Project: A project is a primary unit of work that can be broken down into one or more
tasks.
Task : t is the small unit of work created under the project a!ainst which transaction can
be created.
Project Classes:
Oracle PA has pro"ided three pre defined project classes.
Indirect projects #rack o"erhead acti"ities and costs of the or!ani$ation. Note:
Does not generate revenue and invoicing process.
Capital projects #rack asset de"elopment acti"ities and costs% and costs are
capitali$ed as one or more assets.
Contract projects - Contract projects created with e&ternal customer to track
cost% re"enue% and billin!.

Oracle Internet %&penses Integration: Oracle Projects fully inte!rates with Oracle
nternet '&penses and Oracle Payables so that you can easily create project e&pense
reports in i'&penses% and pay them in Oracle Payables. 3ou can also enter e&pense
reports in Oracle Projects and use Oracle Payables to create in"oices from the e&pense
reports% maintain and track payments of them% and transfer the accountin! transactions to
Oracle ,eneral -ed!er.
Oracle #ecei'ables Integration: Oracle Projects fully inte!rates with Oracle
Recei"ables to process your in"oices and track customer payments. Oracle Projects
!enerates draft in"oices and uses Oracle Recei"ables to collect payments for the project
in"oices and transfer the accountin! transactions to Oracle ,eneral -ed!er. .hen you
transfer in"oices to Oracle Recei"ables% Oracle Projects also maintains project balances
of unbilled recei"ables and unearned re"enue and creates accountin! transactions for
these amounts.
Oracle (ssets Integration: Oracle Projects allows you to mana!e capital projects. n a
capital project% you collect construction1in1process 4CP5 and e&pensed costs for each
asset you are buildin!. 3ou use Oracle Projects to collect all asset cost detail transactions%
summari$e them% and transfer them to Oracle Assets to become depreciable fi&ed assets.
Oracle Assets will create and transfer journal entries to Oracle ,eneral -ed!er to relie"e
the CP account and record the asset cost.
%&ternal )ystems Integration
3ou can upload transactions from e&ternal cost collection systems into Oracle Projects
usin! the #ransaction mport interface and Oracle .ebA6 upload tool. 3ou can load
2uantities or 2uantities and raw costs for the transactions. Oracle Projects calculates
burdened cost% re"enue% and in"oice amounts% and performs all accountin! functions for
these imported transactions.

Once the Asset is built you can use that Asset within your or!ani$ation or sell it to a
customer but the project that is in"ol"ed in buildin! the Asset will be handled usin!

ndirect Project: #hese projects are internal to company and are not billed to client or you
are not buildin! any Asset. #hese projects are e&pense in nature and in"ol"e impro"in!

closed. (ystem will allow ,- to close but it is the responsibility of the PA team lead to
make sure to "alidate all the transactions within PA module to be transferred to ,-
pertainin! to that period. f we try to close the PA period without transferrin! the PA
transactions then PA will "alidate the system and stop the user from closin! the books.
