHAT?" he almost drops his plate on the ground. Just as he yells it out, Kevin walks into the kitchen. "Sucks to be you, Nick!" he laughs. "Yep. I can kiss Kevin all I want to now," I kiss Kevin on the forehead. He blushes crazily. "Noooooooo!" Nick runs over and pulls me up to him. He trys to peck my lips quickly but I put my hand up. "Nuh uh, mister!!!" He makes an adorable pouty face. Kevin moves awkardly out of the room, trying not to squeak his wet feet on the tiles. He fails miserably. Nick kisses my neck lightly and then begins pressing harder and harder, moving with agression and force. I let out a moan when he hits the sweet part of my neck. "Nick?" Paul walks in the room completely shocked, "Can I talk to you please?" he looks over at me, "Alone?" I walk out of the room and sit by Kevin and Joe. "Busteddddd!" Joe laughs, "I never thought Nick would get in trouble.. He's too innocent.." "Innocent isn't the word for it.." I laugh to ease the tension. "Do you loveeeee himmmm?" Joe bats his eyes. I roll my eyes. Guys are ergh! "Ha! She does.." Kevin zones out and stares at the coffee table. That's when Nick falls into the room, tripping over himself.
"Yeah, I meant to do that." The entire room bursts into laughter. He gets up and sits between Kevin and I. "Did you have fun?" I whisper into his ear, making sure my breath touches his neck. "Do you enjoy teasing me?" he squirms a little bit. Kevin and Joe can't stop laughing. Denise's shoes click across the hard wood floors. "Alright, today we have to sell the house and get arrangements for... Melanie's parents. We'll go sell the house and come back to get Mel and whoever else you need," she glances at her watch, "Let's go Paul!" she waits for him and they walk out the door together. "What now?" Kevin asks as he plays with a curl. "I don't know.." I take Nick's hand and rub it absently, "Whatever you guys want to do is cool." I didn't realize until it was too late what I had just said. I completely regret it.

Chapter 15 by Guitarfreak8810
Kevin digs around in his messenger bag. Papers fly everywhere, books become scattered all over the floor, but eventually he pulls out what he was looking for. Saw IV. "NO!" I scream and almost run into the other room.
"You did say 'like whatever you guys want to do, omg'" he mocks in a girly voice. I don't sound like that at all? I don't say "like omg".... "I DO NOT SOUND LIKE THAT!" "Yeah, you kind of do, love," Nick laughs and kisses my forehead. "And your brothers can grow mustaches but you can't!" He frowns, "that was uncalled for!" Joe and Kevin are cracking up. "It's true Nick," Kevin can't pull himself together. Nick crosses his arms across his chest and sinks into the chair. "Awwww, I didn't mean it! It's not as hairy when I kiss you! That's why I never like them. No offense guys," I snuggle up to Nick and rest my head on his shoulder. "You don't like the 'stache?" Joe frowns, "I thought stubble was sexy..." he randomly pulls out Seventeen magazine. "Dude," I laugh, "you know that's a GIRL'S magazine." "Yeah but I wanted to know who the hottest guys were.." he rolls his eyes, "duh." "Uh huh," I can't help but giggle. "So, let's get to that movie!" Joe interupts my laughing. He's trying to get back at me! Don't mess with the bull, Joe Jonas, because you'll be sorry when you're gettin' the horns!!! "Can we not?" I play absent mindedly with Nick's curly hair.
"Nope, we're watching it," Kevin gets up and puts it in the DVD player. He finally gets the movie started. "Oh god," I lay down, settling my head in Nick's chest, "this is horrible!" "HORRIBLY AWESOME!" Joe is so weird. Then again, I'm not exactly NORMAL. "Will you come with me to the kitchen to get some snacks?" Nick smiles down at me. Who could deny a face like that? A wave of nausea hits me watching the blood and guts flying everywhere. "Yes! Of course!" I jump out of my seat and run to the kitchen. "Are you okay?" He walks in and wraps me in a hug. "Yeah, just a little, disgusted..." I sit down on the kitchen floor and put my head between my knees. He sits down on the tile floor next to me, wrapping his arms around my shoulders, "I'm sorry you don't feel good again..." "It's not your fault," I laugh a little, feeling my stomach doing flips, "You should get those animals something to eat. They might attack us!" "Okay, but I'll be right back!" He gets up and quickly raids the entire kitchen. He finds a bag of chips, oreos, and some soda. He runs out as fast as he can, returning in less than a minute. "That was fast..." I stare at the perfectly polished tile floors.
"Well, I couldn't just leave you here babe," he strokes my hair, "You're pretty even when you're sick." My stomach is still doing flips. "I think something is wrong." "What do you mean?" "Well.. I've never told anyone this but.. when something bad is about to happen to me I get really sick.." "Oh... Wow.. So you're like seeing the future?" "Minus the seeing part.." "Hm. I hope nothing bad happens to you," he kisses the back of my neck, "I don't know what I'd do without you..." "Neither do I..." SMASH! The tile is littered in glass and before I can say another word to Nick, I feel something being thrown over my head. "NICK!" a bloodcurtling scream escapes from my mouth, "NICK! NICK!" The person picks me up easily and hauls me out of the kitchen. The object covering my head is somewhat see through. I can make out Kevin and Joe standing up and staring at the person. "JOE! KEVIN! RUN!" I scream to them, waking them out of their trance. They make a mad dash out the front door before my lethargic attacker can get them. "Bad idea little missy," a hard hand hits the back of my neck as my eyes shut close, shutting down my entire body.

Chapter 16 by Guitarfreak8810
My eyes open very quickly. All I can see is darkness. In the center of the room there is a single light bulb. "Hello? HELLO?!" I scream nervously. "Mel? Is that you?" Kevin's hands touch my face, "Oh yeah, it is definitely you." "They got you too?" I frown. "Yeah, but I don't think they got Joe.. Nick isn't here which is starting to scare me.." he scoots closer to me in the darkness of the room. "Uh, Kevin?" "What?" "Isn't that Nick....?" A dark shrouded figure begins imerging from the corner of the room. "No," the shadow speaks, flicking on the lights. No. My father? What? "Hello Melanie," he smiles cooly at me, "is this your new boyfriend?"
I feel my mouth hanging open. I felt the words getting mingled in my mouth, "No he's not my boyfriend..." "Dammit," he laughs, "I thought he was the one with the curly hair?" "There's two with curly hair," Kevin rolls his eyes at the obvious. "Wow, failure as a criminal and a father," I laugh darkly, "Wonderful. What the hell is this about anyway?" "Well Melanie.. Your mother and I wanted to actually kidnap you and get rid of you. Permanently. You ruined our spotless reputation," he pulls a large shiny knife from his pocket, "and well, we're quiet sick of you. We've already got a replacement for you. She's very nice.." He points into the darkness and a girl who looks exactly like me walks out, "Sure, she's a robot, but at least she isn't a complete bitch like you." I can't believe the words that are falling out of my father's mouth. Kevin grabs my hand and squeezes it gently. A surge of energy flows through my body. It's a shame that my father was smart enough to tie up my feet and hands... "You monster," I spit at the ground. "Oh and your friend..." he hits a small green button by the lightswitch, causing the wall to flip and reveal another person. Nick. He's treading water in a small pool. It's enclosed in a clear glass case. I can see the bottom, his feet are anchored to it.. Oh god. My father is trying to drown him. I feel the tears falling from my eyes but I brush them quickly away using Kevin's shoulder. "MELANIE!" Nick calls out, "DON'T PICK ME! SAVE YOURSELF!" "Pick?" I look over to my father.
"Well, that's just it. You can save yourself... or your friend," he laughs evilly. "Huh?" I look behind me and the large box that's anchoring me to the ground. It's beeping happily, it's LCD screen displaying a countdown. 5:23. Why does this always happen to me? "Shit," Kevin mumbles darkly, "What are we going to do???" "Well, If we don't get to Nick in the next two minutes, we're all going to die." "I'll leave you here to solve your problem Melanie, but I don't expect you to live. I'll get some useless guard to watch you. JIM!" He opens the metal door, "No one leaves this room, understood?" The short and portly man nods. That's when it hits me. He was the police officer that visited my house.. "Okay Kevin, here's the plan..." I begin whispering into his ear. He gives me a 'you-are-crazy-and-that-will-never-work' look. "Are you crazy?" "If I wasn't crazy, then the probability of this working is very slim.."

Chapter 17 by Guitarfreak8810
"Alright Kevin!" I yelled out to him, "GO!" His leg hit the sea rope that was holding my hands together. The rope doesn't snap though. I feel the warmth of my blood soaking the coarse rope. "Try again!" I choke out.
He kicks it again. It snaps. "Alright," I get up and walk over to Nick, "You're going to be okay!" I kick the glass and it shatters the second my foot hits it. The water spills all over the floor and Nick is standing up, completely exhausted. He collapses onto the ground. "Thank you," he hugs me and drenches my clothes, "but I'm still stuck here..." he tries to move his leg but it's no use. "Kev!" I walk up behind him and drag him over to Nick. The bomb still ticks even after I drag it through the water. "Shoot. It's water proof..." "Mel, your dad is stupid, but not that stupid," Nick laughs and takes the bomb, throwing it at the ground. The back easily falls off revealing a jumble of cords. "WHICH ONE?!?!!" "The blue one," Kevin points to it. "Are you sure? Our lives are at stake here..." "Yeah. Joe says it all the time. He's a professional." "Okay..." I pick up the blue wire and bite it in half. The ticking stops. "Phew," Nick laughs awkwardly, "That was a close one..." "Mhm," I take the dead bomb and use it to try to break the chain. It breaks in a few strikes. "I love you," Nick wraps his arms around my shoulders. "Love you too."
"Uhm, guys?" Kevin is still tied up, "Can we uh get this rope off and I don't know... get away?" "Oh yeah, whoops," I untie the knot easily around Kevin's hands, "How will we get out?" Just then, a large grate cover falls from the ceiling, plopping loudly on the ground. A furry mess of hair pops out of the hole. "Oh, hey guys!" Joe extends his arms, "Alright, Mel first."

Chapter 18 by Guitarfreak8810
"- Nick's POV -
I couldn't believe it. Kevin messing with my girlfriend? Sure we're brothers but that doesn't mean we have to share everything. I hate to admit it, but I was jealous. I crawled down the vent, following Kevin and Joe. I turned around in the small space to see her lovely face. "Mel, what the hell was with that?" I whisper furiously at her. "I'm sorry, I was just trying to pull Kevin up..." her voice shrinks and cracks as the tears fall from her eyes. "Oh...." I wipe the tear away from her eye, "it's alright, I just wanted to make sure.. well yeah.."
"Of course," she laughs, "because you know I'd ditch you for your brother in two seconds," she rolls her eyes. Yeah I guess I'm pretty stupid.. Well whatever. All that matters is Mel. I look at her neck and notice a large gash on it. "What's that?" panic floods my voice as I move over to her and stop following Kevin and Joe. "It's nothing," she tries to cover it up and keeps moving. "No really," I pull her hand off the gash, "Oh my god.." It looked worse up close than it did far away. How did I not notice this before? "Come on guys," Kevin scoffs, "You can make out when we get home, I promise." I shoot a death glare at Kevin. Sometimes I wish he would just disappear. I mean, he was an awesome person, don't get me wrong, but he can get on my nerves. We continue crawling through the tiny confines of the vent. Dust bunnies hop happily out of our way. "Guys, I think I'm going to sneee-" Mel stops talking. "Please don't! Try to hold it in! We can't get caught now!" "Achoo!!!!!!!!" she screams. "What was that?" A man yells, "Hey Hank, check the on the prisioners!" Shoes scrape against the floor.
"Come on guys! Make a mad dash! We're really close to the car!" Joe starts scurrying quickly, "Here's the vent!" He kicks it out and jumps to the ground only a few feet below. Kevin jumps out next and I jump after. Mel gracefully falls into my waiting arms and run to the car. "GET THEM!" The same man yells out the door, pointing in our direction. Joe shoves the keys into the ignition. He turns them. The car hums happily then stops. "Shit, shit, shit!" he yells, trying the keys again, "Don't die on me now baby!" The car comes back to life as we pull out of the vacant parking lot. I feel Mel's head on my shoulder as Joe floors it, bringing the car up to 90 mph. "JOE!! Why are you going so fast?" I scream over the pounding wind pouring in through the open windows. He checks the rear view mirror, "Uh, that's why," he points behind us. Three black cars are following right on our tails. Just when I thought it couldn't get any worse, it did. This is worse than breaking up with Miley and let me tell you, that was not a pretty sight. Bang! Bang! Bang! "Dammit, what was that?" Kevin leans out the window. They fire more shots at the car. The back window shatters. "Get down!" I push Mel into the seat, lying on top of her. "Guys, we have to get to the hospital..." Kevin comes back in the window. His hand is pouring blood. The skin had been grazed by a bullet. "Joe! Hospital!"
"It's alright, calm down. I'm James Bond," he casually puts on his sun glasses, pulling onto the high way and flooring it right by the police station, "now we'll have the police following us!" "Joe, that wasn't smart.." Mel yells, "They're just going to arrest you for driving like a maniac." "Psh, we've got evidence right here," he points to Kevin's hand, "no way am I going to jail." As if on que the squad cars start following us. The sirens are blaring. Joe dangles out the window, attempting to make the men shoot again. They shoot with poor accuracy, blowing off the left side mirror. "You're paying for that!" He yells out the window, slamming on the breaks and turning the steering wheel around and around. We start spinning crazily. The car comes to a stop and the police are standing outside waiting. "GET OUT OF THE CAR WITH YOUR HANDS UP!" They yell. "Let's get this over with," I sit up and put my arms under Mel's light body. I lift her with extreme ease bridal style and walk out. Kevin is waving his bloody hand. "Hey," the guy on the megaphone pauses, "you guys are the Jonas Brothers right?" "Yeah... We need help!" Joe yells back, "Please!" A few men rush out to take Melanie out of my arms. They rush her over to a squad car. "Where'd the guys following us go?" "We couldn't catch them," the man quietly remarks, "Seargant Daly at your service. Can I have your autographs later? For my daughter."
"Sure..." I reply annoyed. After I've been abducted and almost killed, I was just dying to autograph things. Well, I guess when you're famous.. I hope Mel is okay. I never got a chance to.. I played anxiously with the diamond ring in my pocket.

Chapter 19 by Guitarfreak8810
Normal POVThey carried me over to the police car and all I could see was Nick's fleeting image. "What happened?" the police officer put me in the passenger seat and shut the door. He ran over to the other side of the car and hopped in. "My father isn't dead. He kidnapped us all, well except Joe, and tried to drown Nick. Kevin and I were strapped to a bomb.." "Are you alright?!" he looks nervously over at me. In a parental way, he was like the dad I never had. "Uh yeah I'm fine..." he pulls off the highway, stopping in the police headquarters' parking lot. "Come on, let's get that fixed... Want some coffee or something?" He changes the subject, "We have a lot of donuts. I just got some." "Water would be awesome," He gets out of the car, running over to let me out. Stupid child locks on police cars.
"Here let me carry you, you shouldn't be walking," he gestures down towards my leg. I never realized before right then that it was pouring blood. "Okay," I feel so queasy that I might just barf right then and there. "Yeah... I guess this wouldn't be the best time to tell you this but.. I'm your real father..." he pauses and looks me in the eyes as he carries me into the station. We did have striking similarities though. He had the same features as me. Well, roughly. "Why didn't you come and tell me when my 'parent's' left me?" He falls silent as we walk through the doors. He puts me down in a chair and rushes off to get something. I limp over to the phone on the secretary's desk. I dial Nick's numbers. "NICK?" I scream nervously into the phone. "Mel!" he seems caught off guard by my call, "are you okay???" "I'm fine. Don't worry. But I just found out.. My dad isn't my dad, " I felt the line go dead. "Mel," my dad starts to roll up my jeans, "come on we have to get this to stop." "Alright, bye Nick. Love you," I slammed the phone down on the receiver. "Who was that?" he asks curiously as he cleans off my leg.
"My boyfriend, Nick..." "Wait, the Jonas boy?" he wrinkles up his nose, "I don't like him." "Good for you. He's amazing and sweet. He's the most wonderful person I've ever met." He doesn't respond, wrapping my leg tightly in gauze. I wince. "Sorry," He looks up, "You need to see this," he pulls a piece of paper out of his pocket. My birth certificate? My parents never let me see this... At the bottom, his name was signed in a mad flurry alongside my 'mother's' name. "Wait, So my mom is my mom but you're my dad?" "Yeah, she divorced me right after she got pregnant with you. She was angry and confused. She told me to stay away from you. So I did. I loved your mother. I respecter her wishes.." "This doesn't make sense though. Why?" "I don't know. I think she divorced me because she met that other guy," he rolls his eyes and starts cleaning the gash on my neck. "Oh," I awkwardly sigh. "Don't move please. Just makes this harder," he furrows his brow, concentrating on the wound. Nick bursts through the doors of the station, "What's going on Mel?" "Errr Dad, this is Nick Jonas. Nick this is my Dad, Michael."
"Nice to meet you sir," he walks over to my Dad, shaking his hand and moving over to me, "I was so worried," he wraps his arms around me and kisses me on the cheek. My dad coughs in the background. "Uh, can I take her home?" Nick looks over at my father. "Well, I was thinking she might want to start living with her real dad but.. What do you want to do Melanie?" He looks over at me. Why did he have to use my full name? I couldn't pick between my father and Nick. I couldn't do it. What should I do?

