Tea Jesus is the “tea” in our cup. How is that a great opening line? Just think about it for a minute. Have you ever watched the change in the water after putting a tea bag in the water? The water is clear and as the tea steeps, strands of brown flow through the water. Fingers form here and there in the water, shades of light and dark form in the water, but slowly the water becomes darker and darker the longer you leave the tea bag in the stronger the tea becomes. Jesus is like that in our lives. When we are first saved areas in our life are easy to turn over to Jesus and he is very strong in those areas. Other areas we have not given over to the Lord are still clear of his influence as we still live partly in the world and partly in the New Life. As time passes one of two things happen. On one hand, we turn completely toward Jesus and through prayer, study and growth we become stronger. On the other hand, we turn from Jesus. We return to relying on ourselves and turn back to the old life in the world. Let us go back to the tea for a minute. Say the tea is strong and you pour water into it. The more water you poor into it the weaker the tea becomes. Can you pour enough water into the tea that it becomes clear again? I do not believe you can entirely, but it will become extremely weak. We can be like that also (this would be the other hand we talked about earlier). Our strength in this life comes from our closeness with Jesus. The question we all must ask is, “Am I going to be strong in the Lord? Am I going to live and move in this life in the Lord? Is the Lord going to seep into every area of my life with Jesus’ life and love? Or will I allow the world to intrude and water down/weaken your walk with Jesus? What kind of “Christian Tea” are you? Do you leave the tea bag (Jesus) in your life day in and day out? Or do you dunk the tea bag in to water every so

often, like every Sunday for an hour? Maybe Christmas and Easter with a few other Sundays here and there for good measure, never really leaving the tea bag in long enough to make a real difference in your life? Look at the tea again. Can you separate the tea from the water? Where does the tea start and the water end? Can you tell the difference? I believe this is how we are to be as Christians. In fact, what does Christian mean? It means Christ like. We are to become so much like Jesus that the world cannot tell the difference between you and Jesus Christ. There is no point where you can say, “This is me and that is Jesus.” Only you can decide what kind of Christian you will be. Will you be fully devoted, thoroughly saturated in Jesus forever changed like the water is forever changed by the tea bag (Jesus).I challenge you to really look at your life. Are you a strong thoroughly saturated Christian or a weak slightly brewed barely discernable Tea? Verse for the week: Luke 12:8-9 (NLT) 8 “I tell you the truth, everyone who acknowledges me publicly here on earth, the Son of Man will also acknowledge in the presence of God’s angels. 9 But anyone who denies me here on earth will be denied before God’s angels.
