Group discussions on concerns

The workshop presented the
concerns by directorate to the
body present. FD William Cejas,
was the first to present, followed by Tex Bulambot for the
Mission and Eton Apao for PSD.
Soon after, the body was divided into groups to come up
with action plans to the concerns presented.
Due to the number of concerns presented and the varied
reactions given by the participants, the day was not enough
to come up with the plans, goals
and objectives for year 2013.
The task rest on the current
governance team to do.

Intercessory Group Holds “2000 Hail Mary” Prayer
To culminate the month of
the Holy Rosary, the intercessory Ministry prayed the 2K Hail
Mary Devotion. The prayer vigil
started at 10 o’clock in the
morning on November 3, 2012
at the beautiful meditation place
of Kuya Vito and Ate Nimfa
Aballe. The place had its blessing
before the start of the prayer.
The 12 hours prayer vigil saw
many brothers and sisters taking
turn in praying one hundred Hail
Marys after each of the 20 prayer
petitions.

Running on its seventh year,
the 2000 Hail Mary prayer devotion has attracted more followers through the years. Praying
for others with others through
the 2K Hail Marys is a beautiful
and grace filled tradition BCBP
Mactan is proud to have.
CH Guy Ceniza encourages
other members to join the
prayer devotion next year. It is a
spiritually uplifting experience
with heavenly rewards.

Do not think of the few things you did not get after praying. Instead think of the countless beautiful
things God gave you without asking.

Our Lady’s 15 Promises for Praying the Rosary
Besides the Indulgences attached to the Rosary, Our Lady revealed to St. Dominic and
Blessed Alan de la Roche additional benefits for those who devoutly pray the Rosary.
1. Whosoever shall faithfully serve me by the recitation of the Rosary shall receive
signal graces. (Signal Graces are those special and unique Graces to help sanctify us in our state in
life).

2. I promise my special protection and the greatest graces to all those who shall recite the Rosary.
3. The Rosary shall be a powerful armor against hell, it will destroy vice, decrease sin
and defeat heresies.

Fr. Raffy de Gracia

4. It will cause good works to flourish; it will obtain for souls the abundant mercy of
God; it will withdraw the hearts of men from the love of the world and its vanities,
and will lift them to the desire for Eternal Things. Oh, that souls would sanctify
themselves by this means.
5. The soul which recommends itself to me by the recitation of the Rosary shall not
perish.
6. Whosoever shall recite the Rosary devoutly, applying himself to the consideration
of its Sacred Mysteries shall never be conquered by misfortune. God will not chastise him in His justice, he shall not perish by an unprovided death; if he be just he
shall remain in the grace of God, and become worthy of Eternal Life .
7. Whoever shall have a true devotion for the Rosary shall not die without the Sacraments of the Church.
8. Those who are faithful to recite the Rosary shall have during their life and at their
death the Light of God and the plenitude of His Graces; at the moment of death
they shall participate in the Merits of the Saints in Paradise.
9. I shall deliver from purgatory those who have been devoted to the Rosary.
10. The faithful children of the Rosary shall merit a high degree of Glory in Heaven.
11. You shall obtain all you ask of me by recitation of the Rosary.
12. All those who propagate the Holy Rosary shall be aided by me in their necessities.
13. I have obtained from my Divine Son that all the advocates of the Rosary shall have
for intercessors the entire Celestial Court during their life and at the hour of
death.
14. All who recite the Rosary are my Sons, and brothers of my Only Son Jesus Christ .
15. Devotion to my Rosary is a great sign of predestination.

Obstacles are placed in our way to see if what we want is really worth fighting for. Every wound
bears a scar and every scar tells a story. A story that says, “I’ve been through it all and made it”.

PORTA FIDEI
Fr. Martin Okafor-Ilozue CSSp - BCBP Mactan BCLP19

Porta fidei, “door of faith” is an apostolic letter written by Pope Benedict XVI
last year October, and it was intended to be a prelude to the launching of the
year of Faith, October 11th 2012 to November 24th 2013. In this letter addressed
to the people of God through their pastors, the Bishops all over the world, the
Pope tried to explain why year of Faith and what he hopes will be achieved
through the year.
Fr. Martin

“The door of Faith is
always open for us and
to enter through the
door is to set out on a
journey that lasts a life
time, beginning with
baptism and ends with
the passage through
death to eternal life.”