Chapter 20 by Guitarfreak8810
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-==-=-=-=-=-=-=-="Uhm, how about we go out for pizza?" I try to avoid the topic. "Hm. Sounds good," my dad laughs. "Yeah, I could go for some food right now.." Nick pats his stomach. I put my ear up to it and it growls. "Sheesh I guess so," I laugh and kiss his nose.
Oops. "Melanie, We need to talk later." I sigh, "Okay. Well where to for the pizza?" "I dunno. I could drive us?" Nick suggests awkwardly. "No. I'm driving," my dad is extremely adamant about driving us. I guess since he's a police officer and he's seen how Joe can drive... You never know, it could rub off onto his brother or something.. He swipes his keys off the counter and walks out the front door of the station. I take Nick's hand, strolling to the car as slowly as we could. "Wow, what's with him?" "I guess he's not used to having a teenage girl around," I rubbed my thumb up and down on his hand. "I feel bad for him.. Especially not having a beautiful girl like you there.." he kisses my forehead. "Awwww my little charmer," he opens the door to my dad's cruiser and lets me in first. I get in after. "Hm," my dad turns on the radio. We almost fly out of the car. It starts blasting Green Day. "Wow," I laugh, "You seriously like Green Day?" "Yeah... Who doesn't?" I elbow Nick and he lets out a small whimper. "NICK! MY BOY," he screams, "YOU DON'T LIKE GREEN DAY?"
"They're a little too... how do I put it..." I see the invisible lazers shooting out of my dad's eyes. His favorite band is Green Day, like me. Well, the Jonas Brothers come second to Green Day, "too much swearing," he catches himself. "Understandable son," he laughs. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-==-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=We pull up in front of the small pizza joint. The ride there was great, aside from the evil looks my dad kept giving Nick everytime he was within five feet of me. It was okay, but I just wished I could at least hold hands with him. "Alright kiddos," he jumps out of the car and shuts his door. "Maybe he'll forget us," I hope... Nick lets out a small laugh, "Nah I don't think so." Sure enough, the door opens up and we're yanked apart. We walk up to the restaurant in awkward silence. It was really weird with my dad watching my every moves. I just wanted to hold his hand! Is that such a crime? We find a small booth. Where should I sit? Errrr. I sat next to my dad, just to be safe. I wink at Nick who seems to get the message. It's not like I was going to pick Nick over my dad right then and there. If I did, my dad would become extremely irritated with me. Not exactly the best way to treat your father. "Sooo.." my dad looks up from the menu, "What are you going to get?"
"I think I just want a salad. I don't know." "Do you want to split a pizza?" Nick asks my dad. "What do you want on it?" he lifts his eye brows. "I like cheese." "Alright," the waitress comes to take our orders, "Hey Shirley." "Hi Mike. Who's this?" "Shirley, this is my daughter Mel and her boyfriend," he rolls his eyes, "Nick." "Jonas?" "Yeah.." Nick twiddles his thumbs and looks down at the table. "What would you like?" she turns to me. "A salad and a coke would be awesome." "Yeah and Nick and I will have a cheese pizza. I'll take a diet coke." "Could I have a diet coke too please?" "Sure, It'll be right out," she winks at my father and leaves. "What was that?" "Oh that's my girlfriend, Shirley." "And you get mad at me for dating?" He blushes, "that's a completely different story."
"I beg to differ, sir," Nick looks directly at him, "Melanie means the entire world to me. She's the candle in the darkness of my life. I love her 110%." My dad is completely silent. What does this mean for Mel and Nick's relationship? Have they finally hit a sour note? Stay tuned for the next chapter! (Haha I needed to do that. Sorry)

Chapter 21 by Guitarfreak8810
swallow down my salad, trying to control my feelings. I mean, Nick had told me he loved me before but not around anyone older than us, especially parents. (Parental units more like - Well my old parents.) "Ahh, Thanks Dad," I kiss his cheek and laugh, "Mmmh I love you." "Love you too, Mel," he winks, leaving some money on the table. We get out of the booth. Nick grabs my hand almost immediately. "Hey," Nick whispers in my ear, "I love you tooooo." "Haha," my dad breaks us up, walking right between us. I let out a sigh. When would he ever accept the fact that Nick was my boyfriend? "Come on kids, let's blow this popsicle joint," he puts his hand on his gun and walks out the door. Nick and I follow right behind him. "So where to now?" He turns around to ask me. I immediately drop Nick's hand. I give him a frown but he seems to understand. He mouths to me, "do I get something later then?" "If you're good," I mouth back.
"I think I should go home," I sigh, "it's been a long day." "Yeah, I should go home too," Nick pats my head, "Could you drop me off at the station? I kind of need my car back.." "Not a problem-o Nick my man," he unlocks the cruiser and hops into the drivers seat. We slide into the back seats. It was really strange though, being separated by a sort of fence. Hm I don't really know? But it just didn't feel right. I felt like I was a criminal, like it was a crime to be with my amazing boyfriend, Nick. I stare out the window the entire time, watching the highway lights pass. The sun has already set on this hell-ish day. My parent's weren't my parents, they tried to kill me and my friends, we disarmed a bomb,we got into a car chase, my dad is apparently a police officer, and I wasn't even allowed to hold hands with Nick. Things just couldn't get any better. The cruiser comes to a stop. I didn't even realize we were at the station. "See you later, Mel," Nick winks as he gets out of the car. He'll probably drive around and then go back to the house after my dad has dropped me off. I don't think he knows the Jonas' are living in the same house. "Bye love!" I hop out and flip into the passenger seat. I was sick of being a criminal. I never want to go to jail. "What was that?" my dad starts grilling me. "What was what?" "The 'Bye love'?! You don't love him, you can't!"
"Why not?!" I feel my eyes tearing up as he moved the cars backwards. "I didn't mean to make you cry. I'm sorry," he looks concerned at me, "I mean, you guys are just teenagers. You aren't capable of love.." "What do you know about love! You left me! You left mom! You never loved her and you never loved me!" "Melanie, you know that's not what happened," he pulls into the driveway. "No dad, it is. You can stop lying about everything because I NEVER want to see you again! You're such an ass hole!" I jumped out the door before the car stopped, but landed on my feet correctly. I slammed the door closed. I can't believe I just did that. I walked into the front door. "Hey Melanie, how are you feeling?" Denise rushes away from her stir fried veggies to talk to me. I can't handle this right now. "I'm fine, I think I'm just going to bed." "Okay hunny," she hugs me and kisses my forehead. She was the mother I never had. That I never will have. Because I admit it. I screwed up.

Chapter 22 by Guitarfreak8810
I stomped up the stairs to my room.
I hate my life, I hate my life, I chanted to myself, pushing open the door to my room. Nick was laying on my bed staring at the ceiling. He was so cute when he was thinking! "Hey.." he looks up at me when I hover over the bed. "Hi," I move away and grab some pjs and a towel. I needed a shower. I walked over to the bathroom but Nick stood in the door way. "What?" I try to walk around him but he catches my waist. "Something's wrong?" "No," I push him out of the way and lock the door to the bathroom. "Mel," he talks to the door, "You know you can tell me anything right?" I ignore him and turn on the shower. I turn to look at myself in the mirror. My hair is a mess, like a large birds nest on the top of my head, my lip is a little swollen. It's like hell swallowed me and threw me back up. I wash myself and hop back out. Shortest shower ever. It just wasn't.... right? Something felt wrong. I threw on my pjs and opened the door up. Nick was still in my room, hanging out on my bed. “Hey,” I sit down lightly at the edge of my bed, “I’m sorry,” “It’s okay,” he tugs me over to him and wraps his arms around my body, “It’s been a long day, I know,” he kisses my forehead. “So, you’re not mad?” “How could I be mad at you?” “Aw, thanks Nick,” I kissed his nose, “but I feel awful.. I yelled at my dad.. and told him I never wanted to see him again...” the tears had finally been released. “Don’t worry, he’ll forgive you,” he touches my cheek lightly and brushes them away, “That’s what dad’s do. Besides, he couldn’t be angry at his only daughter forever.” I sniffled a bit, “I guess,” I snuggle closer to his perfectly toned body. “Mhhhh,” he kisses my nose and lets out a small laugh, “Oh and...” He gets up and walks out the door, going into his room. He returns a few
seconds later, sitting at the edge of my bed. “Melanie,” when does he ever use my first name? “I love you so much. After what we went through today, I realized how much you mean to me. You saved my life and I owe you,” he pulls a small box from behind his back and sets it on the bed in front of me. “Nick, I-” he cuts me off. “Please, take it. I want you to.” I tenderly picked it up off the bed. The box was made of nice black velvet. This wasn’t...? I opened it up. A diamond ring. “Nick,” I feel the tears falling from my eyes, “What are you saying?” “I want you to be mine forever, even if that isn’t possible until we get older. Please Melanie, will you marry me eventually?” I’m still crying as he puts the ring on my finger. I kiss him like I’ve never done before. “Yes.. YES!” “Hey Nick?” Joe walks in and stops abruptly when he sees the rock on my finger, “What’s that?” “Not what you think, Joseph,” I laugh and put my hand into Nick’s. “Yeah okay.. Mom needs you in the kitchen or something.” “Alright,” he gets up off the bed, “I’ll be back as soon as I can,” he smiles and walks out of the room. I GOTTA CALL ROXY!!!! “Hello?” she answers the phone darkly. My Chemical Romance is blasting in the background. “OMG OMG OMG! Nick just gave me a diamond ring!!! It’s soooo pretty!!!” “NO WAY!!!” She screeches. Kevin walks by my door and gives me a funny look. I hold up my hand with the ring glistening on it and he gives me a thumbs up with his bandaged hand. “WAY! Sooooooo. What’s up with you?” “Oh you know.. Thinking about Joe 24/7,” she laughs, “I heard he was the big hero today! Are you okay? Is Kevin’s hand okay?” “Yeah, we’re all fine,” I laugh, feeling weird that this horrible day hasn’t ended yet. Well it wasn’t all that horrible... now. “Oh awesome!” she laughs, “So you going to school tomorrow?”
“I haven’t even done my homework yet! You gotta be kidding me!” I start spazzing, “WHAT WILL I DO!” “Calm down, chica! The teachers will understand. Sheesh after a day like today, I would think they would give you A’s on all the assignments...” “Hah,” Nick walks back into the room, “Hey I gotta go! See ya!” “Bye!” I end the call and throw the house phone back on the hook. “Hey,” I say seductively and motion him to come over. “Hi,” he walks over and hops onto my bed. He stares at the ceiling. His mind must be in another place. “What’s up....?” I put my fingers through his curly hair. “My mom just doesn’t think it’s right that I gave you the ring. I stand behind it one hundred and ten percent though. They told me to take it back but I couldn’t do that to you. I’ve made a promise and I’m not going to break it.” “Oh,” I twirl a single curl around in my fingers, “I could wear it on a necklace chain.. that way it wouldn’t be visible but when the time was right I could just pull it out..” A smile creeps up on his face. “You would do that for me?” he turns to face me, “Hm. Good thing I didn’t ask that girl Tiffany out. I like you more.” “TIFFANY?!?!” I jump out of bed and stand up, “WHO’S THIS TIFFANY GIRL!!!! I’M GOING TO BEAT HER INTO THE GROUND!!!” “I was only kidding, sheesh,” he crawls across the bed and grabs my hips, pulling me back down. “You are so evil,” I smile, Looking at his face hovering over mine. “Mhm.. Being evil is fun,” he leans down and kisses my lips. I had missed the warmth of them ever since our last kiss. I felt incomplete without him.

Chapter 23 by Guitarfreak8810
My eyes zip open at 6:01 AM. My alarm never gets the chance to go off. It was just a fail safe if I forgot to actually get my butt out of bed. Nick's face was right next to mine, looking as smooth and handsome as ever. I tried to crawl out of my bed without waking him from his peaceful slumber. Too bad I didn't realize his arms were wrapped around my entire torso. "Grrrgh," he grumbles, pushing me away from him. Grumpy? "PUSHING ME AWAY!" I scream into his ear, bouncing on the bed, "IF YOU REALLY DON'T CARE THEN SAY IT TO MY FACE!!" "I'm asleep, but come back... I'm cold," he wiggles his fingers at me with his eyes still shut. "Nope, Gotta shower!" I run into the bathroom as quickly as I can, picking out random clothes while I walk by. I throw off my pjs in a rush and jump into the shower. Nicholas Jonas, lalala. His fans would be pretty angry if they found out about this... I towel off and throw on my clothes. I stepped out of the bathroom wearing dark blue skinny jeans, a tight dark red shirt, and just to top the look off, I threw on my white converse and a white scarf. "Oh Mr. Jonas," I giggled, staring at his perfect figure sprawled out across my bed. "Whaaaaaaa- HELLO!" he almost flies out of the bed when he sees me. "Ha, I can wake you up faster than your mom can. It must be the scarf," I twirled it around in my fingers as he approached me. "Yeah," he rolls his eyes, slipping the scarf off of my neck and putting it around his, "Oh I look hot." "That's what you think. You know, school is starting pretty soon.." I glanced over at the clock. It was 7:13 already.
"Wait, what?!" he looks over at the clock, "we're going to be late!!!" "Correction Mr. Jonas, YOU'LL be late. I'm right on time," I laugh and walk out of the room. I grabbed a granola bar from the kitchen quickly. I flew through the front door. I'm gonna beat him to schoooollll!!! -Nick's POVAnd she thinks I'M evil? Seriously, I would have actually woken her up if I got up. Then again, it is pretty hard to wake me up. Like I'd ever admit that to her. WHAT ABOUT MY PERFECT ATTENDANCE RECORD!!! OH CRAP!!! I bolted for my room, there was no way I was going to get a shower in. I threw on a plain white shirt and some skinny black pants. I can't be late!!! I ran into the bathroom, scrubbing my face and brushing my teeth before leaving the house. "Bye Mom!" I yelled, picking my books up off of the counter and swallowing two poptarts. "Bye Nicholas," she smiles as she flips some pancakes. Probably for Joe and Kevin who DIDN'T have to go to school. Then again, they didn't have perfect attendance.. I sprint out to my car, sliding in as fast as possible. This was going to be an awesome day. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-="HOW THE HE-" I cut her off mid swear. "It's because I'm the one and only Nick Jonas," I laugh as I put my arm around her. It felt so good to know she was mine forever. But what if she left me? Never. It could never happen to me. "Oh," she rolls her eyes, "Like I would forget.."
I kiss her lips passionately, pressing her against her locker. Some girls gave her the death glare. She had her eyes closed though. I was watching out for my girl, what can I say? "You know," I broke off the kiss, "You are going to get so many mean looks for being with me. I feel horrible," I frown. "It's okay," she plays with her scarf which is still around my neck, "I don't care, as long as I'm with you." "Which is too bad for you because you will never see him again!" I feel a heavy object come into contact with my back. That's when everything went black. - Mel's POV "NICK?!!!" I bent down and rubbed my arms over my boyfriend's motionless body. I felt his chest moving a little bit though, he'd be okay. "What the hell did you do that for, Jason?!" "Oh Melanie," He puts his arms around my waist, "I think you know." I pushed him off of me, "I don't think so. Nick is my fiancee!" Which was partially true but I honestly just needed him to go away. I had to help Nick! "NO," he barks, "YOU'RE MINE! NOT THAT JONAS KID'S!" He threw me over one shoulder, grasping the bat with his other hand. "PUT ME DOWN!!!! HELP!!! SOMEONE!!!! HELP!!!!" I screamed out to the crowd of people who were gathering around. I caught Roxy pushing through the crowd. "MEL!!!" she screamed out to me.
Just then, the door to the class room in front of Jason flies open, hitting him square in the face. Some random woman comes out with a yard stick. "Hmph," the teacher helps me up, "That's what you get when you mess with other students!!" "Thank you so much," I hugged her a little. "Not a problem, I'm Mrs. Cefan-" BANG! She falls to the ground, clutching her stomach which is turning dark red. Jason was on the ground looking up with a gun pointed right at my heart. What was I going to do?

Chapter 24 by Guitarfreak8810
I did the only thing I knew how to do. I slammed my big fat foot right down on his hand. He whimpered in pain, clutching his bloody hand. I grabbed the gun and gave it to a random teacher, shoving it right into his hands. I had to get to Nick. "Nick!" I kneel down by his body, kissing his pale face, "Oh god, oh god. I love you so much!" "Mel!" Roxy pushes her way through the huge crowd gathered around him, 911 has already been called because the ambulance is right outside the door. "Roxy," I hug her and feel the tears soaking her shirt, "Nick, I can't lose him. He's..." I pointed to my finger.
Everyone gasped. "Come on, let's drive to the hospital okay?" "Ok," I sigh, still wiping the tears away. She pushes through the crowd and gets us out the front door. I stop at my car and hop in, turning back to see the paramedics loading Nick into the ambulance. I turn on the car and set out for the drive. I rip out of the parking lot, gluing the gas pedal to the floor. "HOLY CRAP!" Roxy grips her seat as I go through the turns in the roads. "NICKkKKKK!!!" I scream. The sirens start going off behind us. Eh. Police. I pull off the road, anxiously tapping against the steering wheel. Tap, tap, tap. Come on man, I don't have all day! I need to go see Nick. "Excuse me Ma'am," a figure approaches the window. I recognize him. Dad. OOPS, "MELANIE! WHAT WERE YOU THINKING? YOU COULD HAVE KILLED SOMEONE!" "Uh," I point with my left hand, "I've got to get to the hospital like now. Bye bye." I knew I'd be in big trouble for this later. I hit the gas and left him standing there on the side of the road. All the color had drained from his face. "What's with him?" I asked, completely unaware of what just happened. "Hello? Earth to Mel. You've got a gigantic rock on your finger. I don't think anyone would notice that," she rolls her eyes.
"Oh. Right," I felt the ring get heavier on my finger as I pulled into the hospital parking lot, "Uhm, I'm going to go see him," I stopped the car and jumped out, almost falling flat on my face. Nick! Nick!!! I walked casually into the hospital's gliding glass doors, "Hi, Nick Jonas' room please?" "I've been informed not to allow anyone into his room." "Hello? I'm his girlfriend, Melanie," I pointed at my ring, "and his family knows I'm coming anyway.." Hopefully they did. "Oh, yes you're on the list, I'm sorry," her face turns to mush. "It's alright," I laugh, "which room?" "Well he's in the ER right now but you can wait in the waiting room right down the hall with the rest of the family," she points down the long hallway. "Thank you so much!" I run down the hallway, almost hitting three doctors and a few nurses. Dirty looks. Fun. "Ohhhh," I walk into the room. Kevin, Joe, Frankie, Denise and Paul are there already. "MEL!" They engulf me in a huge hug. "Are you alright???" Denise pushes some hair out of my eyes. "Yeah, fine," I lie. How could I be fine without Nick? Kevin comes up to me and hugs me, wrapping his arms around my body. I let out a huge sob and collapsed in his arms. He sat down in a chair, holding me close to his body. He was so nice. - Kevin's POV -
Poor Mel. She didn't deserve this. I stroked her hair, trying to calm her down. It was no use though. I wish Nick would just walk in here and make her frown turn upside down. That wasn't going to be happening soon though, so I had to help her. "Hey," I whisper into her ear, "How many times have you been to the zoo?" She let out a squeak, "What does that have to do with anything?" "How many times?" "Never.." she stops sobbing. Mission accomplished. "Let's go." "What?! NO!" she started sobbing again. I guess I spoke too soon. "It'll be okay. Don't worry..." - Mel's POV I looked around the room a little bit. Joe and Frankie were playing go fish or something like that. Denise and Paul were just sitting in a chair holding hands. I could just imagine Nick and I. Holding hands and raising our family together. But I wouldn't want to bring them here though. Never.. They help people but most of the time you have to be really sick to be here.. I bit my nails. "Jonas?" a small nurse said. Everyone stood up, "Your son is going to be just fine. He's just going to be released soon. The stitches are fine and he seems to be doing well. He might have some memory loss but we're not quite sure the extent of it."
"Oh," Denise grips Paul's hand tighter, "Could we see him?" "Sure. He's right in that room," she points across the hall. "Thank you so much," she smiles and walks into the room. I wanted to go in with her but she needed time with her son. Kevin put his arm around my shoulder, "Not to worry, your time will come.." I stand there awkwardly with Kevin's arm around me. It was weird that he would my eventual brother in law.. Honestly, I couldn't really imagine it. It was even harder for me to think of Joe as my brother in law. I get lost in my thoughts when I'm suddenly pulled into the small room. "Nick?" I ask as I walk in. "Oh my gosh," he pulls me towards him, kissing my neck, "Mel!!!!!! Are you okay??? I was so worried." "You're telling me!" I rested my head on his shoulders. "How bout we blow this popsicle joint?" Joe stands up from his chair in the corner. The entire family was watching us.. great. "Sounds like a plan, Danger," Nick laughs and waits for everyone else to walk out of the room and takes my hand gently. "So? How did you.. get rid of him??" He asks, drawing small circles with him thumb on my hand. "He shot a teacher with a gun... and then he pointed it at me.. But I stepped on his hand." "When I get my hands on him, I'll rip him to piec-" I kiss his lips softly.
"No need for that, he's probably not getting out of jail for a long time." "That's not good enough..." he grumbles and leads me out of the room. We walk out of the hospital, the clear as day glass doors slid open in front of us. Roxy was leaning up against my car, obviously flirting with Joe. "HEY YOU PUNKS! GET OFF MY CAR!!!" Roxy flies off the car. I can't help but crack up. "Oh my gosh!!!" I almost fall onto the hood of my car, "You should have seen your face. It was great." "Instant classic," I high five Joe and unlock the car, opening the passenger door to let Nick in first. "Where are you two going?" Joe asks. I close the door on Nick, walking around to the other side. "Have fun catching a ride home!" I laugh and hop into the car. I locked the doors. What an evil friend! "NOOOOO!!!!" Joe pounds on the windows. The car jumps to life and I zoom around the parking lot easily.

