next period to defend
ourselves against the
greatest attacks on our members conditions
seen in our lifetimes.
We have a government and London Mayor
intent on driving down our wages and conditions and culling our jobs. I have been LTRC
Regional Secretary for the last 18 months
and have always sought to bring the region
together to fight the bosses and defend our
jobs and conditions.
As Secretary of the Region I have provided the stewardship to take our members
forward.

Record
I have been an active trade unionist for 40
years. I have been involved in organising
many strikes and disputes and have negotiated at the highest level, including with
government ministers.
I have been involved in many community
campaigns, helping to organise a successful campaign to keep Charing Cross Hospital open and I have many years of activity
in the anti-racist movement.

John will work to build public
support for tube workers, will
negotiate tenaciously with
management and will consult
members in order to develop a
strategy of Industrial Action.
But as a leader of our national
union John will also work to
develop the important initiatives
taken by RMT in recent years. This
includes campaigning alongside
other unions in London to make
the TUCs policy of a general strike
a reality. Generalised action could
transform the situation facing
public sector workers and stop the
governments austerity cuts.
As a life-long socialist John also
supports RMTs involvement in
the Trade Unionist and Socialist
Coalition.

On London Underground, I have represented

members as a Level 1 Industrial rep on the Hendon Central Group for almost 8 years and have
been a Level 2 rep Stations and Revenue Functional Council for almost three years.
I have represented members at all levels of
disciplinaries in LU, Tfl, Serco and Sodexo, successfully saving many members jobs. In the run
up to the Olympics I was one of the negotiators
from stations and we managed to secure additional payments without any working outside of
our existing framework agreements.

Time to fight back

We now have a choice; Do we fight to defend our
jobs, pay, conditions and pensions or do we surrender them and hand over low wages, poor pensions and high unemployment to the next generation. I will fight alongside members to defend
jobs, conditions and pensions and to ensure all
our members in every grade are treated equally
whether they be a supervisor or a cleaner or
whether they are station staff or train staff.
I believe the union belongs to the members.
I will put forward strategies to win for our members and all my decisions will be based on listening to members and reps so that we can take the
conditions of the whole membership forward.