The door of Faith is always open for us, the Pope wrote, and to enter
through the door is to set out on a journey that lasts a life time, beginning with
baptism and ends with the passage through death to eternal life. Hence, the
Church as a whole and all her Pastors, like Christ, must set out to lead people
out of the desert, towards the one who gives us life, and life in abundance.
Using the desert to describe the situation in the world today, the Holy Father
pointed out the spiritual dryness in the world today, the too many lack of faith
even among Christians, the excessive pursuit of worldly pleasures and belongings
have caused the erosion of faith in the world. It is increasingly becoming difficult
and for some people shame to practice the faith today.
The Holy Father recognized that the difficulty stemmed from the fact that
there is no more unitary cultural matrix, broadly accepted in its appeal to the
content of the faith and the values inspired by it. Many people have been affected
by a profound crisis of faith due to the global challenges and cultural differences
and religions.
He will urge the faithful not to accept that salt should be tasteless or the light
be kept hidden, he believed that we can still experience the need to go to the
well, like the Samaritan woman (Jn 4:14), and that we must rediscover a taste for
feeding ourselves on the word of God faithfully handed down by the Church, and
on the bread of life, offered as sustenance for His disciples.
The Pope is convinced that the two things lacking in the world today are the
most essential in professing our faith, listening to the word of God and being in
communion with Him through the sacramental life in the Church, these would
reinvigorate our faith, purify it, confirm it and confess it.
So then, all of us are being called by the pope to a renewal which we must
achieve through witnessing with our lives as believers, to radiate the word of
truth that the Lord Jesus has left us. This year of faith summons us to an authentic and renewed conversion to the Lord, the one savior of the world. It is believed that through this renewal of faith, our lives should be shaped according to
the radical new reality of the resurrection which is freely chosen by us believers,
transforming us and bringing us nearer home with the journey of faith in this life.
This renewed faith would make us to be strong committed Christian working
within the ecclesial communities to rediscover the joy of believing and the enthu-

siasm for communicating the
faith to others. Faith grows when
it is lived as an experience of
love received and of grace and
joy. The Holy father wants this
year to arouse once more in
every believer the aspiration to
profess the faith in fullness and
with renewed conviction, with
confidence and hope and also to
rediscover the content of the

faith, that is professed, celebrated, lived and prayed. And to
reflect on the act of faith is a task
that every believer must make.

Pope Benedict XVI

Year of Faith Begins October 11, 2012; Focuses on New Evangelization
www.bcbpkapatran.com

October 11, 2012 marks the
beginning of the special Year of
Faith proclaimed by Pope Benedict XVI. This date was chosen
because it is both the fiftieth
anniversary of the opening of the
Second Vatican Council, and the
twentieth anniversary of the
publication of the Catechism of
the Catholic Church. Also, during
this month, a General Assembly
of the Synod of Bishops will
gather at the Vatican to reflect
on the theme: “The New Evangelization for the Transmission of
the Christian Faith.” The Year of
Faith will end on November 24,
2013, the Solemnity of Christ the
King.
The Holy Father has issued an
Apostolic Letter, Porta Fidei [Door of Faith], which explains his vision for the Year. A
brief summary, including quotaions from the Pope, was given
in an explanatory note by the

Congregation for the Doctrine
of the Faith:
…The Year of Faith is intended
to contribute to a renewed conversion to the Lord Jesus and to
the rediscovery of faith, so that
the members of the Church will
be credible and joy-filled witnesses to the Risen Lord in the
world of today — capable of
leading those many people who
are seeking it to the “door of
faith” (Acts 14:27). This “door”
opens wide man’s gaze to Jesus
Christ, present among us
“always, until the end of the
age” (Mt 28:20). He shows us
how “the art of living” is learned
“in an intense relationship with
him.” “Through his love, Jesus
Christ attracts to himself the
people of every generation: in
every age he convokes the
Church, entrusting her with the
proclamation of the Gospel by a
mandate that is ever new. Today

too, there is a need for stronger
ecclesial commitment to new
evangelization in order to rediscover the joy of believing and the
enthusiasm for communicating
the faith.” …
In the Year, the Holy Father
invites us all to “rediscover the
content of the faith that is professed, celebrated, lived and
prayed, and to reflect on the act
of faith.” This is “a task that
every believer must make his
own, especially in the course of
this Year” (Porta Fidei, 9). Let us
take advantage of this time of
grace, entering deeply into the
mystery of faith by pondering of
the scriptures of the daily liturgy.

Hear with your heart. See with your soul. Be guided by a hand that you can’t hold. Trust even if you
can’t see. That’s what faith must be.

Making Beautiful Memories

Nery Gula
“The weekend getaway proved that we
don’t need to have
much money to enjoy
life’s many blessings.”

To pay tribute our beloved departed, we travelled to Panglao, Bohol
for the long “Kalag-Kalag” weekend.
With the school semester just ended
and another semester about to start,
our finances were tight. But God’s
graciousness provided for this lowbudget vacation.
And what a great time we had
doing things together. Looking through
some old photographs, visiting relatives, walking to and from the cemetery for the Holy Mass, cleaning and
beautifying the gravesite, as well as
praying for the dead did wonders to
our body that at the end of the day
snuggled together on the floor mat
for a refreshing sleep did not matter at
all.

We were also blessed to have availed
of an overnight stay in one of the resort
hotel at Alona Kew. Thanks to a cousin
who gave us a discounted rate . Enjoying
the sumptuous but inexpensive food, the
frolic on the beach watching the sun rise
- are just among the beautiful things that
make lasting memories.
The weekend getaway proved that
we don’t need to have much money to
enjoy life’s many blessings. In fact it
taught many lessons that I know the
children will treasure. Like the value of
needs over wants as we scrimped on the
limited resources that we had. It also
proved God’s faithfulness. That if we
seek God first, the rest will fall into
place.

Let us always choose to heal, not to hurt; to forgive, not to despise; to preserve, not to quit; to smile,
not to frown and to love, not to hate.