Chapter 25 by Guitarfreak8810
- Joe's POV Thanks Mel. She'd bought me more time with Roxy, considering the fact we'd have to walk home.
"Do you want me to go run to get my car at home?" I ask her. Please say no. "No, it's okay. It's not like I'm going anywhere anyways. There's no way I'm going back to school." "Yeah. I guess," I start walking down the sidewalk beside her. She was so pretty in the sunlight. Even though she wasn't my usual type of girl, I liked her a lot. Scratch that, it was more than a lot. She was so perfect. She wasn't like Taylor Swift or Camilla Belle. "So?" she looks over at me, smiling, "How's everything?" "Awesome, I just bought another potato gun! It's sooo sweet!!" I laugh, "Even though I can't shoot anyone with the potatoes... I use marsh mellows." "Wow. That's weird.." she looks down at the ground still grinning. She had something up her sleeve... "Is it really?" I looked over at her. She rolls her eyes, "Totally. Dude, no one owns those things... EXCEPT ME!!!" she pulls a small marsh mellow gun out of her purse. "You're cheating!!" I scream and run away from her. The marsh mellows pelt me in the back. Ow! Those things really hurt!!! "No, I'm just prepared," she laughed as she chased me down the road. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-==-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= "So, where are we really going?" Nick laughed. "I don't know. I didn't uhhh really plan it out..."
"Okay," he laughed, "Take a left here!" "Uhm okay!" I turned a sharp left, pulling up in front of... a zoo? What??? "The zoo?" "Yeah," he opened the door as I stopped the car, "Kevin told me. It'll be fun!!" "Alright," I pull out the keys and lock the door, circling around the car. It felt so good to be back in his arms. "Ahhh, I missed this," we approached the ticket gate. I looked overhead and caught a glimpse of the ticket prices. $80 for a ticket! What! "Nick! That's outrageous!!!" "What?" he whips out his wallet, asking for two tickets. "Y-y-you can't pay for me!" I push his wallet into his chest, rummaging in my pocket for mine. Only one problem. It was in my purse. In my car. "Well... Seems to me like someone forgot their wallet," Nick pays for the tickets. "Errrgh!!!" I yell in frustration and stomp my feet on the ground. Little kids with their parents give me strange looks. "So where were we when I last saw you this morning? Oh yes..." he leans into my face, kissing my lips gently. His lips feel so soft against mine. "Excuse me?" A man interrupted us, "Are you Nick Jonas?"
"Yeah," he sighs a little, not even taking his eyes off of mine. "Oh, my daughter wanted your signature... If that isn't too much to ask for," his eyes shift in between us. "Of course not," he turns to face the man and the small girl. "What's your name?" he bends down and takes her notebook gently. "T-t-t-tiffany" she barely manages to say. Wow I guess it wasn't just me that was left speechless by him. He scrawls something down so quickly and gives it back to her, kissing her tiny hand. She squeals, wrapping her arms around him, "THANK YOU!!!!!' "No problem," he gets out of her grasp and refocuses on me. "That was so sweet of you," I latch onto his arm. "Anything for my fans," he smiles. "So does that mean you'd dump me because of your fans?" "NOOOO!" He screams out in front of the monkey cages, causing them to chatter like crazy. "Way to go," I laugh. Suddenly, his cell phone starts blaring. He frowns, apologizing again. "Hello? Uh huh," he pauses. His face turns serious, "Okay we're coming home. Bye," he hangs up, grabbing my wrist a little too hard and dragging me out of the zoo. "What the hell was that about? What are you DOING?!" I scream at him.
"Keep your voice down.... we have to go.. shhhh..." he sneaks around my car and jumps into the driver's seat. I search for my keys in my pocket but I guess he already has them. I jump in and sit down. "Now can you tell me?" I ask impatiently. He floors it, driving faster than I've ever seen a normal person attempt to on a busy street like this one. "Okay, so Big Rob has been following us, making sure no one was following us. Well he just got jumped by a masked man.. So now we're vulnerable. I want you to be safe because I love you." "I love you too Nick..." I smile, thinking about all the fan girls who wished they could be me. Honestly, I wish I was me too...

Chapter 26 by Guitarfreak8810
The car ride back to the house was completely silent. All I could hear was the distinct purring of my car. "Okay.. I'm going to drop you off at the door.. just get inside okay?" "Kay," I loved how he was being so protective but at the same time, it was kind of a hassle. I popped open the car door and ran to the door, opening it up as fast as I could. I got inside and closed the door. Strange thing was.. nothing happened. No gun shots. No screams. Nothing.
Just silence. Nick walks in the door no less than a minute later. "I'm sorry, I just don't..." he wraps me in a hug. "I really hate it when people don't finish their sentences," I remark half annoyed. My mom used to do it all the time.. It made me want to pull my hair out and then have it surgically put back in. "I don't ever want to lose you," he wrapped me tighter, causing my head to go closer into his chest. We stood there hugging for a long time. It was great. "Nick! Melanie!" Denise walks up to us and hugs us, "You're okay! I was so worried!" "Yeah yeah," I laugh, trying to escape the hug. "Well.. Big Rob will be okay, he's at the hospital, but he won't be back for a few days. You guys need to be careful okay?" "Alright mom," Nick kisses her cheek and takes my hand. He pulls me over to the couch. He lays down, wiggling his fingers, "Come here you," he smiles. I lay down right on top of him and feeling his heart beat accelerate. That was always a good sign. "My dad. Found out about the ring..." I put my head onto his chest, focusing harder on the hypnotizing rhythm of his heart. "What ring?" he looks completely confused at me. "What do you mean 'what ring?!?!'" I push off of him and get off the couch.
"Melanie, what are you talking about?" he tries to grab my wrist but misses by a few inches. "You... Don't remember?" I feel the tears coming out of my eyes. "Remember what?" "Never mind.. I guess it meant nothing to you.." I ran up the stairs, slamming the door of my room behind me. "Mel," he taps on my door, "Please, let's just talk.." I chuck a random cd at the door that was on my nightside table. It shatters into small flecks onto the carpet. He just sighs and walks away. Thanks Nick. Thanks. - Nick's POV I don't understand! What ring?! I never gave her a ring.. Or did I? I walk over to Kevin's room, letting out a small sigh. "Hey Kev?" I knock and open the door a smidge. He's just sitting on his bed, playing guitar. The usual. "What's up Nick?" he doesn't look up. "Did I give Mel a ring or something?" He stops playing, looking up, "Yeah. That diamond one. You basically proposed to her." "What?!" I almost collapsed on the floor, "How could I forget that?!"
"Well.. You got hit in the back of the head by that Jason kid.. The doctors said you might have some memory loss..." "Memory loss?.." No. This wasn't happening to me. "Yeah.. Are you alright?" "I'm fine. Yeah," I pound my fist against the door frame. Our relationship was ruined because of my stupid memory loss. Because of Jason. It was all his fault. When I see him... I cringed at just the thought of him. He deserved so much worse. Jail? that wasn't good enough...

Chapter 27 by Guitarfreak8810
- Nick's POV How could I forget something so important? I tapped my foot lightly against the wall. It left a small dark scratch on it's white paint. That little scratch on it's otherwise perfect surface. It could be fixed though. She would forgive me. It's not my fault. "Melanie?" I poke her door open a little bit, sticking my head in to check up on her. She looks up from her notebook, "Yes?"
I walk over to her bed. Left, right, left.. I would look like a complete idiot if I tripped. "Uh... I don't know how to.." I can't say anymore. Her lips cut my sentence off. "I'm sorry," she breaks off the kiss, "I didn't... I didn't think of... what you've been through." "It's my fault," I stroke her forehead, "for forgetting the most important moment of my life so far." "It wasn't THAT important," she rolls her eyes, "Promising to marry someone when you get older. Yeah, that's like nothing." I frown a little, unsure of her seriousness. "I want cookies.. I have the worst craving for gingerbread.. oh my god!" she shoves me out of the way so she can get to the door way. I reach for her arm and catch it, for once. "Buttttttt," I drag it out in a sad attempt to keep her in the room. I want her all to myself. What can I say? I'm pretty selfish when it comes to someone I love. "No butt's! Sicko!" she manages to twist her hand out of my grip. She runs out of the room, screaming something crazily. I catch up to her on the stairs, following her right down into the kitchen. "So, are you making these or are we going to use that tube thing?" She looks at me like I'm crazy. "Home made are always the best, Nick," she winks at me. This could be fun!
"I like my cookies extra sweet," I pull her right into me, just far enough away so I could clearly see her eyes. "Nope, diabetes!" she frowns at me, probably being sympathetic. Everyone was overly nice to me when they found out I had diabetes. It was a problem, but I was going to beat it. "Awwww.." I kiss her a lightly, "Well since I'm diabetic I really shouldn't be kissing your sweet lips..." I leaned in again, touching her lips even softer. "Two can play at that game!" she rummages around in her pockets for something. After a few seconds of searching she produces lip gloss, "Ohhh Nick.. Strawberry.. Isn't that your favorite?" She painstakingly slowly puts it on her luscious lips. I won't give in! I won't.. I won't give... My lips are glued to hers. Ahhh! So tasty! I push my lips against hers harder. I keep pushing. Eventually, I have her against the kitchen wall. "Oh," Kevin walks in, staring at us. I don't really care anymore. She was going to marry me so he was going to have to get used to it, "What's for dinner?" "I dunno," I mumble, slightly annoyed at Kevin's prescense. It was like he had this all planned out! "Sorry," he rolls his eyes, opening up the fridge. The least he could have done was left us alone, "Oh hey, what are you guys making?" "Nothing at all," I smile and rub my nose against Mel's. "Melanie!" My mom yells, "Could I see you for a minute alone please?" "Yeah Mrs. J!" she giggles, "Be back soon cutie." "Alright," I put one of my arms down, letting her escape from the wall. I turned around leaning up against it.
- End Nick's POV =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-==-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-==-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= - Mel's POV"No!" I can't help but laugh at Denise, "It's not like that!" "Well. I just wanted to make sure. I didn't think that Nick would break any of my rules anyway.." "is it okay for me to wear the ring he gave me?" I turn serious, "I mean, I don't want to offend you in any way." "It was okay with me in the first place," she smiles, "Paul didn't want you guys making such a commitment to each other at such a young age, but I can tell you are both in love with each other.." "Oh," I blush a little. "Are you being safe?!" She asks like my mother. "Nick hasn't broken any of your rules yet, if that's what you mean." "I see," she looks around, "That's all I wanted to know." "Okay. Can I uhhh go now?" So very awkward. "Sure." "Oh and Kevin wanted to know what's for dinner." "I didn't really feel like making anything. We're probably going to get a pizza or something. Order out." "Kay," I turn around and walk out of the empty room.

Chapter 28 by Guitarfreak8810
"Nick?" I walk into the kitchen, "Any reason why your mom just attempted to give me 'the talk'?" "I don't know.." he puts his hands on my hips, "maybe it's because I love you this much!" he takes his hands off of his hips. He extends his hands as far as they can go. "Wow, that's not lame or anything," I push past him and grab the cookie mix. "You're lame," he smiles and walks over to me. "Okay," I kiss his cheek, "no cookies for you. These are for Kevin! Yo Kev! Come in here!" Kevin walks into the room, smiling a little at me. "Hey Mel, what's up?" "I just wanted to make some cookies for you." "Mhhmm cookies," he stands behind Nick. I wink at Kevin. Thank god he was getting the drift. "But I want cookies!!!" Nick pouts a little as I mix the ingredients together in a bowl. "Toooo badddd," Kevin grins happily, "They're aaaallllllll miiiineeeeeeee."
"THAT'S NOT FAIR!!!!! I WANT SOME TOO!!!!" "They're M-I-N-E. Mel's making them for M-E." "I thought you were my brother!" he hits the back of Kevin's head. "What was that for?" Kevin sobs. "For siding with the," Nick pauses dramatically, "enemy!" I throw the entire bowl of ingredients at Nick. (Hehe) The goopy mixture drips down his face and all down his nice plaid shirt. I guess that one's ruined! "My cookies!" Kevin rings out Nick's shirt, in a pathetic attempt to catch the batter. Nick wraps his arms around my body and transfers the goopy liquid onto my shirt, "You know I love you soooo much!" "Ew ew ew!!!" I push him away, he smiles, "Jerk!" "Hey! You're the one who wanted to make cookies! And now you've got 'em." I pout a little and walk out of the kitchen. I run up the stairs, taking my shirt off at the same time. Whoops! Joe's standing there, staring. "Uhhhh.. Sorry!" I push past him, going into my room and closing the door behind me. How awkward. "I thought you liked Nick!" He laughs and hops down the stairs, "This'll be good!"
"JOEEEE!!!" I struggle and try to put my shirt on. I shove my head into the first hole I can find. Too bad it's the arm hole. I fumble with the shirt in a horrible manner, trying to fix it. "Hey Nick! Guess what your girlfriend just did!" He screams at me, taunting me furthermore. NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!! It was an accident!!!!!!!!! AHHHHHH!!!!

Chapter 29 by Guitarfreak8810
"Oh my god!" I ran down stairs, gasping for air. "What?" The boys are all laying on the couch. "Damn you, Joe," I laugh and collapse onto Nick's lap. Nick raises an eyebrow, "Do I even want to know?" "Nah, probably not," Joe laughs. Phew. "Well. Nooooow what? Since you fail at making cookiess..." Kevin rolls his eyes. "I know, I know. Maybe we should just. Relax. Chill out..." "Sounds good with me," Nick pulls me closer. "Hmmm," I snuggle up to his chest, listening to the pulsating of his heart.
"Oh ew!" Joe jumps up, "No way am I hanging with snuggly buggly kissy goo goo over here." "Same here, I'm out. I'll be.. upstairs playing guitar.. if needed." "Alright guys, bye," I laugh a little. We wait for them to leave. "So," Nick whispers, "It's just me and you..." "OMG! My cousins!" I flip out, "They're coming tonight!!" "What? What cousins?" He looks confused. "My cousins! Staci and Adam! Uhhh Staci is 17 and Adam is 16." "Awesome, A guy my age to hang out with." "No... that's not a good thing... He's a... how do I put it. Trouble maker." "Oh," He laughs a little, "I'll keep him in line, don't you worry babe." Ding dong. "Oh god they're here!" I swung the door open, pushing Nick out of the picture. Staci was a big Nick fan. "MEL!!!!!!" She attacked me with a hug. Adam just stood there laughing. "Hey guys... I have something to sort of tell you... Well... I kind of live with..."
"NICK JONAS!!!!!!!!!!!!" She flips out, pushing me away to get to him. She kisses him right on the lips. He doesn't really react. He was too nice to push her away, I understood, but he wasn't kissing her back. "Hi...?" He moves over towards me, putting his arm on my waist, "Oh you're the cousins?" "Yeah," Staci blushes. "Nice to meet you. Adam right?" he extends his hand not on my hips to Adam. They shake hands. "I don't like you," Adam pushes around us and walks into the house. He sits down on the couch and turns on the tv. "Can't win 'em all right?" I whisper in his ear. "He'll come around.." he leans in and kisses me passionately. We kind of forgot about Staci standing there. "WHOA ARE YOU GUYS A THINGGGG?!?!" the color completely drains from her face. I point to the ring. Problem solved. "O-M-J!!!!!!!!" "Uhm, sure, whatever you say. Joe, Kev, everyone! Come meet the cousins!" Joe and Kevin walk down the stairs, Denise and Paul walk out of the office together and Frankie is following Joe and Kevin. "Hey, I'm sorry I didn't tell you before they came.." I apologize to Denise. It slipped my mind. Too many things going on at once! "It was on the calendar. In your Dad's office..."
I shudder a little at the thought of my dad. "Well, why don't we just watch a movie together?" Nick suggests, pushing his toes into the carpet. "Good idea Nicholas!" I giggled at the use of his first name. It's not like anyone ever calls him Nicholas.. I mean, last I checked, they called him Nick. Oh well. Parents are parents. We all gather around Adam. We all decided to watch WALL-E. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-==-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= "AWWWWWWW!!! Robot love!!!!" I yell out, grabbing Nick's hand. "Awwwwwwwwww," Joe wraps Adam in a hug. "AWWWWWWWW!" "Could you please stop?!?!" Adam cracks a laugh. "Ha I knew you'd like them," I smile and put my face into Nick's shirt. He just smells so darn good. I can't get over it!!! "Pfftttt," He folds his arms angrily over his chest. Before I know it, my eyes are completely closed. I fall into a deep slumber on Nick's shoulder. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-==-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= "Hey," Nick's whisper wakes me up. "Hey what?" I stir a little. I realize I'm in my bed and under the covers.
"Heyyyy youuuuu!" he laughs a little, "You know what mom told me?" "What?" "Well.. Since every time we go to school something HORRIBLE happens then we're going to be home schooled for the rest of the year. Then we can go back next year, if it's safer." "Oh... okay. So I get to sleep in?" He kisses my forehead, "Yes." "Awesome!! Now I'll never have to shut my eyes!!!" "Don't go overboard princess," he smiles. "Kay! Good night lovely!" Then my eyes closed. My life was awesome.

