Day 1: Pursuit of Knowledge

In Hosea 4:6, the Lord says, men, “His people” precisely perish due to lack of knowledge. Even though
many have believed that what you don't know doesn't kill you. The scripture says otherwise; it reveals
that the knowledge that men lack is what is actually destroying them. For instance men still die of
sicknesses because they do not know that they were already healed by the stripes of Jesus. Men still
live in fear of the devil, because they do not know how defeated the guy already is!
The scriptures reveal that knowledge is to be sought after and gotten. Proverbs 18:5 reveals The heart
of the prudent getteth knowledge; and the ear of the wise seeketh knowledge. You see the first thing
men ought to ask of God is knowledge; yes you want a nice car, a mansion, a great family etc; but
above all this seek for knowledge.
Day 2: What Knowledge?
In saying knowledge, the question then comes knowledge of what? For many when you say knowledge
ought to be searched, their minds will fast run to the news on TV, or the tabloid on the street, or some
recent artist fact on Google. You see however this is not the ultimate knowledge that man ought to seek.
Here is the thing, the idea that men perish due to lack of knowledge, suggests therefore that there is a
knowledge that gives life. And this Jesus revealed, when He said; “And this is life eternal, that they
might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent.(John 17: 3)” In other
words, the ultimate knowledge is to know the one true God, and Jesus. Now this is more than believing
in the existence of God, it is knowing Him to an intimate level.
Day 3: The excellence of Knowledge
This thing Paul understood, when He said; “That I may know him, and the power of his resurrection,
and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable unto his death; (Philippians 3:10)” Paul
says, he counted all things loss, for this. However if you follow the scripture closely from verse 7, Paul
reveals that counting all things loss (In this case things pertaining to the law), would ultimately cause
Him to win Christ, in that He would be found having the righteousness which is of God by Faith and
ultimately that He would know Christ. In other words, beginning to know Christ, starts at the point
when you begin to understand righteousness by Faith. And this, Paul calls the excellence of knowledge.
Day 4: Knowledge and Righteousness
It is therefore at this point safe to say, you will not truly know God, while you are trying to work your
own righteousness. Therein is no life. Life is in understanding and knowing that you are the
righteousness of God in Christ by faith. Paul had to count all his self righteousness (righteousness by
the law) as loss, that He would win Christ. Many times however folk use this scripture, they are telling
you things like, you have to let go of some friends, some TV, some Internet and all. However as good
as that sounds, it is not at all the concept of that scripture. Because what Paul is talking about in the
beginning of this Chapter is the zeal that men have as regards to the law. In other words what He is
saying is, you count loss all those things, all those deeds of self righteousness, count them loss, so that
you may attain to the righteousness that is of God by Faith.
Day 5: Concerning the Kingdom
In light of the Truth that knowledge must be sought, Jesus encouraged men to seek first the kingdom of
God, and His righteousness and all other things would be added to them. Consider He did not say to
seek our own righteousness which most do in trying to fulfill that scripture. They read it and then begin
to tell you to be good, do good! However what Jesus is saying is seek to know what God has made you
i.e. righteousness by Faith. He is saying that your ultimate pursuit is to understand that you have been
made righteous by Faith, this way everything else will be added to you. Two things, the kingdom of
god, and His righteousness. Again, this is what Paul calls the excellence of knowledge.
