Rabobank Group is a full-range financial services provider that operates on cooperative principles. Its
origins lie in the local loan cooperatives that were founded in the Netherlands nearly 110 years ago by
enterprising people who had virtually no access to the capital market.
Mission statement
In the Netherlands and beyond, our banking practices always take a responsible approach to the
development of wealth and prosperity. We respect the environment and the differing cultures and
customs of the countries we operate in and we understand that maintaining our solvency and liquidity is
a prerequisite for continuity.
"We are proud to be one of the worlds most sustainable banks".
Wherever we work, and whatever services we provide, we always prioritise the customer, helping them
create value and realise their financial ambitions by providing individual financial solutions that are
relevant, innovative, and reliable.
The Rabobank Group aspires to help individuals and businesses participate fully and independently in
economic activities. Therefore our primary business is to provide our customers with all the most
modern financial services required for successful participation in todays economy.
Rabobank Values
Rabobank Group offers its clients all the financial services they need to participate in an economydriven modern society. The Group strives to ensure that its services are continually modified and
updated to meet the changing needs of both private individuals and businesses.
We believe that sustainable prosperity and well-being require careful nurturing of our natural resources
and living environment. We respect the culture and traditions of the countries where we operate, insofar
as these do not conflict with our own objectives and values. We aim to make a positive contribution to
social, economic and environmental development in all our activities, always focusing on our clients'
best interest.
We create customer value by:
providing those financial services considered best and most appropriate by our clients
ensuring the continuity of those services, with a view to the long-term interests of the client
demonstrating our commitment to our clients and their environment, in ways that help them
achieve both their personal, social, and economic ambitions.
The Rabobank Group has established its vision and ambition in a mission statement and has formulated
a general code of conduct. The mission statement and the code of conduct define the latitude within
which the banks policy and the employees activities must take place. The statement and the code form
the rational framework within which targets come about and dilemmas are clarified.
In addition to the general code of conduct, Rabobank has formulated special guidelines regarding
financial services in relation to specific social issues. One such guideline is the Human Rights
Statement that was formulated in 2002. This guideline states the scope of the banks responsibility. The
more practical human rights position paper was developed in order to improve the guidelines
applicability to banking activities. The Rabobank Group wishes to contribute to making the food and
agribusiness more sustainable. The Food and Agribusiness Principles are our guidance.