Chapter 30 by Guitarfreak8810
The sun shines brilliantly through the clear windows of my room. My eyes flutter open and I wake up to Nick just staring at me. "What is it now stalker boy?" "Oh, is that what I am?" he whispers seductively. "Last I checked..." He shoves me playfully, "Jerk!"
"What does that make you then?" "A non jerk," he kisses my lips gently. Waking up to this everyday would be a snap. "Hm, Well what's on the agenda today? Hopefully no car chases, crazy parents, or strange cousins.." "I can't guarentee the last one..." "Yeah.. Where are they sleeping anyway?" "I let Adam have my room. My mom thinks that I'm there too.. shhh it's our little secret." "Well in about five minutes she's going to come in here... it's almost 11.." "Oh!" He jumps off the bed, "God what if?" Knock. "Get out!" I whisper to him, opening up the window. I push him out. I know it sounds bad that I pushed him out the window. NOT LIKE THAT. The roof to the sunroom (which no one EVER uses) extended out. In reality, he fell two feet. Big deal. "Uhm, come in," I yell. The door swings open, revealing Mr. Jonas. "Oh heyyy Mr. Jayyy," I reply calmly, looking at my appearance in the mirror. C-r-a-p.
I had a huge hickey on my neck. I guess I'll kill Nick for it later. I quickly pull my hair out of the sloppy ponytail and put it over the mark. "Hello Melanie," he smiles, "I was just in here to wake you up. I thought Nick would have gotten you up by now." "Oh no Mr. Jonas, he respects my sleeping habits," I roll my eyes. Yeah right. "Well, just come down to the kitchen for breakfast. Denise made waffles!" He laughs and adjusts his glasses before leaving the room and closing the door. I hop into the shower. There was zero hope for hiding this one.. I scrubbed it a little. Maybe it was just dirt? Nope. Rats. I hopped out of the shower, toweling off and throwing clothes on hastily. A scarf... that's what would hide it.. I threw on my white avaitor scarf over my black tight shirt. It looked okay. It wasn't like I needed to be super dressed up. My dark skinny jeans complemented the outfit pretty well. I ran out of the door and slipped on my cross word puzzle converse. Falling down the stairs, I made it to the kitchen where everyone was all gathered around the table. It looked like a perfect painting of a family. They smiled when they saw me.
"Come on, Mel," Nick wiggles his index finger at me. I almost fall over my own feet because I'm in such a rush. Breakfast went by pretty normally. Nothing really interesting happened. "Oh and by the way boys," Denise scrubs some of the plates in the sink, "you have an interview at 8 okay?" "Alright Mom," they answer in a perfect harmonized note. It causes everyone to crack up.

Chapter 31 by Guitarfreak8810
We walk together completely silent. Our fingers intertwined in one anothers. It was so nice that the cat was finally out of the bag. "You did so well in there, love," he coos in my ear. "You weren't so bad yourself." He playfully pushes me. I stop walking and throw him against the brick wall in the alley. "Bad Nick!" He slips out from under my grasp, pinning me against the wall. "I like being bad," he kisses my neck. "Guys! Come on! Can we go out for dinner now?"
Nick mumbles something under his breath before following Kevin's command. We got into the back of Kevin's car. "Hm, so where do you guys wanna go?" Joe twiddles his thumbs while he's sitting in the passenger seat. "Where ever," I smile, "As long as I'm with you," I whisper to Nick. The goofiest smile spreads across his face. Kevin and Joe start cracking up. I guess I'm not that good at whispering. "Awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww," Kevin starts the car and throws it into reverse. "I guess we should go to TACO BELL!!!" Joe turns up the radio. No one will be able to protest. What an evil child! The rest of the car ride is blaring music, bouncing Kevin's car up and down. We came to a stop sign, still blaring music. The elderly man in the car next to us was staring at Joe. Joe winked at the guy. How embarrassing. Never go with the Jonas boys on a road trip. Ever. Well we pulled up to Taco Bell. "Uhhh hey, can I make a withdrawl?" Joe yells at the small box to the person on the other line. "Sir? This is Taco Bell. We don't do withdrawls." "WHAT! WHAT DO YOU MEAN YOU DON'T!"
There's a little bit of stuttering on the other side, "Uhhh-h-uh-uh calm down sir, how may I help you?" "I WANT TO MAKE A WITHDRAWL!" "I'm sorry-" "DON'T TELL ME YOU'RE SORRY! UGH!" we're all about to explode from laughter, "I'LL HAVE A BURRITO SUPREME OKAY?! GOSH!" "What would you like to drink with that?" "PEPSI!" "Anything else?" "Duh," he rolls his eyes and leans back in his seat. By the time we're all done ordering, we've racked up a $50 bill. You'd think it's impossible, but...
with the Jonas brothers, anything is possible!

Chapter 32 by Guitarfreak8810
Okay, that was awesome!" I giggle. Joe belches loudly in the front seat. "Excuuuuse me!!!" he screams out the window.
By this time, the sun had completely set. It was dark outside. The street lamps were all broken; their light bulbs completely dull. SCREECH! Kevin flips the wheel crazily, moving out of the way of an oncoming car. But it was too late. You know how people say that they know they are going to die because their life flashes ahead of them? That's what happened. I saw everything. The past, the present, and the future. But it all was filled with Nick. He's the one. The metal body of the car caves in around our bodies. We're nearly squished to a pulp. We were oranges just sitting in the juicer. "You guys okay?" Kevin whispers. "Yes," I reply first. "uh yeah," Joe replies second. Then we wait. "Nicholas?" I ask worriedly. This isn't happening. Not again. "What?" he rubs his forehead. When he pulls back his palm all I can see is it's covered in blood.
"Oh god," I pull off my scarf and tie it around his head. It would stop the bleeding, in theory. Rain started to thud loudly on the car. It went though the car though. It took a few seconds to comprehend what was going on. A light thud and there was the answer, sitting in the seat between Nick and I. A bullet. "Get down!" Joe yells at us, flinging his door open heroically. "Joseph! No!" Kevin screams. The bullets stop. I can barely hear Joe's voice. Nick's moans are growing louder and louder with every passing second. "Shhhh," I whisper in his ear, "it's okay. Don't panic.." "I just got shot! What do you think I'm going to do, sit here and smile?!" "Nick I-" "Just leave me alone! I hate you!" "Are you telling me the truth?" I feel tears coming from my eyes. They sting like broken shards of glass. Cutting my flesh, pouring out red ooze, the pain doesn't stop. "Nick just shut up," Kevin growls at him. "Good bye," I unbuckle my seat belt and shove the car door open. "Mel, no wait," I slam the door in Nick's face. Jerk.
He was the same jerk I met in that stupid math class. The same jerk that I tutored. The same jerk that held my hand. The same jerk that saved my life. He's not the jerk. I am.

Chapter 33 by Guitarfreak8810
The rain fell from the heavens. It splatters against my already wet face. I stomp angrily away from the car. The dark road glistened in Kevin's headlights. The entire bumper of the car was rammed up into the engine. We're going no where fast. How can you drive a car without an engine? I knew I wasn't going to push it in the rain. I pulled out my phone. No service? The one time I actually need it. Piece of crap phone! What about Joe? I stop in my tracks and run around the front of the car, catching Kevin's eye. He seems annoyed but I don't really understand why. Kevin's emotions were too clouded by the invisible fog thrown over our eyes. I made it all the way to the other side of the banged up SUV, and my eyes darted towards the ground. "Joe? Joe?" I said as I peered through the rain. But there was just sheer darkness.
I pounded on the passenger's window of the car. Kevin zoned back in from the loud noises and moved quickly Kevin found a hat on the floor. He put it against the window and punched it. The glass buckled and shattered. I covered my face just in time. He shrugged a little, "This car is a piece of junk now. Doesn't matter." "Where'd they take Joe?!" I wiped some of the water off of my face. Joe wouldn't just crawl away on his own. He would have gotten back into the car... "Who's they?" I grumble a little. Wasn't it obvious that this entire thing was set up? "Oh," he catches on, "Nevermind." Nick's groaning in the back increases a little but it's mixed in with.. Sobs? I could only hear it a little over the roar of the rain. Poor thing. I pick up a piece of spiky glass off of the ground. My eyes fill with hatred while I stare off into the darkness. "Where are you going?!" Kevin screams at me over the pouring rain. It's pounding right through my skull. The ticking bomb had just started. And it was going to go off. I walk like a predator stalking it's prey off into the utter darkness of the night. The stars and moon obscured by the clouds. I just keep walking and walking. That's when I see..
Two black SUV's. No headlights. No taillights. Nothing. I approach the one closest to me and punch through the driver's side window. My fist pulsates from the impact with the glass. It shatters after a few more blows. What the? There's no way. It's impossible. Does "gone for good" mean anything to people these days! Last I checked that meant they weren't coming back for me. Or were they?

Chapter 34 by Guitarfreak8810
- Nick's POV She slammed the door right in my face. Does that mean what I think it means? She was gone. By this time they had probably killed her too, just like Joe. I knew Joe was dead. All the gun shots? There was no way he would be able to survive that.
I can't believe I told her I hated her. I clutched my stomach, pressing against it to try to stop the bleeding from the gun shot. She must hate me. Stupid gun shot. Wait a second. If I got shot...? Wasn't this JUST a car accident? And she got out of the car.... Oh god. Someone else is out there. I moaned loudly, pressing my face into the seat to keep it somewhat quiet. Kevin was pretty angry at me for screwing up the best relationship with a girl that I've ever had. Not to mention that we were going to get married in a short time.. I had it all planned out. The wedding of her dreams. Of course, she never said anything, but I knew what she wanted. She wanted something simple yet elegant. A long and flowing white dress that showed off her true beauty.. I was going to send her to go shopping with Denise tomorrow to pick one out but I don't think that's happening. I loved her. Who was I kidding? I love her. Smash! Kevin's passenger window collapses and shards of glass fly out the window. There she was, standing right there. I screamed out her name in my head, it just didn't make it to my mouth. I groaned loudly, trying desperately to say her name. To tell her that we weren't the only ones here. But by the time I got her name out of my mouth, it was too late. She was gone.
=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-==-=-=-=-=-=-=-= - Mel's POV "What the hell?" I stared at Jason. He was behind this all. The stupid crash. Everything. "Think they'd keep me in prision forever?" he smirked, snapping his fingers, "This is so much easier because that stupid little slime ball of a boyfriend you have isn't here." Four large men piled out of the car, with a woman standing behind them. She looked familiar. "R-R-R-oxy?" I almost collapsed in on myself. She was in on this too? She flashed her sparkly white teeth at me, "Well hello Mel. Did you think just because I was your friend that I would ditch my own boyfriend?" "What?" I look back and forth between Jason and Roxy. No freaking way! How was I so stupid! "Don't worry, these guys will treat you nice," she grinned and pointed at me. They ran up to me but I wasn't about to put up a fight. "NO!" someone screamed out from the darkness. "DON'T!" I yelled back. It was obvious who it was. The steps were uneven, scratching against the wet pavement. "NO!" He screamed again, throwing his arms around me. Nick.
The warmth from the blood on him soaked through my clothes. He was so stupid! God! Why didn't he just stay with Kevin! Jason ground his teeth against each other, "KILL HIM!" The men immediately changed course, running right after Nick. "Go you idiot," I turned towards him and kissed his lips, pushing him away from me, "JUST GO!" He ran to the right, crossing the two laned road and running into the forest. "If he doesn't die from the wound, he'll die from being stranded out there," Jason snaps again and his men grab my arms roughly. They carry me over to the car, throwing me into the back seat. They handcuffed my arms and legs together so I couldn't move.. Then out of nowhere an ambulance roars by us. "THIS IS NOT HAPPENING!" Jason screams and pulls into the wrong lane of the highway. His foot is glued to the accelerator. Wails of sirens and flashing lights light up the sky behind the car. I turn my head a little to watch it dissappear in the pouring rain.

Chapter 35 by Guitarfreak8810
"God, could you slow down?" Roxy rolls her eyes at Jason. He angrily hits the windshield wipers. They flick back and forth as fast as possible.
"SHUT UP YOU STUPID BITCH!" He slammed on the brakes, sending the car into a scary skid. He quickly regained control of the car. "So that's how you treat your girlfriend?" I giggle a little, "Wonderful relationship." He then hits the brakes harshly again, but this time, we're not sent into a skid. The car rocks to a hault in the middle of the road. "Get out," he growls at her. "What? I thought... I thought... You loved me?" She begins to break down in the seat. Tears roll down her cheeks. For almost half a second, I feel bad. Even though she was a jerk for betraying me like this, she was a nice person. Then again, you can never tell if she's acting or not. "I did," Joe mumbles from behind me. Until that second, I didn't even notice he was behind me. It was kind of weird. "Joe," she whispers, "I'm so sorry." "GET OUT!" Jason yells at her. She slowly reaches for the door handle, prolonging the moment. It was almost like she wanted to stay with us. Maybe she did have a heart. She pushed the door open as slowly as she could.
Jason thrust his arms at her, throwing her out of the car like a rag doll. She landed on the pavement, her entire body sliding over it, leaving a trail of blood behind. She didn't move for a few seconds. Then out of no where she gained the strength to look up. Her face looked like it just rubbed up against a cheese grater. I think the cheese grater won... Her perfect face was ruined. And just like that, Jason reached across his car and pulled the door closed. He threw it into drive and rushed away from her. "God," he mumbles under his breath, turning on the CD player. "THRILLER!!!!!!!!!!" It blasts. He takes his hands off of the steering wheel and attempts to dance along. It wasn't even any good. I looked back at Joe. I mouthed to him, "This is weird." He just stares at me, "No kidding," he replies back. Well. This is fun? Jason is just blasting Michael Jackson and we're going 120 mph down a two laned straight road. Totally normal. I leaned forward on the squishy seat as far as I could. I pushed my head onto his shoulder. "Hmmm?" Jason turns down MJ and looks into my eyes. "Well, since Nick's not here..." I plastered on my fake smile. I was so used to it by now. It was like I was talking to my parents all over again.
"I like that," he grinned. Either this is going to get us into more trouble or it's going to help us out of this mess. Good for Joe, bad for Mel. Oh well. At least it gives Joe more of a chance of surviving. No one loved me anyway. Nothing mattered. In the back of my mind, my thoughts are screaming at me to just bite Jason's ear and send him swerving off the road. Then again, he was the only one with the keys to the handcuffs.

Chapter 36 by Guitarfreak8810
"Okay, Beautiful," Jason slams on the breaks again. The sun had come back out of hiding. He had been driving erratically all over the road the ENTIRE night! We didn't even get a bathroom break! "What?" I almost vomit in my mouth from his sweetness. At least Nick would have been nicer and not put me in these annoying handcuffs. They get really itchy after a while... trust me. "We're here!" He giggles, "Aren't you so excited?" He pops out of the car, slamming his door. He walks over to the other SUV and talks to his bodyguards for a little while. "Joe?" I whisper, "Are you okay?" "Yeah I'm fine," He smiles weakly, "So do you seriously like this Jason guy? I thought you were crazy for Nick.."
"He told me he hated me..." I shudder at recalling the moment. It was still as clear as crystal in my head. "He didn't mean it," he looks down at the ground, "I know he didn't." "Whatever." "Trust me," Joe moves closer to me, "He'd have to be stupid not to be crazy about you." "Shut up you two!" Jason had the trunk open. His men picked up Joe and put a blind fold on him. I painfully watch as they put duct tape over his mouth and throw him onto the ground. They just leave him there. They start coming for me. I shake my arms and my legs, trying to escape these stupid handcuffs. It didn't help though. I was plain old trapped. Things couldn't get any worse, could they? But boy, was I wrong. Jason leaned into the car, laughing a little. He pushed his face right next to mine and inhaled my hair, pulling it into his nose and back out. "Hehe, soon my bride, soon." MY BRIDE?! Wait wait! Hold up, what? "Bride? What do you mean, hun?" I put that incredibly fake smile on my face. I hope they had trash barrels at the wedding so I could barf my brains up. Then it would be okay to marry him. "My love, we must get married! You love me! I love you!" He picked me up bridal style and carried me. He struggles a little. He wasn't exactly macho man. He was more like pencil man.
"Okay..." I felt like throwing up. This couldn't be happening to me. Could it?

Chapter 37 by Guitarfreak8810
He carried me for another two seconds before he dropped me. How romantic.. "Thanks!" I squealed as I hit the ground. A sharp pain ran up and down my spine. "We're here, my love," he laughs and puts his hands on the back of the blind fold, whipping it off of my head. He unlocked the handcuffs I guess he was serious. We were at a church. It wasn't in the greatest of shape. The air was musty, filled with dust. Light streamed in from the broken windows. It was in great disrepair. The altar lay in ruins, most likely salvaged for it's gold and decorative gems. "Isn't it beautiful?" he gasps dramatically. "Yeah sure, if you're into old smelly stuff.." I can't help but laugh. "Shut up. Now, Tanya is going to take you away and help you with your dress. I'll change into my tuxedo and we'll be married in no time!" "How freaking wonderful," I complained under my breath. The church was designed to magnify the speaker's voice I guess.
"It IS," he grabbed my wrist and dragged me away to Tanya in another room. "Goodbye my love!" He closes the door and the pitter patter of his feet echo in the hallway. "I can't believe him," Tanya frowns a little. "What?" "He's done this six times. Same church, same dress, same everything!" She rolls her eyes, "Don't worry. Normally your Prince Charming will come and save you before he gets the chance to say 'I do'. Then Prince Charming will duel with Jason Loser Pants and will beat him easily. It's always the same." "Okay," I smiled, "So... Dress?" "Oh," she throws the dress at me, "I'll be outside. Just open the door when you're done. I'll come back in to fit the veil and do a little bit of make up." "Thank you, Tanya." "He always picks the nicest girls!" She walks out of the room, closing the door. That's when I looked at the dress. The only thought that was running through my mind was, "is this the Corpse Bride 2 or is it just me?" I threw on the dress quickly, choking in the musty smell of it. I walked calmly towards the door and opened it. "Okay," I grimaced and looked at Tanya. "You're probably the prettiest one he's gotten. Well, let's do some make up I guess."
She hastily pinned the veil to my head after she finished putting on my make up. "Okay, come on, come on, let's get this stupid show on the road." "You said it," I smiled and threw the veil down. We walked out and stood outside of the church. The music started to play. My heart was jumping out of my chest. "That's you," Tanya pushed me threw the open doors. I stumbled a little over the lip of the door. I regained my balance and walked down that aisle like a queen. My eye caught only one thing. Jason. I know it sounds weird to say this but... He looked rather dashing. His fringe covered his eyes. His suit looked like he just picked it up from a tux outfitter. I finally made it up to the destroyed altar. Jason took my hand very roughly and kissed it, a horrifying smile like the Joker's in Batman was painted across his face. "We are gathered here today.." the man starts. He didn't look like a priest but what do I know? I've never been to church a day in my life. There was a strange noise echoing through the entire church. I turned around and looked back up the aisle. That's when something caught my eye. A long dark stick looking object. It immediately moved out of my sight. Okay...

