CDI INSPECTIONS

Chemical Distribution Institute (CDI) is a Chemical Industry Organization that was created to improve the
safety and quality performance of bulk liquid shipping. Within their CDI-M scheme they provide annual
inspections of chemical and liquid petroluem gas tankers.
Captain Eddie Janson is Accredited by Chemical Distribution Institute (CDI) as an Inspector of Chemical
Ships.
All CDI inspections to be requested on the CDI website.

Pre OCIMF Vetting & Pre CDI inspections

The Oil Companies International Marine Forum (OCIMF), the Oil Companies association, introduced their
Ship Inspection Report Programme (SIRE) in 1993. In the SIRE programme tank ships are vetted against
OCIMF's Vessel Inspection Questionnaire (VIQ).
To have good vetting records are important for tank and chemical ships. Many observations can be avoided
by good preparations. To have an external entity visting the vessel for a pre-inspection a couple of days
before a SIRE/CDI inspection is often a very profitable investment.
MariTrain can visit the vessel a few days before the inspection in order to prepare the vessel for the
upcoming external inspection.

Pre-OVID inspections
In 2010 the Oil Companies International Marine Forum (OCIMF) introduced the Offshore Vessel Inspection
Database (OVID), which is an Inspection Regime for Offshore Vessels similar to the SIRE Inspection Regime
for tank ships. For more information please read this article.
In the OVID programme offshore vessels are vetted against OCIMF's Offshore Vessel Inspection
Questionnaire (OVIQ).
To have good OVID records are important for Off-Shore vessels. Many OVID observations can be avoided
by good preparations. To have an external entity visting the vessel for a pre-inspection a couple of days
before an OVID inspection is often a very profitable investment.
MariTrain can visit the vessel a few days before the inspection in order to prepare the vessel for the
upcoming external inspection.

ISM Internal audits

The International Safety Management Code (ISM) require Shipping Companies to have procedures
for conducting both internal and external audits to ensure the ship as well as the shore organisation is
doing what is documented in the Safety Management System.
MariTrain offers certified and experienced ISM Lead Auditors available to perform ISM audits onboard
ships as well as on Shipping Companies' shore organisations.
ISPS internal audits
The International Ship and Port Facility Security Code (ISPS) require Shipping Companies to have
procedures for conducting both internal and external audits to ensure the ship is doing what is
documented in the Ship Security Plan.
MariTrain offers experienced Internal Auditors available to perform ISPS audits onboard ships.

Navigational Audits
According to OCIMF TMSA element 5, the operator shall arrange independent navigational reviews to
check the navigational competence. A navigational audit can also be performed after an incident or to
improve navigational procedures after an observation on a vetting/CDI inspection.
MariTrain have experienced and qualified Auditors available to perform Navigational Audits onboard ships

Panama Bureau of Shipping

MariTrain is appointed to carry out inspections on behalf of Panama Bureau of Shipping.
MariTrain is authorized to do the following inspections:

Safety Equipment
Safety Radio
Load Line
MARPOL Annex I
MARPOL Annex VI
ILO
Crew Accomondation

CDI/KPI Audit
The CDI's chemical participants has identified 23 Key Performance Indicators (KPI's) for CDI audit
purposes, which will enable the CDI members to initiate risk mitigation steps commensurate with the risk
associated to the specific cargo they move in ocean containers whilst meeting the chemical industries
Responsible Care Requirements.
MariTrain can offer trained and certified CDI/KPI auditours.

IMCA-CMID
The Common Marine Inspection Document (CMID) provides a standard format for inspection of offshore
vessels. Its use helps promote safety and efficiency and can help reduce the number of repeat inspections
on individual marine vessels.
The inspection should be planned and undertaken in liaison with the vessel owner and should be
undertaken by a competent inspector. Vessel charterers and clients may consider the inspection
report before commissioning any further inspections.

MariTrain AB can perform CDIM inspections world wide.
