Elements of Soil Mechanics, 8th Edition

Exercises 7.3 & 7.5

The worksheets in this spreadsheet illustrate the use of the BS8002 & EC 7 GEO limit
state design methods for the design of cantilever sheet pile walls.

Although the spreadsheet contains the data for Exercises 7.3 and 7.5 from the book, the
data may be changed so that the reader can see the effect of varying the soil properties,
retained height etc.

Instructions:

1. On opening the spreadsheet, the user must click "Enable Macros" in the opening dialog
box. (The macros contain the algorithms used to determine the design depth.)

2. As the routines call data from the partial factors spreadsheet, a dialog box asking
whether to update the data will appear. To use the default Eurocode 7 partial factor
values, click "Don't Update". If, however, you have changed values in the partial factors
spreadsheet, click "Update".

2. Select any sheet to continue.