Chapter 38 by Guitarfreak8810
"PUT YOUR HANDS UP!" someone screamed out, "WHERE I CAN SEE THEM! LET GO OF THE GIRL!" Jason just laughs evily, "And if I don't?" The barrel of a sniper rifle pops up in the back row. BAM. Jason falls to the ground. The blood just was gushing from his head. His body spasmed. I just ran down the aisle, running to the SWAT guys. "Move, move," a man's voice echoes, "Melanie," my dad sighs in relief, throwing his arms around my body. "Daddy," I grin and begin to weep into his shirt. "Did he hurt you?" He kisses the top of my head. A tear escaped from his eye. "No.." I smiled, "Where's Nick?!" "He's fine, he's in my squad car outside. The one parked the wrong way." "What do you mean?" I caught his keys in my hands. "Just walk outside, you'll see." I stepped out of the church, into the clear sunny day. I had never been to this place before. It looked like... I think it might have been Las Vegas but I'm not sure.
There were squad cars parked all over the road. But you could easily tell my dad's car apart from all the others. It was parked on the stairs to the church. I hit the car alarm button on the cruiser, scaring Nick out of his pants in the passenger's seat. He opened the door and pulled me onto his lap. "I'm so sorry. I don't hate you at all," he kissed my cheek, "By the way, I like the dress." "Does it look weird or is it just me?" "I think the vintage stink makes it kind of weird," he wrinkled his nose up. "I missed you so much," I change the subject abruptly. No more thinking about ugly Jason or how awful he was. The sirens of an ambulance came screaming up the steps. They parked like my dad did, at a tilt. They should have just driven into the freaking church. "What did you say?" I knew he said something to me but the sirens were deafening. "I did too. It's a beautiful dress, minus the smell, the holes.. Nevermind that," he smiled, "I'm just glad you didn't get hurt." "Oh my god! What about your?!" I pulled his white shirt up to see it. His stomach was bandaged. "It's okay. They got the bullet out. I even saved it!" He shoves his hand into his dark jeans, pulling out a small silver object, "See? They weren't going to let me keep it but I really wanted it."
"You're so weird," I laughed and placed it back into his hands. "So?" his eye brow flies up, "Were you really going to go through with all of this?" "Well," I giggled a little, "I knew my Prince would come for me." "I love you, Melanie," he kissed my lips very lightly and rested his head on my shoulders. "I love you too... I love you too."

Chapter 39 by Guitarfreak8810
"Melanie? I didn't mean that I hated you.." "I know," I roll my eyes at the silliness of what he was saying. The flashing lights of the ambulance zooming by again catches my eye. Everyone will be coming back soon. That means Dad! Ahh! I almost jump off of Nick, acting as if a thousand volts of electricity had shot through my body. I leave him with the keys. I open the back door and climb in, stretching my legs out across the seat. It was a nice change. The leather seat felt extremely slimy against my legs. Stupid dress. The driver's door opens. I couldn't hear a single word my dad was saying. I just sat there playing absent-mindedly with the hem of my dress. He waves a little at someone.
He climbs in and Nick forks over the keys to him. All I can make out is the low roar of the engine. They're talking about something but I can't read their lips when they aren't looking at me. Then out of nowhere, Joe climbs into the cruiser. "Oh hey!" He smiles, "How are you?! Are you okay?!" "Joe, I'm fine," I sigh a little, "But you're okay right?" "Yup." "Okay, good!" I reach over and hug him. Then my dad starts backing up the car.. Bad idea, especially when you're on stairs at a 45 degree angle. We go quickly down the stairs, almost colliding with three cruisers. (Whoops!) Then the ride smooths out. I stare out the window of the car. Almost got married today. Hmm. Okay. The sun is getting higher and higher in the sky. Dad and Nick are talking away up in front. Unfortunately, we can't hear them.. "I wonder what they're talking about," I mutter. "FOOD!", Joe screams. Nick and my Dad both look up at exactly the same time. Joe and I are forced to crack up.
"He's hungry!!", I yell at both of them. They still couldn't hear us. I motioned to my dad to pull the car over. He did and rolled down the front and back windows. "He's hungry!", I repeated. "OH! I thought you said he was funny!", Nick starts cracking up at my Dad's mouth reading skills. "Alright, where you wanna get some food?", I say. "Hmmm... ANYWHERE?!?!", Joe screams out. "I know a place..." my dad rolls up the windows and gets back on the road again.

Chapter 40 by Guitarfreak8810
"Where are we going?", I look over at Joe. "I dunno," he shrugs it off, "Hopefully somewhere good. Hey do you have your phone?" My phone? "I don't think so..." I pat my ugly wedding dress in search of a phone, "No... Don't you?" I looked over at him. That's when I actually noticed something. Joe had a large brick like thing attached to his ankle. "What's that?"
"I... don't know..." He stares at it, "It might be a bomb.." "A BOMB?!", I flip out, pulling off my high heeled shoe and yanking his leg over to my lap. I shove the shoe under the tape and it easily breaks. I guess heels were good for something! I picked up the brick object and chucked it at the window. It didn't break the window though. It came back at me and hit me right in my stomach. "ERGH!", I grunt, "WINDOW!", I point to the window and shout at my dad and Nick. I pound on the window. Nick finally understands what I mean and communicates it to Dad. He rolls down the window and I chuck it out onto the grass. "Phew that was close," I nervously laughed. "Yeah..." he laughs with me. My dad pulls off the highway and we're in front of one of my favorite restaurants. Outback! (But seriously, it is my favorite!) "OMJ!", I scream. "Uhhh, okay O-M-J..." Joe spells out, rolling his eyes. "Haha yes! CORRECT JOE!" "I should call Kevin," he says out of the blue. Nick opens the door for Joe and my dad does the same for me. "Uhm, Officer errrrr..." Joe doesn't know his last name, and honestly, I don't remember it, "Do you have a cell phone." "Yes of course," he digs into his pants pockets and produced a brick phone. (If you don't know what a brick phone is: It's a cell phone that's
all one piece, usually made by Nokia. It's pretty creap... Haha first phone for most people!) "Sweet phone," I roll my eyes, "But can I seriously go buy some new clothes?" "Yeah sure," my dad throws me his credit card, "across the street, there's a mall. Just buy some jeans or whatever you want. And also, we'll get a table and wait for you." "Oh Nick?", I flutter my eye lashes, "Could you come with me?" "Sure, Love," he looks up at the sky, frowning, but then looks back down to smile at me. "Alright, we'll be back soon!", I take Nick's hand, "Bye Joe! Bye Dad!" "PLEASE! TAKE ME WITH YOU!", Joe mouths at us. "Have fun!" My dad laughs, handing Joe the brick phone. "Oh we will," I smile at Nick.

Chapter 41 by Guitarfreak8810
"What were you guys talking about?", I stared into Nick's beautiful brown eyes. "What do you mean?" he smirks. I guess it was their 'little secret'. "Never mind," we stop on the sidewalk, observing the walk signal. It had that obnoxious red hand blaring right at us. It wouldn't bother me if it
were purple or pink, but who picked red? Anyways, we just stood there together, waiting for the light to change and holding hands. "Hey?", a man walks up beside me, "Do I know you?" "Uh, no." "Of course I do! Come on, don't you recognize me?" "No." "Uncle Rex?" "No way!!! How are you!!" I almost jump into his open arms. Nick hung back, confused beyond belief. The walk light changed. "Talk to you later okay?", I kiss my uncle Rex's cheek and wave goodbye. I skip up to Nick, stealing his hand out of his pocket. "Who was that?" he flashes his beautiful white teeth at me. "My mother's brother. He's like the brother I never had. When we had big family parties he'd always stir up some sort of trouble with me." "Trouble?", he cocks his eyebrow, "Like you could be any trouble." "Oh Mr. Jonas, you haven't even seen half of what I can do." "Oh yeah?" he grins wildly. "Not like that!", I smack his arm. We finally make it to the small mall. He grasps the metal handle of the glass door and opens it for me. I thank him and walk through the door. "Where to?" Nick stops walking to read a mall map. I scan the lists of stores: Hollister, American Eagle, Gap, and Macy's.
"A lot to pick from," I rolled my eyes, "What do you think?" "Hollister," he touches his finger lightly to the map, "So we're here and we need to go," his finger moves along the plastic covering, "Here!", he stabs his finger triumphantly. Just like a little kid who's found the X that marks the spot. "Oh my God! Is that Nick Jonas?!", a tall girl screams across the tiny mall. "NOT AGAIN!", he squeaks out, "come on!", he pulls me behind him. I followed him into the Dollar store. "Nick, why did you pick the Dollar store? There's nothing in here!" "Oh sure there is! Like..." he bends over and rummages around in a carton, "Flowers?" "Come on, smarty pants," I tow him out of the Dollar store and into Hollister. I drag him to the counter. "Please! Don't tell anyone we're here!", I whisper to the cashier. He seems to understand. "Come back here and hide, they'll check the dressing rooms first," he thrusts his hands to me over the counter and pulls me over. Once I'm over, he helps Nick over. There's a small cabinet under the counter. Nick and I squeeze together in the tiny crawl space. "This is cozy," he kisses my cheek. "It could be our first house!", I whisper excitedly. The cashier kicks Nick a little to signal the fans coming either that or he just wanted him to be quiet.
The stampede starts. The wooden floors squeak from all the crazy girl fans. "WHERE IS HE!", they scream at the cashier. "Who?" "NICK JONAS!!!" "Where?!", his feet shift a little bit. I move closer into Nick. "HE HAS TO BE HERE!", a girl shrieks. "I didn't see him." Let's keep our fingers crossed and hope this works! Knowing my luck, it won't.

Chapter 42 by Guitarfreak8810
"So where is he?!?!?!?!", the small girl demands. "I told you, I didn't see him," the cashier states sadly, "If I did, I wouldn't be back here now would I?" "True," the little girl turns away and leads the mob out of the store. "Phew," I show Nick my shiny teeth, "That was close!" The cashier bends down and pulls me out gently. He helps Nick after. "So? You were needing to buy clothes? Am I right?", the man looks me up and down.
"Yeah, could you maybe help me?", I look at my feet immediately. It was like a board between my chin and neck had been removed. "Of course!!!", he takes me by the hand, much to Nick's dismay and leads me around the counter. If we went this way earlier, we would have been toast. Not just regular toast. Like toast that's survived an atomic bombing. My favorite type! "Okay, let's have a look," he examines my body up and down. His gentle fingers touch my skin and he pushes me a little. It causes me to rotate, "I think I know what you need." Nick gives him the evil look while his back is turned. Cracking up would have been bad, so I tried to cover it with a sneeze. "Bless you!", both said in perfect unison. "Thank you." "Here you go," the cashier chucks the clothes at me that he's picked out. "Thank you, uh," I pause momentarily to read his name tag, "Chuck." "No problem, Melanie." I take the clothes and skip off to a dressing room. I close the door behind me. "Hey," Nick knocks at the door, "can I come in and help?" "No, I don't think so," I laugh and start pulling the horrible dress off. I shred it a little, struggling with its zipper. When I'm finally free, I throw it over the door, hoping it will land on Nick. "I think we should recycle this for our wedding!", he states proudly while I'm throwing clothes on.
"Uh huh," I walk out of the dressing room. Nick's face almost fell to the floor. His jaw was pretty close. "Wow," he states, "you look amazing." I look down at the white tank top and jeans, "kind of bland, don't you think?" "Not at all," he engulfs me in a hug, "I'll tell Chuck you're buying it all. Well, I am," he whips his wallet out of his pocket. "I have my dad's credit card though," I remember the shiny plastic card in the dressing room. "You're almost my wife so can't I buy you SOME clothes?" "I guess," I sigh a little, feeling slightly defeated. He walks out of the small hallway and back over to Chuck. I yank off the tags on the clothes and everything so I can just wear the clothes out. I pick up the credit card and the awful dress and walk out. "Hey," Nick pulls me into a hug, "can I invite Chuck to the wedding? It's the least I can do." "Keep dreaming, what if I don't want to get married in the next two minutes?" "I have a cell phone!", Chuck pipes up, handing Nick his receipt. He signs it effortlessly, also writing down a number to call. "Thanks man," Nick gives him a classic smile and we walk hand in hand out of the store.

Chapter 43 by Guitarfreak8810
"So?", I smile at Nick. We walk down the sidewalk outside the small mall. The sun has fallen in the sky a little, just touching the tree line. "Yeah..?", he looks at me as if I'm crazy. "Well then," I giggle, "I think Joe is missing us." "More than likely," Nick shrugs. I still have the horrible dress in my arms. I see a dumpster and I get rid of "I don't think he really wanted to hang with my dad, considering he's a police officer.." "Oh," his fingers become laced around the large handle of the door. He pulled it towards him. "Hi! Welcome to Outback!", a woman holding the second door smiles at Nick, completely ignoring me. Okay...? "Thank you," he sort of smiles at her, ushering me through the door. "You're welcome," she smiles. We walk into the calm darkness of the restaurant. The lights aren't very bright. "Hi," I approach the little podium, "Uhm I'm looking for two guys. One of them is Joe Jonas?" "Right this way," she looks me up and down with a disgusted look on her face. Thanks?
"What is with these women!", I whisper to Nick while we follow behind her. "I don't know," he whispers back. "Here you are," the waitress says seductively, flitting her eyes too fast for regular blinking. "Thank you," I bitterly state and plop down next to Joe. I'd be able to see my dad and Nick better from the opposite side of the table. "Weeelll hey there," Joe grins, "Nice outfit." "Thank you," I smirk back at him, "So did we miss anything?" "Nah," my dads wrinkles radiate around his nose when he smiles at me. He slyly peeks over at Joe and they roar. "I guess we did," Nick pouts like a lost puppy. "Hey there," A different waitress walks over, "could I get you anything to drink?" She was asking Nick and I. My dad and Joe were both having Cokes. "Pink lemonade please," I smile at her. At least someone wasn't trying to hit on Nick. "I'll take a diet coke, thank you," he flashes a quick smile at her and moves his eyes back to mine. It was pretty much quiet for the rest of dinner. Dad and Joe seemed pretty quiet.. I said a few words between bites and they just nodded. Awkward silence. "Uhm?", I managed to finally say when we walked out, "What is with you guys?"
"Well we had a bet going on.. It's too bad Joe won, I wanted to throw him in jail for a day.." my dad starts erupting in laughter. "Well since you guys are best friends now, Joe can sit up front!", Nick rolls his eyes. "YESSSSS!!", Joe runs over to the squad car, jumping into the air and clicking his heels together wildly. "He's so cute when he's hyper!", I put my hand in Nick's. "I guess," he helps me to the car, picking me up effortlessly. He gently places me in the car and slowly closes the door, being extra careful not to slam it. "Thank you," I say as he enters the squad car. He closes the door with the same slow precision as he did with the other door. "Anything for you," he takes my hand and kisses the ring on my finger. That lovely rock. Thank god Jason didn't take it!

Chapter 44 by Guitarfreak8810
"What?", I snuggle up to Nick. He smooths my hair away from my face, "you know, I thought I almost lost you." "I was lost anyways. Didn't make much of a difference." I leaned my head against his soft shoulder. It was so warm and cuddly! I couldn't help but... Fall asleep. Everything just faded out.
I had no dream. This was a nightmare. The darkness was closing in around my body, strangling me. My only source of light was a small flashlight. Just like every nightmare, it was about to die. "No!", I screamed. My voice bounced off the walls of my mind, "No! No!" I rapt the flashlight against my hand multiple times. Maybe it would produce some light if I banged it up a bit. Wrong. It died easily, changing quickly from a faded bronze halo of light to nothing. "Nick?", I called out to him. No response. I sat down in the darkness. I might as well relax for the time being. My eyes grew heavier and heavier with each second that was ticking away. I was just barely holding them open with my fingers. The room I was in seemed familiar but I just couldn't put my finger on it. I scanned it a little. There was a door way. A small tapping noise came from it. Mortified, I just stared and stared. "Get away!", I screamed, "I'm not afraid of you!", Excalibur had mysteriously popped right into my hand. "Oh but you are," a voice said from behind me, "you are..." "MEL?!", Nick was shaking my upper torso to wake me up.
"Heh?" "Are you okay?", he whispers and pulls me into his chest, "you were screaming." "No, no. I'm not okay." "Love bug, shh, it's okay, I'm here, I'm here." "What was I screaming?" He pauses, looking right into my eyes. I could never get sick of those chocolate brown eyes, "my name." "Oh Nick," I feel tears falling from my eyes. "Don't cry, please don't cry," he kisses my forehead. One single tear rolls down his face, landing on my forehead. The car lurches to a stop. My dad opens the door, "Are you okay honey?" "Yeah I'm fine," I wipe the tears away from my eyes. "Would you like to stay over at my house?", he looks down at the ground. I look over at Nick. He could use a break from me. "Yeah dad, that would be awesome," I sniffle a little, "Just let me tell Nick. Five minutes." "Take as long as you need, baby," my dad hugs me quickly. He then lets go of me.
"Thank you," I walk over to Nick, right into his open arms. I whisper into his ear, "I'm going over my dad's house tonight, okay?" "Why don't you just have him move into your house?", Nick kisses me passionately, "I don't want to let you out of my sight." "That's a good idea," I sniffle. "Sir?" Nick calls out to my dad. "Yes?" "Well, Mel and I wanted to know, instead of her going to your house, would you like to move into our house?" "WAIT A SECOND!", he looks at us as if we're crazy, "You two own a house?" "No, no, not like that, Dad," I roll my eyes, "It's still my house. The Jonas' live down the street. I invited them to move in so I wouldn't be alone." "Oh! Let me go home and get my stuff," he smiles and jumps back into his car. The headlights flash in our eyes. "That was an ingenious idea," I smile up at Nick. "I know, I'm so smart," He kisses my forehead and we walk inside the front door.

