Temporary Transfer of the Provision of Air Traffic Services

Introduction
As part of the UK/Ireland FAB airspace optimisation initiatives and to test some of the enablers for
the introduction of cross Flight Information Region (FIR) dynamic sectorisation, NATS and the
IAA are introducing a trial of cross FIR service provision. The area concerned is part of the
Scottish FIR/UIR adjacent to the Shannon FIR/UIR and Northern Operational Transit Area
(NOTA) and the responsibility for the provision of Air Traffic Services will be transferred from
Scottish Control at Prestwick Centre to Shannon Control at Shannon ACC. It is intended that this
transfer of responsibility will be transparent to the airspace users.

Duration of trial
The dynamic sectorisation operational trial (DSOT) will commence on the 9th January 2014 and
end on the 18th September 2014.

Lateral and vertical limits

The area has the following lateral limits (clockwise from the top left corner):
56o 35' 06.00" N

010 o 00' 00.00" W

56o 32' 19.00" N