Chapter 45 by Guitarfreak8810
"Hm. Well. That's everything," I haul the last piece of my dad's furniture into the house. Nick just ran upstairs after I brought it in.. Kind of strange. "Hi!", Kevin pops up in front of my dad. "Uh hi..." he just stands awkwardly. "Kevin, Dad, Dad, Kevin." "Nice to meet you," Kevin extends his hand to my dad. They shake and just hit it off. They started talking about the Yankees. I'm sorry, but Red Sox all the way! "Well, bye," I ditched my dad. I ran up the stairs into my room. He was sitting on my bed using his laptop. "Hey," I sit down on his bed, "What are you doing?" He closes his laptop, "Nothing, Muffin top." I poke his cheek, "You're up to something!" "Uh," he looks at his laptop, "No, I was checking my email..." "Really?", I open up his computer. He indeed was checking his email, "I know you're up to something Nicholas, and I will find out." He shrugs and kisses my lips lightly, "I doubt it." "You're on," I kiss him back. I roll off of his bed and walk out of his room.
If I was going to find out what he was up to, I'd have to be sneaky about it. Then, he would never know what was coming. I tripped over something in the door way. Which sent me flying. I didn't hit the wall though, which was nice. I hit a person. "Are you okay?!", I look up astonished. It was Joe. I hit him square in the chest. It was almost as bad as hitting the wall. "Yeah, I'm fine," he smiles. "Hey. I could use your help," I whisper to him, "can we talk about it where N-I-C-K doesn't hear." "I can hear you, Mel," Nick says. "No you can't!" I shout back. Joe gestures for me to follow him. He was wearing some pin striped blue pajamas. He looked exhausted for some reason with bags under his eyes. He leads me into my Dad's old room. I feel strange vibes running up and down my spine. This room always gave me the creeps. I never go in it. Then Joe turns suddenly and goes into the closet. He yanks a string on the ceiling, pulling down a wooden ladder. "Ladies first," he leads me up the ladder. it was an attic. But it was more like a living room.
"Wow, I've never seen this." "I found it when my mom and I were cleaning the closet out. I didn't say anything though." "This is cool," I sat down on the leather couch, "So I need your help." "With what?" "Nick is hiding something from me on his laptop. I need to know!" "It is a really good surprise!" "You know too?!?" "Nick made me swear not to tell you, same with Kevin. Your dad and my parents know too.. But Nick was waiting for you birthday." "My birthday isn't until... Oh my god. Tomorrow?!" "Yeah," he hands me a large box from the corner, "Happy birthday, Sis." He places it on my knees. I rip off the wrapping paper excitedly. The most my parents ever gave me was a gift card with their signatures on it. Nothing like this. Wrapped with love. I finally got all the paper off. It was a smurf. "Uhm, thanks Joe!" I hug him. "It sings too!!! Hit the button!! Hit the button!" I press the button and it starts to dance. "Love you, Bro," I kiss his cheek and laugh. "I can give you a hint though. Your gift has to do with venison."
"Deer meat?", I raise an eyebrow. "Yep. That's all I can say though." "I DON'T LIKE YOU ANYMORE!", I storm out of the room and grip my little smurf in a death hold. Why couldn't he just tell me! And why venison? Uh, I like steak, not deer. Joe! Sometimes I wish I could understand! I just don't though!

Chapter 46 by Guitarfreak8810
I pace the hallway, trying to decode Joe's mysterious answer. Venison? Well, I could find out. I just have to wait for the perfect moment. "Nick!", Mrs. Jonas calls out, "Come help me with the groceries!" "Kay Mom." Nick walks out of my room and runs down the stairs. I bolt into my room and flip open his laptop. "Nick" I click his name. It was the only name on the list. "Password:" I don't know! I tried Nickspassword. Kevin was smart enough to have kevinspassword as his so why not!
"Incorrect - Try again" I know! M-e-l-a-n-i-e I typed in. "Logging on" Thank god. His bland wallpaper showed up on the screen and his programs loaded. I opened up the Internet. Clicked browsing history. "Flights to Venice - Google Search." I quickly logged off his laptop and closed it. Venice? Italy? Why? I pass by Nick as I walk out the door. He smiles brightly at me. "Mom bought some cookies and cream ice cream," he holds a bowl out in front of me. I move in and try to snatch his spoon, but he curls the bowl into his chest and turns around, "Guess you'll have to go downstairs to get some." "I know what you're up to," I grab the back of his collar and turn him around to face me. "Really?", his face goes completely white.
I can't ruin the surprise of myself being surprised. "You just want me to go away because you're talking to KEVIN USING YOUR WEBCAM!" I had to lie! "What?", his face changes to a more relaxed look. Good thing he bought it. "I know you're talking to him even though he's right down stairs!", I point at the floor. "YOU GOT ME!", Kevin yells out slightly defeated. "I knew it all along!", I jab Nick's chest, "I knew it!" "Sure did," he turns around and walks over to my bed, still eating his ice cream. "You won't even share?", I pout. "Nope," he pops the 'p' and continues eating as he opens his laptop, "All mine." "Fine," I huff and run out of the room.

Chapter 47 by Guitarfreak8810
I trot down the stairs to get some ice cream. Slipping into the kitchen, I notice Mrs. Jonas busy cooking something.
"Hey Momma," I laugh and stick my head into the freezer drawer of the fridge. "Hey there Melanie," she smiles and gives me a puzzled look, "What are you doing?" "Getting ice cream..." "The boys ate it all," she rollesher eyes, "sorry." "Oh," I slide the door closed, "Nick's going to get it now..." She just laughs again, shaking her head. I run out of the kitchen and right into my room. Nick is still on my bed on his laptop. "Hello," I state as seductively as possible and sit on the furthest edge from him. "There was no ice cream." "Sure there was," he points at his bowl. "None for me," I pout. "Awwww," he crawls over to me, laying his head on my knees, "sowwie." "Me too!", I pick up a single curl on his head and twist it around my finger. I kiss his lips lightly. Once, twice, I don't honestly even know how many times. Then his eyes widen. "You're just trying to figure out the secret aren't you?" "Yes," I roll my eyes, "because this would be the way to figure it out.." He traces his fingers lightly over my lips, as if he was trying to memorize every contour.. "I love you, so much," he smiles, "Amd if that's not enough -" "It is. It always will be," I kiss his lips lightly before pushing his head off of me, "but I must know the secret." "You will. Tomorrow." "Why not now?" "Tomorrow is 7 hours away." I sigh, slightly defeated, "okay." It makes me sad that I already know it. I feel like I'm keeping something from him.
"Dinner!", Denise yells through the house. "I'll race you down stairs," I poke his forehead. He chuckles, "I've already beaten you." "HOW IS THAT POSSIBLE?!" "Like this," his lips gently touch mine and I wait for them to come back. But they don't. "THAT'S CHEATING!!!!!", I run after him, letting the pounding of my feet echo through the house. "No it's not!", He jumps down the stairs, two at a time. 'Yes it is!!!", I shove him playfully, "Cheater." "Am not," he kisses my lips at the bottom of the stairs. "AWWWW!", Joe yells out. "Shut up, loser," I laugh and kiss Nick back. "Dinner is getting cold!", Denise screams again. Better get going.

Chapter 48 by Guitarfreak8810
"Yay food!", I clap when I walk into the kitchen.
Dad, Paul, and Kevin are all talking about baseball and waiting. Frankie watches them and looks at Nick. I sit next to Frankie before Nick gets a chance. "Hey hottie," I ruffle his hair. "Told you!!", Frankie points at Nick and hugs me. "Huh?" Nick got a little angry, "Frankie said that you liked him more than me but I told him that was a lie. Now I owe him a gumball." "You deserve it," I shrug. "Alright, let's say grace. Paul, would you mind tonight?" "Not at all," we bowed our heads and prayed. I didn't really know what to do. I just went along with it. I had forgotten how devoted they were for a while. "Rub a dub dub, let's eat the grub," Frankie smiles and rubs his hands together. Mrs. Jonas could have been a chef.. She had made chicken marsala with mushrooms on top, green beans, a salad, mashed potatoes and gravy, and some home made apple sauce. We all start passing things in a circular movement and once everything made it around the table once, we ate. After we all finished, Kevin and Paul went to do dishes. "Mel! Play a board game?" "Sureeee." "Nick! Play board game too!"
"Fine Frankie." We follow him to the living room. Then he pulls out a strange game I've never seen before, "Risk". "Uhm. Where did you get this?" Nick grumbles, "under my bed in my room.." "Why is it there?" "So Frankie couldn't get it." "Ohhhh. What's the game about?" Nick opens up the cover, "World domination." "Oh," I let Frankie and Nick pick their colors first. I pick red. "Okay, roll to see who goes first," Nick hands Frankie and I dice. We all roll at the same time. Frankie, Nick, and then me. Okay. Once we got playing, the game was pretty simple. "You know this game reminds me of that game... Wizards and Walkmen?" Nick rolls over dying from laughter. "I was serious! This game is so nerdy!", I laughed, "But I'm attacking you. In uhhh China from Mongolia."
We both roll the dice. Mine spins a little bit before deciding to land on a 6. Nick's die has a 1. This went on the entire game, I got rid of Nick in the first hour. Frankie and I were duking it out for the win. Nick is still watching us play until the doorbell sings a little tune. I get up to answer it. "Package for Nicholas Jonas?" "Yup." "Thank you!", The UPS man walks back to his brown truck. It was a small package. "Yo Nick, for you," I put it in his hands before going back to Risk. "I will... Be upstairs if you need me," he kisses my cheek and makes a mad dash for the stairs. Men. I'll never understand them. "Ha!", Frankie yells after he's taken my 17th army. "You cheat," I smile and flop over on my stomach. Now that I thought about it, I was getting pretty tired. I let my eyes droop after every turn.. I woke up. In my bed, in my room, with an arm draped over my body. Where was the game? Where was Frankie? "Happy birthday," Nick kisses my ear and pulls me into his chest.
"Mhhh yay! I get to know the surprise now!!!" "No," he sleepily chuckles, "You won't know until we're there. I already packed some stuff you'll need.. Mom will get the rest..." "I'm not talking to you until you tell me." "That's not fair!" I remained quiet and fell back to sleep again.

Chapter 49 by Guitarfreak8810
"Come onnn, wake up!!", Frankie shook my shoulders, "we gotta finish the game!!" "Okay, okay, two minutessss.." I take my pillow and put it over my head. "But Melanieeeee! You promised me!" I guess the kid has a point. I slither out of Nick's hold and follow Frankie back to the board game. "We didn't finish?" "No, you fell asleep on the board and I made Nick carry you upstairs." "Oh," I look down at it, "How about you win and I lose?" "We gotta finish!"
"Fiiineee," I mindlessly play, letting Frankie beat me in 30 minutes. It was 7 AM and the entire house was silent still. "Okay, how about we watch... Uhm... Barney?" "Do I look like I'm four?" "Alright, alright, how about... James Bond?" I threw Casino Royale into the DVD player and turned on the tv. I sat on the couch right by the arm rest. Frankie curled right up next to me. I gently ran my hand through his hair, easing him to sleep. I wasn't going back to sleep though. That's when Nick came shuffling down the stairs. "Mhhhhh," he kisses my neck gently, "where is breakfast??" "It's 7:30. Why don't you make some?" "Um.. Alright," he turns to walk away. "Wait.." "Hmmm?" "Love you," I can't kiss him with Frankie on me.. I'd wake him up. "Yeah, love you too," he pushes his crazy curls out of his face and gets into the kitchen. Everyone started waking up. First, Paul and Denise. Next, my dad. A few minutes later, Kevin. Joe stumbled out of his room about 5 minutes after Kevin.
It was a mad house. I gently woke Frankie up for breakfast and we shuffled into the kitchen. "HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!", everyone shouted. Except Nick. Where could he have gone? "Thanks guys," I felt water come to my eyes. "You have to skip breakfast if you want to make your flight though," Denise laughed. "Okay," I ran up the stairs to my room, closing the door very gently. I threw on some stonewashed skinny jeans, with a light blue shirt, and my white converse. I went into the bathroom, brushed my teeth and hair, washed my face, and got out of there! I hopped down the stairs but Nick was still nowhere to be found. "Melanie, happy birthday," my dad hands me a small box. It was a pair of earrings.. Diamonds.. The light bounces all around inside of them, changing the colors. "Dad.." I hold back tears. "It's for all those birthdays I've had to miss. I love you, my little princess," he pulled me into his body. His hugs weren't like Nick's. He was a lot more muscular... Nick didn't feel like muscles when I touched him. He was... Perfect. "Happy birthday!!", Kevin and Joe attack me with hugs. I had already gotten a smurf from Joe.. I unwrapp Kevin's gift.
A... Huh? I pulled it out of the box. "Kevin??? What is this??" "You'll know eventually," he smirks. It looked like a knife. But it wasn't.. Whatever. Frankie gave me a macaroni necklace. He probably got it off some girl scout he charmed into giving him the necklace. Denise and Paul gave me a final present. A piece of paper? "Thanks," I look down at the paper. Holy sh*t. They gave me their house. Huh? "I can't take this," I choke. What? Why would they give me their house! "Why?" "This is your house, you keep it!", I place the deed back into Paul's hand. "Okay," they smile sadly. Then they move out of the way. Nick is wearing a black suit with a red tie. He has a bouquet of roses in one hand. "Melanie," he extends his hand. I lightly put my hand in his, "Happy Birthday," he hands me the roses and kisses my cheek gently.
"Thank you," I wrap my arms around his neck, taking in his delicious smell. I almost hit him with the roses.. that could have been bad. "Come on, we're going to be late," he smiles as he kisses my lips. I just wanted to hold on forever and ever.. But sometimes.. You just have to let go.

Chapter 50 by Guitarfreak8810
Something was vibrating next to my hand. I lazily turn on my side, feeling around for the object. My hand barely could reach it. I adjust my body and attempt to reach the stupid vibration. My eyes slowly open. Where am I? The room was a pale white color, with white carpeting. The nearly see through drapes blew in and out of the door frame. I looked down and saw what was in my hand. A brand new cell phone. Okay... I hit the top button, that turned on the screen which showed a picture of Nick, and I slide my finger across the smooth screen. "1 new message" I tap the SMS icon and the screen loads almost instantly. "Mel, this is only one of your presents. I'm downstairs arranging some things. I'll be up in 3. Nick."
I couldn't believe I didn't remember anything after I left the house! Oh wait... I fell asleep. That's what happened.. Scratching my side, I look down at my outfit. I was wearing a silky red night gown, which I don't even remember putting on.. Well that's just, I stand up and walk to the open door. I step through the door frame and come out on a balcony. It's night time. No one is in the square below me. It was dark but beautiful. The moon reflects off of the shut off fountain. Surreal. The door clicks and opens. I didn't turn around. "Hey Nicky," I fluff my hair a little, "where have you been?" Silence. I turn around. It was Nick. But his hands are behind him. The shock in his eyes scare me. "I'm so sorry," he doesn't even blink. "What?" Someone steps out of the background. Roxy?! "Hey b*tch," she scoffs, "what's up?"
"I was TRYING to go on vacation but EVERY SINGLE TIME I TRY TO RELAX, you MYSTERIOUSLY appear out of thin air." "Well, at least you're with your boyfriend," she grabs Nick's upper cheeks and wiggle his head around. "Don't touch him," I growl. "What did you just say?", she pulls a gun out of no where. She has another man with her, pointing his gun at me too. I could save Nick and die trying. But this time, it was worth it. Nothing else mattered. I pull Nick into my arms and punch the guy holding him in the face. I wasn't even aware that I could do that until now. I hit the balcony floor and close the door, which didn't help much. The bullets still rocketed through. Then something pops into my mind. I have an idea! I swing over the ledge, the wind tossing my hair, and get under the overhang of the balcony. Nick follows right behind me. We hang in complete silence for a few seconds. People are staring but are speechless. Then again, there were only three people out in the square. The balcony door flies out of nowhere, landing on the ground in a wooden heap. "How could you lose them?! Idiots!" She becomes very silent.
I try to keep myself from throwing up my heart, which was nearly exploding out of me. We didn't move at all. Who would? Just then, a bald man was hanging in front of our face. "They aren't down here," he winked at me. Oh gross.. Honestly, a bald guy had no chance with me in the first place, nevermind the fact I'm 200% in love with Nick. The bald man disappears back onto the balcony. -------------------------------------(1 hour later) "I think we're safe," Nick stands up and stretches. I survey my surroundings so we could get down another floor to the ground. Clothes pins, no, Fork, no, clothes... I pull a sweater off the line. Then another. And another. Soon enough I had them tied together and we were ready to make our escape. "Come my sweet," he ties the rope around a few bars inside the fence and holds out his hand. I take it and climb over the ledge. "OH MY GOD! THEY'RE GOING TO JUMP!!!" "Now people notice," I roll my eyes.
"Why would we jump if we are going down a rope made of clothes?" "NICK! PLEASE DON'T JUMP!!!", An older girl calls out from the crowd. "No one cares about me jumping! Just you!", I shuffle down the rope. "I care. That's all that matters," he says when his feet gradually meet the stones. I make it down to the bottom, not even letting go of the clothes when I was on the ground again.

Chapter 51 by Guitarfreak8810
"Hun, you can let go now... It's okay," Nick kisses my lips very lightly, causing me to release the rope, "we have to get out of here before... Roxy gets to us." Speaking of the devil, she walks right out of the front of the hotel, holding the gun towards the crowd. "WHERE THE HELL IS NICK JONAS!" The crowd takes us in, hiding us from her. We crawl on our knees and weave inbetween people. "To the dock," Nick whispers, moving slowly through the crowd. Then. Bam! A gun shot. An innocent man falls to the ground a mere 20 feet away. Blood runs in rivers from his cracked skull. Then people start to freak.
Children crying, parents screaming, absolute chaos. "SOMEONE CALL THE POLICE!!" "Tengo que irme," Roxy says smoothly, kissing the man's forehead, "Stay dead while I'm gone, okay?" She stood up and turned her head both ways. Everyone was running around, pushing and shoving. Nick and I were still crawling. She would be looking for us in the panicked crowd that was running, not down here on the ground.. "Come out, come out, wherever you are...." she cackles like an old witch brewing a stew of spiders! I hold in my scream for as long as possible. It didn't make a difference though. "DON'T YOU RUN FROM ME!", she fires her gun into the air. We bolt for a gondola. "Go!", Nick yells at the innocent man. He begins rowing as fast as he can. Nick jumps on me and tackles me to the bottom of the boat. It rocks back and forth under our weight. "Dammit, that hurt!", I moan. He wasn't really that light. And something went into my stomach. It didn't hurt too much, it just felt dull. "Sorry," he exhales, still breathing heavily. He must have been scared out of his mind. He rolled over off of my body onto the other side of the boat. Then again, so wasn't I.
The shots repeat over and over. Wouldn't she run out of bullets? I guess not. She must have had more than one gun. Then, the busy streets of Venice fade away. The chaos and the screaming stops. It's suddenly quiet. We end up in a cave... "Why are we in a cave?" "Because," Nick sighs and helps me up to a sitting position, "I had a feeling... this would happen. I planned ahead." "Why didn't you tell me?" "I didn't want to scare you." "Scare me? Nick, I hate to break it to you but I've seen worse," I scoff. I can't believe him sometimes. "I know," he closes his eyes somewhat angrily, "I know. But I wasn't sure okay? I just wanted a safe way out incase we needed it, and we did." "Thank you," I kiss his forehead, "but what are we going to do in this.. cave?" "It's pretty tricked out," he smiles, "Thanks Ronaldo," he shakes his hand and helps me out of the boat first. He then gets out himself. "Nick, you're bleeding," I pointed at his knee. It was dark red, like it had been bleeding for a while. "Really?", he looks down, "I don't think that's me though," he rolls up his pant leg. But his knee was completely normal. Weird.
"It's not me.." his eyes widen, "It's you," he points at my stomach. I didn't even notice it. I was soaked with blood, it was running quickly out of me. "Oh god," I fell to the ground and closed my eyes. Blood. Gross. The entire cave turns black. Wasn't it black anyways?

Chapter 52 by Guitarfreak8810
"Come on Mel," I hear Nick's voice, "I love you, please wake up, please," the pain echoes in his voice. "What?", I mumble. "Mel! Oh thank God!" "I'm confused," I open up my eyes. We're still in a cave. The ceiling isn't dark though. It's... bright. Water shimmered off the stalactites hanging over our heads. A single drop of water lands on my cheek. "You fainted," he frowns. "Oh yeah," I roll my eyes, "But what about all the..." "I called a doctor." "And doctor's always are available.. They come into random caves in the middle of nowhere right?..." "They do if your name is Nick Jonas."
I giggle a little. Then I lean forward to get up. "OW!!!!," I yelp like a wounded dog. Nick pushes me back down onto the bed, "I'm sorry, I forgot to tell you... your stomach is a little... banged up. You actually impaled," he winces, "yourself on the boat. You know, when we jumped in." "Dammit," I sighed, "I just want to get up." He starts stroking my face, "You don't have to get up," he kisses my lips, "you can just.. stay here," he kisses me again. "I guess it wouldn't be so bad," I smile. He picks up my body and puts it ontop of his, "that's better," he wraps his arms around my stomach. "Ouch!" "Sorry babe," he laughs, "Want me to kiss your boo boo?" I pout, "pwease?" We flip over again. He gently lifts up my shirt, just to see my stomach, he leans down and kisses it passionately. "Mhhhhh," I slightly moan. He keeps kissing it, moving higher and higher, lifting my shirt up even more. "When are we getting married?", Nick says between kisses. "Whenever you want to," I laugh, "How about right now?" "Seriously?" his eyes bore into mine. I give him a sarcastic look.
"Aw," he continues kissing me, "I want to have so many little yous and little mes, but I don't think I can wait any longer." "You're doing a pretty bad job so far," I put my hand on his chest and touch his abs. "You're not doing so well yourself," he sucks on my neck like a vampie. It felt so good! It would have been so nice.. to go a little further... But we both knew that wasn't possible. "How about.. we get married tomorrow." "Tomorrow?", I almost choke, "I don't even have a dress! And how are we going to get married when everyone is back in the US?" "You look beautiful in anything.. or nothing," he smiles shyly. "Nicholas Jonas! Stop it! This is serious!" "I can tell you that Kevin, Joe, and Mom picked out a dress for you, and we were actually planning it to be within the week," he smirked, "but... it was only if you wanted to. I wouldn't force you to do anything. I just want you to be happy." "If this will make you happy, I want to get married tomorrow," I put my hand on his heart, "because nothing in the world is more important than you." "Melanie," he hugs me gently, avoiding my stomach, "Thank you." I sigh happily. This time I was getting married, but I was doing it the right way. With the man I love.

Chapter 53 by Guitarfreak8810
"Well. How will this work if we're in an underground cave?..." I raise one eyebrow curiously. "We could use webcams!", he said casually, "If we leave this cave, we're not safe.. Not for another few days.." "Oh... Whatever you want is great. I love you," I kiss him a little bit and pull away. "Are you okay...." he strokes my hair. "I just... I want my dad to walk me down the aisle..." "Okay. I'll see if we can get out of here.. We'll be on the first flight back home before you can say..." "Nick Jonas." "I wasn't exactly thinking that, but sure," he responds. "That. Wasn't. Me." A shadowy figure moves out of the darkness. "And you thought I was going to make this easy?", Roxy laughs darkly. "Damn," Nick mutters. He rambles off profanities, "Why?" "Let's see... You've taken Jason from me!"
"It was his own fault! If he had just left us alone, he wouldn't be where he is now!" "Well you know what?", she pulls a gun out of her coat pocket, "I really don't care!" "Please don't shoot," I beg her, "We're friends Roxy. You were the nicest person when I met you..." She shrugs, "People change," she walks up to me and sticks the gun against my forehead, "Any last words?" "Bye," I say rather blandly. Everything just happened so quickly. Nick managed to push her arm out of the way before she fired. The bullet ricocheted off the cave walls. Zeeeeoump! She collapsed in a bloody pile on the floor. "Did you shoot her?", I ask him, my body glued to the spot. "I don't have a gun," he scoops me up in his arms and side steps her body. "You're just going to leave her there?" "Our back up has just arrived. They called the ambulance," he walks hurridely. I laugh to his surprise, "Do you know how nerdy that just sounded?" "The name's Bond. James Bond." "Oh wow."
A spotlight blasts us as we exit the cave. A huge barricade of vehicles surround the cave. "Mel! Nick!", The Jonas' come screaming. "Are you alright?", Denise and Paul quickly check both of us. Apparently, we passed the test. "Nick," I put my hand over the bandage under my shirt, "please don't say anything..." He bit his lip, "I can't do that." "Why?" "I don't want you to hurt anymore," he said quietly. Joe and Kevin were busy talking to Frankie about something. The whole situation with Roxy had just melted away. "Here," Denise handed us sandwiches, "You need to eat." Without another word we all got into separate cars. Apparently it was safer this way. Frankie and Joe were together, Denise with Paul, and Kevin was alone. Nick and I couldn't be separated which was understandable, but very dangerous. I munched on my sandwich quietly. Nick was staring at his. "Please eat," I whispered in his ear. He sighed and took a bite out of the sandwich. We both gobbled them down pretty easily. "Mr. Jonas?", the driver asked, "is there anything I can get for you?" "No, this is fine, thank you Larry."
"Anything for you?", his eyes flashed to the rearview mirror, landing in mine. His strong blue eyes startled me, "uh-uh-uh no, thanks." "Melanie," Nick wrapped his arm around my shoulders, "I'm so sorry about your birthday." I said nothing. I didn't exactly know how to phrase what I wanted to say. His lips found mine for a breif moment and they touched lightly. As abruptly as the kiss started, it ended. "No." "No?", he seemed confused. I took his collar and pulled him back to my lips. His lips just completed mine. It was like it was meant to be. And he didn't break off the kiss in it's usual place, right before I wanted to go much further. I put my hand on his chest and moved in slow circular motions, moving lower and lower. "Later," he mumbled, pulling my hand back up to his chest. "Now," I protested. I knew it was a stupid thought, but I could try. "Mel," he stopped kissing me. I guess I went one step too far. But he pulled me close to him, letting my head rest against the side of his perfectly flat chest. "Sorry." "No," he scratched his head, "that was my fault more than anything. I was leading you to think that was what I wanted right now."
"But I know you didn't... But why...?" "I don't know." I glanced out the window, but there was nothing to see in the pitch darkness. My eyes grew heavy. I just drifted off into the world of sleep.

Chapter 54 by Guitarfreak8810
"Mel," Nick smothered my body with his arms. I opened up my eyes. My body was confused. I thought we were still in the car. I guess not. My eyes moved across the dimly lit room. It was a really expensive room, that was all I knew. I felt Nick's diaphragm moving against my back. He wasn't wearing a shirt. I rolled over. His chest was a smooth ice sculpture, moving slowly up and down. His arms tightened around me and he pulled me closer. I just let him, I wasn't about to wake him up. That's when.. Well... Let's just say... I found out he wasn't wearing pants... Just boxers. I squirmed uncomfortably in his tight grip. It was almost a death hold.
"Nick," I whispered in his ear. I moved my hand up and down his arm, "Nicky." He muttered something I couldn't understand. "Nicky," I kissed his cheek, "Hello?" More muttering. He forced me to do it. I kissed his lips. Muttering. I pushed his hard chest away from me. "What?", he said finally. "You were kind of hurting me." "Sorry," he murmured. And he went right back to sleep. Sometimes men could be so frustrating! The sea breeze swept the white curtains in an out of the balcony door way. I rose out of bed, walking through the curtains. The view was breath taking. The ocean lapped the white beaches, with the reflection of the moon in it's waves. I felt a familar arm wrap around me. "Hey," Nick whispered in my ear. "Hi," I found his lips easily, "since when did you stop wearing pants when you slept?" "Uh. Well. I uhm. Didn't have any. To wear to bed. So yeah," he sounded somewhat flustered.
"It's okay, I was just curious. I don't mind....." His breathing grew a bit heavier but he regained control of it after a few seconds. "What was that about?" "Nothing," he said a little too quickly. "Nick, you can tell me anything." "I know...." he said impshly. "Then what?" "I uhm..." his voice grew shaky. I turned around to look at him. But his eyes were down. I followed his eyes. "Are you serious Nick?", I laughed. "What?" "You could have just said..." "Said what? That I just had an er-" "well yeah, but I'm never going to let you live this down." "Aw," he frowned, "Please?" I put my arms around his neck, "that would depend..." "On?"
"If you would do it again later," I winked and walked away from him, returning to the inside of the room. I walked by the mirror and glanced at my reflection. I was wearing an oversized tee shirt I had never seen before. "You're killing me," Nick walked by me. "Yeah right." "Sometimes I wish I didn't have this ring," he looked at his purity ring. "Well, Nick, you and I both know that it's important to be pure before marriage.. It's what makes you who you are. It makes you the Nick I've fallen in love with." "You really mean that?", he sounded happy. "Of course I do you silly goose!" "I love you so much," he kissed my lips roughly, "And I could scream it to the world." "I wonder how Shane would feel about that.." He laughed, "Well he's already gotten the chance to kiss you," his face hardened, "but I'll make sure to send him an invite to the wedding..." "When is it?" "Well, mom didn't want you tramautized by having it tomorrow, so it'll be in three days. My tux still isn't done." "Your tux?" "Oh yeah," he smiled, "it's very James Bond. It's hand made, one of a kind, and it wasn't too cheap. I might have to get it fitted again... But.. I guess it's not so bad."
"Don't you want to sign a pre-nup?" "I don't care. You can take all my money if you divorce me. I'd just be heartbroken." "I'd never leave you." "I know." I kissed his lips lightly. "What is with you and kissing me?" "Are you complaining?" "No," he slid his lips back on to mine, "not at all," he said hotly before sticking his tongue into my mouth. The phone started ringing. I left the kiss and picked it up. "Hello?" "Oooooh!", Joe was laughing, "What were you two up to?" "Joe!", I hissed, "Nevermind that, what do you want?" "Uh. Breakfast in 30 minutes." "Oh alright," I squeaked a little as Nick poked me, "See you Joe." "Bye," he grumbled into the receiver. "What was that about?", Nick engulfed me in his arms. "Breakfast in a half hour. Uhm. I need a shower. And clothes...." "I'll go find you something..." he said before kissing my forehead.
"Alright," I untangled myself from his arms and went into the bathroom. It was the size of an apartment! Biggest bathroom... Ever. I hopped into the warmth of the shower and washed my hair with the hotel shampoo. Where would Nick find clothes for me. I shutoff the running water and hopped out, wrapping a towel around my body. "Niiiiickkkkk," I opened up the door, "What's up? Clothes?" "Mom lent you these clothes. She found them in her closet." I looked at the dress he was holding. "She has dresses with pricetags still on them?" "I guess," he shrugged and handed it to me, "I'm going to go talk to Joe about something. I'll meet you downstairs." "Okay," he left after a quick kiss. When the door closed, I threw off my towel and put on the dress. Yanking the tag, I almost ripped the dress. Failure loomed in the air. My hair was completely soaked. I blow dryed it and let it curl. I honestly wasn't in the mood to deal with it. My bangs mysteriously were in the right spot. And I walked out of the room, closing the door tightly behind me. The elevator was right across from our room. I stepped inside the glass box. Good thing the floor wasn't. How awkward would that be? The elevator stopped on the 5th floor. "Hey!", Kevin strolled in, "You're looking good today. Nick is a lucky boy." "Haha, funny Kevin," I rolled my eyes at him, "Thanks."
He hugged me, "Seriously, you're the hottest almost sister-in-law ever." "Awkward?" "Yeah!", he said in a peppy voice. The elevator stopped again. Ew. "Heyya!", Miley popped into the elevator. "Hi," I smiled politely and glanced at Kevin. He looked like he was dying to say something. "So, how are things with you?", I said to break the silence. "Amazing. How about you? I heard you had a pretty crazy few days!", she winked and elbowed Kevin. He mouthed ow exaggeratedly. "Yeah, it's had it's ups and downs." "How's Nick?", she itched her head, "is he okay?" "Yup," I looked down at the floor to escape her annoying questioning. We stopped at the second floor. "See y'all around," Miley said before exiting the elevator. Once the doors closed, I chattered with Kevin. "I'm so happy that she ISN'T you," Kevin laughed, "She is so strange.." "I guess," the doors slid open, exposing the beautiful lobby. There were so many famous people here.
Tom Cruise just walked in. Morgan Freeman was apparently around somewhere. Kevin claimed to see him. We walked into the restaurant and it was completely empty. "Huh?", I looked at my delicate watch, "I thought..." "I'm lost," Kevin walked up to the head waitress, "has anyone from the Jonas party arrived yet?" "No, but I can get you seated," the woman said polietly. She seemed Kevin's age. Interesting. "Thank you." She walked us over to the table. Kevin was almost drooling. I elbowed him and he contorted his face into a smile. "Here you are," she said as she stopped at the large table. "Thank you," I smiled at her and took a seat at the other end of the table, away from Kevin. "Do I smell or something?", Kevin laughed. "No, no, I just want to be next to someone I haven't been talking to for a while." "Peh you talk to Nick all the time," he rolled his eyes, "I swear you guys are never going to leave the house." "Very funny," I rolled my eyes. I realized what Kevin was doing. The waitress was still standing there. "Sorry," she apologized before almost running away from the table. "Kevin," I said in a bright peppy voice.
"Shut up," he mocked. "Ask her out." "Are you crazy!", he flipped out, "Rose just broke up with me. That would be a total rebound." "Not in my mind," I winked at him. "Stupid engaged happy person." "Just for that Kevin," I paused and stood up, walking back out to the front of the restaurant. "Hi," I said brightly. "Is there any problem?", she asked nicely. "No, Could you just tell my fiancée Nick that I need to talk to him." "Oh," she blinked twice, "You and Kevin?" "No," I almost died from laughing. "Ah," she was scribbling something down, "Give this to him for me okay?" She handed me a piece of paper. "Ha alright, thank you," I said before returning to our table across the room. "What did you do!!", Kevin nearly screamed. "Nothing, this is for you," I handed him the note. He skimmed it quickly.
"Mel you're amazing," he smiled up from the piece of paper and put it in his pocket. "I didn't even do anything..." The head waitress returned with Nick. "Here you are sir." "Why, thank you," he flashed a quick smile and sat next to me. The waitress looked over at Kevin before leaving. "Hey, what did I miss?", He kissed me before looking back at Kevin. "Well aside from Kevin being his usual girl magnet.." "Ooooh!", Nick walked over to him and took the piece of paper straight out of his hands, "What's this??" "You'd find out soon enough," Kevin sighed. "Wow," Nick handed it back to him, "Guess you are a girl magnet."

Chapter 55 by Guitarfreak8810
The head waitress wandered back over to the table bringing along Nick and Joe. "Hey!", I kissed Joe on the cheek. "What about me?", Nick smiled and held his arms open. I kissed his lips gently and hugged him. PG in the restaurant.
"So how's it going?", Joe sat next to me on my left, Nick on my right. "Ask Kevin," I waved my hand at him and rolled my eyes. "What's up my brother from the same mother?" He slid the note across the table. Joe read it quickly and slid it back across. "I guess you haven't lost it completely..." Joe remarked darkly. "Are you okay?", I touched his arm. His hand was balled up into a fist. It immediately relaxed. "It's just... I loved Roxy so much...." he sighed. "I'm sorry," I felt so bad for Joe. "Mel," Nick poked me in the side, "Look," he pointed at Kevin. He was staring. The head waitress was just leaning against the wall, staring right back at him. "I never thought that'd I'd catch this," Joe sang, "Lovebug again." "What?", Kevin zoned back in. "Dude, you had your mouth wide open. Seriously?" Just then, she brought Denise and Frankie over to the table. Kevin was completely focused on her. He watched her figure retreat out of sight. He was completely checking her out. "Kevin do you have your library card?", Joe asked, "Cause it seemed like you were checking her out...." "Checking who out?", Denise asked, "Oh her?"
Kevin's face turned bright red. "Paul said he was sorry he couldn't make it for breakfast. He has to do some business." "Does it involve Miley Cyrus?", I said jokingly. "Yes," she smiled, "it's her birthday soon and they want to get videos of you all saying happy birthday." Nick groaned, "That's why my ex is still my ex," he said under his breath. "Now Nick," his mother said in a low voice, "be nice to her." "Yes Mom," he said in an annoyed tone. "Hi," the same head waitress walked up to our table, "Uhm, can I start you with anything to drink?" "Orange juice," Kevin smiled at her, "thank you." "OJ," she whispered and wrote it down. "Make that two," Joe said. "Three," I said. "Four," Nick said. "Five," Frankie replied. Mrs. Jonas laughed, "A round of OJ for the table. And could we get some coffee too?" "Uhm sure!", she took out her writing pad. "Coffee," she whispered again and threw it into her pocket, "I'll get that for you right away."
She left the table and walked into the swinging door of the kitchen. "Come on," Joe smiled and punched Kevin lightly, "Shes goregous! Why not say something." "What? Say 'Thanks for the OJ. By the way, you're ridiculously attractive and I like you a lot'?! Yeah that would make her fall for me." "She's already falling," Joe laughed. She was tripping over almost everything in the restaurant. "So," Nick poked my side, "That dress is very very nice looking." "I don't understand why I had to wear this dress... I like jeans," I sighed. The thought of comfy pants made me depressed. "It looks amazing," he whispers in my ear. He was wearing a pair of tan slacks that looked a little tight. "Are those Joe's?", I touched his leg. "Yeah," he turned a bit red, "is it that obvious?" "Probably not," I took my hand back and placed it in my lap. "Alright," the waitress walked over, placing the tray of juice on the table next to us. She started hurridely placing them by us. When she got to me, I motioned her so I could whisper to her. "Take it slow, make it hurt him," I winked. She smiled and nodded. No one else heard it though. Except... Nick. Big ears. "I didn't know you could be so evil," he elbowed me and drank a small sip of OJ, "Could I have a water too?"
"Sure," the waitress said happily. When she made it to Kevin, she showed the same amount of emotion. "Uhm, actually," Kevin turned a little to look into her eyes. They were less than a foot away from kissing. Awww, "Could I get a water too?" "A pitcher for the table would be great," Denise smiled at her, "Thank you." "Mom, this place sucks. They don't even have coloring books," Frankie looked sad. "Awww," I finally said, "Kevin that was cute." "Okay," he responded awkwardly. "That's kind of like how we met," Nick poked me, "not really." "Did you ever get the answer to that problem?" "Uhm," he laughed, "no." "Oh. Okay." We ordered our meals and ate in silence. Everyone seemed pretty happy. Then Nick's phone started ringing. Did he have it on him the entire time?! "Excuse me," he got up from the table and walked out of the restaurant. "Hey," I said to Denise, "When are we going to have the wedding?" "On Friday. I've never seen you both so eager. Maybe you should take it slow.."
"Denise, I love Nick with every cell in my body. I've never felt the same way about anyone in my entire life." "You sound like I used to," she smiled and itched her eye. Nick walked back in. "Hey love," he kissed my cheek, "My dad needs us upstairs? Are you finished eating?" "Yeah," I pushed my chair out, "Thanks for everything, I'm sorry we have to leave! See you later?" "Of course," Denise waved. "Bye," Kevin and Frankie said in unison. I wrapped my arm around Nick's and we made our way out. "Have a nice day!", the waitress said. "See you around," I waved with my free hand. The feeling in the pit of my stomach told me that we were going to be good friends. Nick and I walked in silence. "Mhhhh," he said in a low husky voice, "You know what I like about today?" "What?" "The fact that it's just you and me," he locked lips with me just as the elevator door closed. We were kissing for quite sometime until I heard a rather loud cough. It was... Miley! How could I have missed her?
"Hey guys," she said nicely, "what's up? How's it going?" "You know," Nick rubbed the back of his neck, "It's good." "So I heard about the wedding," she elbowed me harshly. It hurt like hell, "so are you two excited to tie the knot?" "Yeah, I couldn't imagine anyone more perfect," my glance shifted to Nick. He looked so... Happy. The elevator doors slid open. Aparantly we were getting off on the same floor. "Oh. Are you going to the meeting?", she looked more at Nick than me. She fluffed her overly fluffy hair a little. "Yeah," I moved closer to Nick's body, causing his hand to slide down my back. "PG-13 please!", Joe said right behind us. "Where did you come from?", I turned bright red. "Well. I was thinking about going for a jog. I warmed up by taking the stairs and I'm going to stretch and change.." "Jogging?". Miley seemed curious, "Could I join you?" "Uh, sure," Joe met Nick's neutral glance and said nothing more. Joe abruptly stopped and slid his keycard through his door. Miley slid hers in the room across the hall. Once the door was completely closed, Nick huffed. "What's she trying to do? Make me jealous?" "Nick, don't worry about her," I pushed him roughly into the wall in the hallway, "Don't make it a game for her."
"How about a game for you?", he grasped my hips lightly. "Depends... On what it is..." I wrapped my arms around his neck. Just before our lips touched, his phone buzzed. "We're going to be late," he sighed, "Later?" "If you're a good boy," I left it at that and walked down the hallway further. His hand latched onto mine. When we got to the end of the hall, we knocked on the door. "Hey," Paul answered the door, "Come in guys." "Thanks." I let go of Nick and entered the room. Paul shut the door behind us. I sat down on a chair in the corner. Nick sat across from me. "Nick, let me just get to the point," his dad said, "You have to wish Miley a happy birthday for the cameras..." "Ugh," he sighed, "Okay. But I love Mel." "I know that," he said calmly. "Okay, is that it?", Nick glanced over at me. Mr. Eager McBeaver. "Yeah could you give this to Joe?", he handed Nick an envelope. "Sure Dad," he took it and stood up, "See you at dinner?" "Yeah," Nick hugged him tightly. I then hugged Paul and I kissed his cheek. He kissed mine back.
We got out of the room quickly and walked hurridely to the end of the hallway. "Joe?", Nick tapped on his door. It was open. He pushed it open and walked in. The lights were off. "Holy shit," I freaked at what I saw. "What the hell, Joe?", Nick said angrily. "Nick, it's not," Joe pushed Miley off of him. "No I think I can see what's going on.." Nick looked at the carpeting. We both left. But our day didn't just go on happy go lucky. "Nick," I reached up to him, "It wasn't his fault..." "I... Can't believe it...." he rested his head on me. "Miley did it," the doors slid open, "Joe wouldn't do that. I know it," I led him out of the elevator and into our huge room. "I.... I guess," he unlocked the door and walked in. "Come on, Nick," I touched his chest, "Don't let it get to you. You'll be giving her just what she wants."

He loosened his tie, "Mel, I just. I don't know."
"You just need to relax," I walked him over to our bed and pushed him down gently. I laid next to him. "I don't understand how this will," he tried to say more but I quickly hushed loudly. We laid there, staring at the ceiling. "Nick," I said quietly, "listen to the sound of my voice and do as I say. Relax your arms," I touched them and he responded instantly, "Your legs," I touched his thigh. Same result. I continued until I asked to relax every bone in his body. "Let your mind wander," I traced a line from his forehead to his chin, moving around the corners of his eyes. And then I snuggled up next to him as he inhaled and exhaled slowly. He was completely asleep. I loved the feeling of his stomac moving under me. "Ring!", I jumped to answer the phone. "Hello?," I whispered into it. "Hey, it's me," Joe said. "Oh hey, how are you?" "Awful," he sighed, "Did you tell Nick I was sorry?" "Yeah, he's sleeping right now though." "I mean. I was lacing up my running shoes and Miley pushed me down onto the bed. She started kissing me and well, that's when you walked in. I mean, I didn't know what she was up to."
"I'm sure he'll forgive you," I said stroking Nick's hair, "Don't worry, okay?" "Thanks Mel," his voice wavered. "Alright, bye," I leaned over and hung the phone back up. I nestled back up to Nick's side, moving his arm out so I could get closer. It instantly wrapped around me. There was no way he was asleep. I didn't really care though, because for some reason, I was completely exhausted. My body ached with pain. The pain slowly eased away with every passing second. I tried to count all the dots on the ceiling.. Again, the phone rang. I moved to pick it up again. "Hello?", I twirled my hair between my fingers. "We're going out for dinner in an hour or two. Interested?" "Uhm yeah, thanks Frankie. Where are we going?", I put my hand over the receiver and kissed Nick's lips. "I don't know. A Chinese restaurant?" "Sounds good." "What, baby?", Nick smiled and his eyes opened. "Could you tell Nick that I didn't need to hear that," Frankie groaned, "See you in the lobby?" "Alright," I grinned, "Bye Frankie." "What was that about?", he wrapped his arm around my shoulders and let his feet dangle off the bed.
"Frankie wants Chinese food. I'm guessing your mom and dad didn't want to take him out." "Do we have to?", he twirled a piece of my hair, "we could stay here.." "Nick," I said warningly, "You have two days. No more, no less." He sighed, "I can try can't I?" "Not really," I cocked my eyebrow, "I think I need another dress." "We'll go buy one," he took my hand. "Are you sure you want to leave the room dressed like that..." His shirt was almost completely unbuttoned. Everything was just a mess. He looked like he had slept in his clothes. "Oh," he buttoned up his shirt and straightened out. It still looked messy. "Make that two outfits," I kissed his cheek and tied his tie for him. We left the room and made it downstairs. The hotel had a mall inside of it... We stopped at an expensive bridal store. "Nick. I don't think I need a dress that fancy." "No," he pulled me in and led me to the back of the store. "Paulo," he yelled. "Oh Nicky!", he ran out of the back room and hugged Nick. "I need something for," he gestured to me.
"Oh my dear lord," Paulo said, "she IS beautiful. I have just the dress for her!" "Thank you." Nick let go of me and Paulo took my hand and led me into the back room. "I just got this in from Paris," he opened up a box. The dress was stunning. "Wow," I touched it gently, "it's amazing." "I had a feeling you would like it," he smiled, "Do you want to really surprise him?" "Yes!" "I can throw in the matching shoes and purse for free," he produced a pair of dark blue heels. "Thank you," I hugged him. "Not a problem!", he giggled girlishly, "Now go put it on and strut your stuff for your man!" I ran out of the back room and right into the dressing room. The dress was dark blue that faded to black at the end. It was covered in a short of glitter. It looked like the night sky. Paulo even gave me tights. That was nice. They were black and fit perfectly like the dress. I slipped on the shoes carefully. "Hun," Paulo tapped the dressing room door, "Can I do your makeup?"
Sheesh Paulo was so nice, "Of course, come in," I opened the door for him. "Oh you look sexy! Oh my!", he touched my shoulders lightly with his cold fingers, "this will make you irrestable." He went to his makeup bag and pulled out dark eyeliner. He applied it quickly and put a dark coat of blue on my eyelids. After the mascara, it was perfect. "Aw thank you," Tears escaped from my eyes. "No crying!", he dabbed the tears, "it will smudge!" "Paulo, what would I do without you?" He laughed, "Oh you would be fine. You're a beautiful young woman." "Time to show Nick?" "He should be done too," he glanced at his watch. He picked up his makeup kit, leaving me with all the stuff he used. I shoved them into a small bag that also came with the dress. I strode out of the dressing room. Nick looked as if he was about to die. He looked absolutely amazing. "Oh wow," I kissed him. "You look sexy," he whispered and kissed my lips again. "What time is it?! What about Frankie?" Frankie stepped out from behind Nick. "Hey," I kneeled down and hugged his little body, "are you ready?"
"Yep," he put on his sunglasses, "let's go." Nick and I took each other's hands and followed Frankie out. We walked about 100 feet and made it to the restaurant. "Wow," I remarked when we walked in. The restaurant was decorated completely. There was barely an area without something interesting to stare at. The huge water fountain in the center was cool. "Jonas?", Nick asked the waitress. "Alright, follow me." The food was amazingly good. I couldn't ever remember having food that flavorful and delicious. "Mhhhh," I snuggled up to Nick in our booth, "Can we go now?" "I have to pay," he kissed my forehead. He remembered Frankie was there and apologized. "If I had my girlfriend here, then I'd do the same," Frankie smiled mysteriously. "Wait a second," I sat up, "You have a girlfriend?" "What?", Nick stared back and forth between Frankie and I. "Yeah duh," Frankie rolled his eyes. "What's her name?" "You tell me," he smiled and stood up, "excuse me, I need to use the restroom."
He walked away from the table and found the bathroom. "What has he been doing lately?", that must be where he met his girl friend. "He was in Ponyo... Oh gosh...." he stared down at our intertwining hands. "I'm lost." "Noah Cyrus." "She has MORE silblings?!" "Yeah... She's not an only child." "Sure seemed like it," I kissed his lips lightly. He paid and we left the table. Frankie strolled out of the bathroom just after we left the table. "Really? Noah Cyrus?" "Yeah, how'd you know?" "Didn't," Nick responded for me. We left the restaurant. The mall was absolutely dead. We strolled back to the hotel. "Mom!", Frankie ran away from my grasp and into her arms. "Hey kids," she hugged and kissed us all. "Wow," I glanced at my watch, "it's late, I'm sorry but I'm exhausted. Could we talk tomorrow?" "Sure," Denise smiled, "see you at breakfast!" "Bye!", I waved and got into the elevator with Nick.
"Hey," I pushed the button for the floor, "what's wrong?" "Nothing," he shifted his weight. "Nick... You can tell me." "I know." "Then what's the big problem?" He produced a magazine from inside his jacket pocket. "JONAS TO TIE THE KNOT!", was the annoying headline in a flourescent yellow font, along with a picture of us holding hands. I flipped through the pages. "The wedding date is set to be the 13th (how lucky) in an undisclosed location," I handed it back to him. "Who cares that they know?" "I'm worried about.... Well..... I think you know..." "Why is everyone out to get us!", I rolled my eyes. Just then, the electricity went out. The elevator stopped moving. I sat on the floor and pulled Nick down with me. "Why?", my synical laugh turned into weeping. I was going completely crazy. "I'm sure it's just a power outage. No worries," he smiled. A heavy grinding noise pierced my eardrums. "What the hell?" "Maybe they're moving the cables by hand?"
My hands pounded on the doors and started aching. I pressed the red emergency button. It blinked on and off. The elevator rocked, swaying to one side. "Nick, we have to get on top. The elevator will crush us otherwise." He hoisted me up and I moved the ceiling panel out of the way. Once I climbed through, I helped him up. It wasn't easy, but we got the job done. "If we die," I started. "We're not going to." "I love you." "I love you too." A cold wind swooped in. I huddled closer to Nick. "So," I laughed as my teeth chattered, "How's life?" "Good," he took off his jacket and put it on my shoulders. It was so warm! "Thanks." "You're welcome." The elevator moaned. "Here we go," Snap, snap, snap! Metal wires fell from high above. The elevator let go of the ceiling. We fell, down about 2 floors and landed on the bottom of the shaft.
"Are you alright?", he checked me over. I could feel my arm tingling. I flipped my arm over. It was a large slash with no blood. "Battle scar," he ran his hand over it, "I'm sorry." Sparks flew out from the crushed elevator. Some landed directly on the wound. It burned. I shrieked. Just then, a few feet above us, the elevator doors to the first floor opened up. "Hello? Is anyone down there?", someone asked. "Yes!", we said in unison. A firefighter sat on the ledge of the elevator and secured a small ladder. Nick lifted me up and followed me up the ladder. "What is with you guys and getting in trouble?", Joe smiled and extended his hand. "I thought Joe was the trouble maker," Mrs. Jonas laughed, "Are you alright?" "Yeah we're fine," I laughed, "Just a little scared."

Chapter 57 by Guitarfreak8810
"Uhhhm. I honestly don't know!", I smiled and tripped into his arms. "Woah cowgirl, slow your horses. I thought we just met."
I couldn't help but laugh. Nick didn't think it was too funny though. I moved out of the way and helped Nick out. "I guess we have to take the stairs.." I sighed. "Yeah," Nick kissed my cheek. "We better get going," I touched my hand to his. The stairs were a killer. When we made it up the stairs, I flopped onto our bed. "Exhausting," I closed my eyes and didn't open them again. ----------------------------------------------------------"Hey, Mel," Nick shook me lightly, "You're crushing me." "Sorry," I mumbled and rolled away from him. "Come backkk.." I did as I was asked. ---------------------------------------"Mel," Nick shook me again. "What what what?" "It's uhmmm... Today is our wedding day..." "How did I sleep that long?"
He shrugged, "but uhm your dress is here... I didn't look, I promise. Mom wants you in her room to get ready." "Okay," I kissed him, "I'll see you later?" "Of course." I rolled off the bed and stood up, grabbing the box in one fluid motion. "Nananana!", I sang the James Bond theme song as I opened the door. "That's why I love you," he said happily before closing the door behind me. Wait a second. What about Nick's bachelor party? I dialed Nick while walking down the hallway. "Did you have a bachelor party?" "Yeah," he laughed, "You were out like a light. I was worried but Joe and I played a few board games. It was fun... I guess..." "Oh. Okay, that's all I wanted to know," I glided into the closing elevator and hit the button, "Bye!" "Bye," he whispered and disconnected the call. I stared at my phone for a few seconds. And I realized that I wasn't the only one in the elevator. "Hey Mel!" "Dems!", I hugged her, "I didn't know if you were going to make it!" She flicked her wrist, "gotta be here for the boys. Kevin is upset that Nick is getting married before him."
"I think he'll get over it," I giggled. The door opened. "See you in a few hours!", she waved. "Bye!", I ran out of the elevator. I sprinted the rest of the hallway and knocked on Denise's door. "We've been waiting!", she hugs me, "we have serious work to do!" I sit down in a nice soft chair and five people swarm around me, starting to do my hair and my makeup. I fell asleep mysteriously during the process and was woken up at the end. I put the dress on without looking at myself in the mirror. And when I did. "Wow," a tear slipped from my eye, "Thank you all so much." "You're welcome," they said in almost perfect unison. Without much else, we rode down the elevator and made it to the small church less than a minute away. People were gasping as I walked by. I couldn't wait to see Nick's face. The church doors swung open widely, letting the light fill the large room. My foot touched the first brick on the floor. "Hey, you weren't just going to give yourself away now were you?", My older brother Jake came up to my side. He was 10 years older than me and had brilliant black hair. His blue eyes were as clear as crystal in the sun light. I almost cried. It had been so long since I'd seen him. Over 9 years. My "parents" weren't too fond of him.
I kept my head up and walked along the aisle, "I missed you so much." Old memories came rushing back into my head. He winked at me, "I know. I missed you too, Kid. We've got some catching up to do later." We made it up to where Nick was standing. I turned to face him. One simple peck on the cheek and off he went. Nick offered me his hand which I took teary eyed and joined him. And that's the end of my story, as the lonely depressed Melanie, and the beginning of our story, as Melanie and Nicholas Jonas, husband and wife.
